I am thinking about buying a longboard, I have tried some of my friends and they are pretty fun, I weigh about 185 and am 5' 11'', does anyone have any reccomendations on what kind, brand, or style, board I could get?
If you're looking to save a fair bit of money I would suggest a Kracked Skulls board. www.Krackedskulls.com
I have an M1 as do several other people on this site and I'm sure they will recommend them. The basic M1 with 70's Flashbacks is an excellent beginner setup for under 130$ (which is about what just a loaded dervish deck costs) If you decide to order one use NOVA as a discount code for 5% off.
Check out Gravity Skateboards. I picked up a 37" diamond tail this season. Has decent camber and with an upgrade to randal trucks you cant go wrong. It bombs fairly decently as well and even after being hit by a car, shaving it down to about 30" it still can rip Mountain Village, CO with ease. Oh, and its probably the cheapest for the quality.
If your just looking to cruise the Arbor Fish or the Arbor Fleetwood are good choices. I don't really like the Arbor Bamboo Pin rides but def try it out and see what you like before you jump in to buying something.
just get revenge trucks, super turny, and they NEVER get whell bite unless you wear and tear the shit out of them. the trucks stop at a certain point specifically to stop wheel bite. They come on an Arbor Fleetwood, which is a pintail shape
I have a Loaded pintail and i love it. However i bought it before they started making most of their boards in bamboo. I have flex 3 but i'm smaller than you, for your weight you'd probably want to get a flex 1 (for any of the loaded boards).
i would recommend a landyachts for sure i dont actually have a long board but a few of my friends do and they alll have landyachts and i have to say they are so sick and fit in exactly with what you want (turny, carve-able) they all love them and i rode it around a bit and it was so fun
ya if anyone want to help me out im looking for a recommendation for a board too, im tall and mad skinny, and i live near like 0 hills, so i wouldnt be doing mad hill bombing, im more just looking for a nice carving board.
bump for hopes of getting good suggestions. basically btw i have the choice near me of a gravity, a couple loaded's i think, a few surf one's and a couple arbor's. those are basically the selection i have near me
you are a fucking dumbass. S9 probably has the best quality on the market. sure they may not be the most innovative (having about 30 different lengths of pintails) but with the right truck setup (randalls or paris') then all of their boards shred. just try not to get the shitty gullwings that come with most of them because they don't turn very much.
Oh yeah, also it's really not the board (to an extent) that makes it a turny ride. it's just the wheelbase and the trucks you get on it. between 36-42" is a fairly generic length and get either randall RII's, paris 180's, or revenge's for a turny ride.
google stoked skateboards for some really good prices on a lot of good stuff
