I agree with you. Most of school is just testing your ability to learn and training you to work hard. Part of growing up in high school is developing your work ethic, which helps you later in college (and in the real world).
However, it's hard to stay interested when so much of it is boring and meticulous. I hate learning in school, but I have an inquisitive mind. I read a fair bit, but most of it is nonfiction. Nonfiction is interesting to me and actually applies to life, whereas memorizing dates and analyzing literature (barf) sucks donkey penis.
