recognition or underground?

i like how it is now. if we get too much exposure there will be too many little poser kids who think theyre cool. i like how now you can goto a mountain where you dont know anyone, and see kids in the park with twins and session with them all day. if it gets popular you wont be able to do this. i met so many kids this year just for having a pair of twintips on and hitting the park

Yeah I'd have to agree with patg that skiing should stay underground some. Skiing's kind of like punk, it's good if it doesn't sell out. On the other hand we still need to keep enough people skiing that the sport can survive and ski areas can continue to function and stuff.

although, if skiing got bigger than things would be done a lot better. Comps. would be judged on your trick not just by your name, and the same people wouldn't be in every movie.

keeping it small is great for those who are doing well because it's relatively easy to be on top with less people. As soon as it get big, though, comps won't be won with one kid throwing down with the rest sucking it up...it'll be a battle to the death with handfulls of kids. Personally, I won't mind when the sport gets big: more sponsorships, comps, and especially more cash to win.

its getting way to popular, you see people from little 6 year old groms to 50 year old women wearing 1080's. it is getting to big, and its only gonna get bigger

I really like it the way it is, but I think that it's totally inevitable that our sport is going to keep growing.

Too many of the ski companies/organizations have lost all their business because everybody wants to ride twins.

We're going to have to start ski ballet back up and keep it underground. :)

OUCH!

i think that hardcore skiing will allways be underground. even if the sport grows. the number of posers will increase and the number of people who just do it just for soemthing to do will increase. think about snowboarding...tons of people do it but how many actually are good? im pretty sure skiing will get jsut as much esspusure as snowboarding eventually but the number of hardcore skiers wont change. just my opionion though

Look at my post in the 'letter to EXPN' thread. Keep it the way that it is.

i like it exaclty where it is right now. Im starting to see many more people in line hats and stuff nad like a while ago i would have been like sweet and gone and talked to them but them but now there are skiers everywhere. I just hoe we turn out like snowboarding iwth a bunch of little gay 8 year olds who think they are awesome.

yeah between jmmt and having skiing on tv even tho it isnt newschool casue of the olympics. I fear the day we hove tons of posers. but one thing i am loking forward to is beingable to buy plastic twin at walmart where you just strap boots into them like they have snowboards that will e the coolest.
