Rear Spoilers

[Burrito]

I just bought some new boots. They have adjustable rear spoilers, but to actually take the spoilers off I would have to break them. Right now I just adusted them so that they're at the lowest possible point. Do you guys think I should take them all the way off.

taking the spoilers out will increase the amount of volume inside the cuff of the boot. it will also decrease the effective forward lean of the boot. so, if the boot is either too tight around the top of the cuff, or you want to stand more straight up, take the spoilers out. otherwise, leave them in. they're there to make the boot ride better.

that sounds right. if you have more volume inside the top of the cuff, you'll have a bigger sweet spot, which will definitely help to re-align your mass-center for switch situations. if you take them out, you can always build up the back of the liner with stiff foam if you decide you don't like it.

word of caution: the thickness of most spoilers is enough to very noticeably change the amount of volume. with feet and lower legs, a small amount of volume change is very noticeable. i am not advocating not to try it. most jibber specific boots do have a softer flex, which you can simulate by taking out the spoilers, in principle.
