my friend used to snow blade but then i convinced him to ski. he went out and bought 148 volkl dogens and he is like 5' 8'' is he gonna look really gay?

There is a dude who is 17 at my hill and 6'4 who bought the 130 chronics or whatever their smallest size is, talk about lookin gay

at my shop in the east, they suggested that i go in the high 150s or low 160s. Im 5'8 130 lbs. Why are they saying go short and everyone on here says go bigger? ( i bought 170s online by the way)

Im 5'3" and ride 151s, it was sort of a mistake but I have no problems with them and no one I know seems to see that they are short.

that will probably be too small for riding anyways, and he might look alittle goofy, but if his riding can step it up, then they arent too small

because they are uneducated, and selling your twins in the same manner that they sell recreational mom/pop skis.

twins are softer, center set, and have less running area due to the second tip. therefore, its a definate plus to upsize your skis vs downsize. additionally, MOST kids with twins are pretty agressive skiers, and are able to handle a longer ski without negative side effects. longer skis are also noticably more stable and much faster due to the larger surface area.

ehh fuck it, I'm almost 5'11" 165 lbs and I have 168 scratch FS's. Too poor to buy new skis yet so gotta wait. Idk doesn't look as cool but whatever. My next pair will be around 180. If he has fun, who cares.

when he rode skiblades he looked like he enjoyed having massive gay orgy's but now he is going to look like he only has sex with one guy.

it shouldnt matter if you think you look okay or not.. aleast he dumpd the ski boards for skis.. and sure 130s may be short.. but you gotta jump into skiin somehow from snowbladin. just make sure he buys bigger ones more suited to his weight and ability

why doesnt he just get some normal size twins. I dont get it. I switched from snowboarding and I didnt buy 148s

i think a lot of people are taking the "longer ski trend" a little bit too far. If you are buying twins that are way over your head, you aren't very smart, unless your ripping back country all of the time. Longer isn't ALWAYS better, like a ton of kids on here think. Now obviously 148's on a kid that is 5'8" are too short, but i think the tips of your skis should stand up to somewhere on your face. I am 6' and ride 174s which are about up to my chin, and I'll probalby get 181s next time or around there.

i think also it has to do partly with the skill of the skiier. If someone isnt used to doing spins, a longer ski will be way harder to throw around and control. But if your control is good, you can handle a longer ski, which will give you more balance.

might as well be snowblading again...... once i skied on 157's, and i'm 5'7.... i was so embarrassed cause they seemed so short.....

don't listen to this dude. who the hell cares. "Oh no! They're going to make fun of me and call me names!" Just ski. If thats what he has to work with, then then thats what he's going to have to throw down on. I'm 18 years old and I'm improving my 3's and working on 5's. You think I don't get made fun of? There are 15 year olds doing switch 7's and 9's. Do I care? fuck no. I'm having fun.
