Really slow download speeds

I just did a speed test on speedtest.net and it said my download speed was 1.28MB/Sec. I'm downloading Battlefield 3 right now and it's going at 111.5 KB/Sec. what is the reason for this? Do certain websites set a limit on download speeds or something?

rapidshare, megaupload, hulkshare, and similar sites have slower download speeds for the free users than the premium, paying customers.

if youre torrenting, youll want to check the leech:seed ratio. the more seeders than leechers, the faster the download.

like my neighborhood, everyone has time warner cable, and around 5-10 pm on a weeknight the internet is slow, but 3am its suppppper fast

thats not a terrible speed based on your speedtest. I have a 4 Mbps connection and my max download speed is around 500kbs/sec for a download. Torrents can be slower based on number of seeders like above post said^

111.5KB/sec (kilobytes) * 8 = 892kbps (kilobits) or .892mpbs

torrents measure speed in bytes, speedtest.net/ISPs meausre bandwidth in bits

bytes * 8 = bits

your internet is fine, although 1.28mbps is pretty shitty internet

Should I call my ISP? this is pretty gay, who wants to wait for 30 hours to play a game they already bought
