Really Nordica????

I find this ironic, because if I'm not mistaken, Nordica bought out Kastle YEARS ago and kinda killed the name... It was only in like 07 that it came back.

As for this thread, what the hell? Nordica has been making sweet freeride stuff for years.. my first actual freeride BOOTS were Nordicas.

Boo hoo they haven't had graphics you could freak out over or something, thats absolutely subjective. Boo hoo they haven't had huge names. Should they just hide under a rock because they aren't 'core' enough or something? man...

Why don't we hate on K2 or Volkl as well... how dare they make freeride skis... they have RACING pedigree. GO BACK TO YOUR HOME ON THE ICY RACECOURSE YOU AWFUL AWFUL NON-FREERIDE COMPANIES!

gawd... Your shot, Nordica has some of the sickest, most unique style riders, so if you want to hate your just a fag looking for attention. I personally love the new gear that's coming out next year and the edits that Nordica has been posting are the shit.
 
Nordica makes some good quality product! I don't see why OP is hating on them. Companies have to roll with the times to stay alive. I wouldn't say they are selling out, obviously if you are a company you want to make profit.

I think it's safe to assume that every ski company is here to make a profit. Otherwise there would be copious amounts of free gear floating around.

Also, Nordica does have some big name riders. (This is taken from their website)

TJ Schiller, Bene Mayr, Rorybushfield.

Boots only:

Sammy Carlson, Torrin Yater-Wallace, Justin Dorey, Joe Schuster, Banks Gilberti.

 
False, Evan & Nordica are doing it right.

They have made such an impression in one year.

Nordica was able to make a big name in the freeskiing industry in just one ski season. I don't understand why everyone is hating on them, they are doing great by signing a bunch of freeskiers from all around the world and putting the company out there. I personally like Nordica and I am definitely considering buying skis from them in the near future.

Or better yet they might've been picked up by him on Nordica because we all know that Evan Williams is the Nordica US team manager.
 
Nothing more needs to be said than Evan signed Dale Talkington on to the program. Nordica is 100% on point right now.
 
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Nordica didn't "copy" Line's skis. Their headquarters are in completely different places in the United States. The Line HQ is in Seattle, Washington; while Nordica, like Evan Williams said in this thread, is based in West Lebanon, New Hampshire. How could Nordica copy Line's skis if both companies are in different parts of the country?

 
Cry baby for pointing out the fact that they are straight up taking lines whole game plan, i said it 2 months ago and them signing Ian just further proves my point. So if stating the obvious makes me a cry baby so be it.

And how exactly is Nordica copying or stealing from Line? You do know sponsored skiers are people right, they have a say in what companies they choose to ride for....
 
a) the baby isn't crying.

b) athletes are leaving line to go to nordica... think about that for a second, and remember that the riders are the ones making that decision. Also note that riders bounce between sponsors all the time.

c) I love Line, Jay, and everything they have done for our sport.

d) with that being said, I think Evan is doing great things with Nordica -- and that's basically because he's one of us. He cares about you guys! Evan has nothing but the best intentions for skiing, skiers, and the newschoolers community. Don't believe me? Next time you're in his neck of the woods, link up for some beers (I'll buy the first round) and let me know if your opinion has changed.

e) It's business. Whether you're a company or athlete, people need to eat.

f) this is all just IMO -- so feel free to tell me to fuck off if you think I'm wrong. No hard feelings, promise.
 
From what I have gathered, it seems like every single Line athlete approached Nordica. Not the other way around.

Nordica is clearly offering athletes something that Line isn't (not that all their athletes are coming from Line, but this seems to be what people are focusing on...but really, only Ian, Kieran, and Lupe left Line for Nordica...their AM team is way more than that). I know Lupe was happy with Line, but Nordica was willing to offer more so why wouldn't he switch, Nordica got him a car, a filmer, the ability to go all over the country filming, way more skis than Line offered him (I know one year he had to beg to get a new pair when he broke a pair and they sent him a used pair from 2 seasons before)...who wouldn't switch when offered that.

Line is an awesome company and they're doing what they need to do, and it's working (I STILL see more Lines than any other single company), to say that Nordica is copying them is ridiculous (especially to say they're copying skis...cause Nordica hasn't released a new park ski in a few years, just renamed them....the Soul Rider has been around).
 
This post has never been so right. But seriously, OP, Ian Compton and Evan Williams have been really good friends.Also, if you read the article in the most recent thread by Nordica, you would see that Ian and the Line HQ and his home in VT are in separate parts of the U.S. and that it's simpler to drive 40 minutes from his house to the Nordica HQ instead of flying out to Seattle to meet up with Line. Also, Line has ties to the East, too, but that was during the early years of freeskiing. Things can get stale for a while.

I was actually surprised with Liam and Lupe driving around the country filming for Nordica and Subaru because the two companies made a deal for that single winter. They had to say goodbye to the car last spring because of the deal between Nordica and Subaru. Not only was it Liam and Lupe driving around in "Big Orange," There were more Nordica athletes, the YMR crew tagged along for part of the series (like in California, not sure about Colorado). Also, Evan Williams helped with filming of the series, too.
