Must be:

Under 5K used

Look good

Stick shift

Reliable

Must not be:

A Mustang

So far I'm looking at Civic SIs and, Nissan 240sx.

personally i would go with a 4runner or a tacoma. but it looks like you want something small to sport around in. get a mustang.

I'd get an e30/36 bmw 325i, a 90's a4 or an rx-7. But none of em are that reliable, I just like the fun factor.

Chevy K10 with a 10 inch lift and huge tires.

If I had 5k I'd get that shit in a heartbeat, alas I only have a couple thousand.

If you really do want a 240 watch this forum for a while and wait for something good to pop up. Everyone low balls like a bitch over on zilvia so if you're actually a cash in hand buyer you should't have problem getting a good deal on a well built car. http://zilvia.net/f/cars-sale/

Must not be a mustang. Haha I like your style man

Im not too sure how reliable Bmws are, with proper maintenance they're strong, but otherwise you cant go wrong with a clean Civic. Super reliable, easily tunable (if thats your thing) and relatively cheap.

great idea, spend your whole budget on a shitty 20 year old 'luxury' car with 200k on it just to tell people you have a bwm or audi, that will be outrageously expensive to fix.

Be smart, you could get an older ranger or f150, or ford focus-all cheep to fix or a subaru in decent shape, or a older volvo s80, dont be that cock with a 110hp bwm bragging that you have a Bimmer.

This. Outback happens to be my first car. I love that it so much. They are boss in any conditions and super reliable. If you can find one with the 2.2 engine, consider that over the 2.5. They tend to have head gasket issues at 200,000 miles. You'd be super satisfied with a subaru

Or a Saturn vue. I have 2002 one and it has over 200,000 miles on it but it still runs great. The nice thing is the body is made mostly out of plastic so it never rusts.

youve clearly never drivin a restored E30 or better yet a swaped out E30. Dont knock what you havent tried dude.RWD E30's are stupid fun, you could get a decent restored one or swaped one for $5000, ive seen swaped E30's pushing 500hp, you can swap alot of JDM engines (toyota supra engines are popular swaps 2JZ in the E30 BMW's) trust me no body brags about having an 80's BMW powered by a Toyota engine....they are to busy drifting circles around your f150 to do that!

But for your purpose's OP i doubt you want an 80's project drift car, you want to look out for a 200* Subaru outback or legacy that was grandma driven. An older Audi A4 wagon would be pretty dope to.

outbacks can be found for under 5 and if taken care of are only half way through their lives.

Well right now I have a 1993 Volvo 960 and it has over 300k miles on it....Time for something new.

Also I'm looking at Acura Integra's. Pretty much something that's small, sporty, and somewhat fast.

It all depends on the cars in your area, and the purpose in which you'll using it.

To be honest an e30 can be a great car. People that hate on driving older german simply misunderstand driving a german car. The thing about german cars is proper maintenance, make sure stuff is done on time, and things go well. Wait a little bit longer and shit will hit the fan.

I'm biased as I drive a ten year old german car with almost 300 000 km on it.

I'm not recommending one, i'm just saying that the e30 has the potential to be a good car if you put forth the time and effort. I'm only saying this because people have mentioned it in this thread.

I'd honestly am not sure what the kid wants beside it being 5k, stick and looks good.

Theres a world of potential with those options. From sports cars to a corolla and suvs as well.

I'd say consider a B5 or B5.5 passat. I really enjoy mine, and you can get the 1.8t in a manual as well.

They're a great looking car, and reasonably reliable, if maintained properly.

But that goes for most cars.

I'm sorry I must have skipped over the part where OP said he lives in a trailer and married his cousin.

where can you get a k10 w/ a 10" lift and huge tires for 5 grand?

No way they will let it go for 5 grand, even if there was no treads left. Gotta be something wrong with it.

Maybe not that truck I posted, but you can definetly get trucks for cheap. Just get a k10 and lifting it doesn't cost THAT much.... Or any truck and lift it haha, bronco, f-150, even a K5. Trucks are mad cheap where I live.

just did brah, drinking my protein shake right now as I type this

I fucken came, everywhere ! K5's are also sexi

lol when did you go from being NS frenchy to southern redneck lifting bro frenchy

If you can find a 99-01 Subaru Impreza wagon, those things are tanks. Last year I spent quite a bit of time researching the same car budget for myself, and it came down to these choices, in order of preference:

99-01 Subaru Impreza wagon (had the most powerful EJ22 engine, bulletproof)

97-01 Acura Integra GS-R

00-05 Toyota Celica GTS

02-03 Nissan Maxima SE (Bose Sound + Sub, 5.9 0-60)

02-03 Mazda Protege ES

98-99 VW Passat

00-01 Audi A4

For Insurance reasons, I ended up with a Protege. Quick little car, the seats are uncomfortable if you're 5'10"+

what the fuck do you have so far up your ass about "luxury" vehicles

we get it, you hate that people spend money on "expensive" cars. stop being such a fucking insufferably miserable human being about it.

if you look around, you can find some pretty decent condition e30 (late 80's early 90's) bmw 3 series cars for under 5k, spend the leftover to make it even nicer.

if you dont want a rwd car, look for an mk1 gti/rabbit

I know what you can get, if I needed to buy a car right now with the money I have I'd get an old civic or an f150. But I've already had an integra (luxo-civic) and it was a piece of shit to drive. If I had 5gs for a car I'd want something with a stick that's rwd or awd and fun.

I drive my grampas 89 benz 300e right now. I don't brag to anyone about drivin a merc. But don't knock old cars til you drive them man. It's got heated seats that are electrically adjustable, electric windows and sunroof. Car has tons of space and enough power to pass focuses and f150s all day. It was $2000 and I'd honestly rather drive it than a brand new corolla/civic. Only pissof is it's an auto, I'd get a 190e cosworth if I could find one.

Subarus are hella expensive to fix btw.
