I was cruising through a skimboarding forum and found this...

I think the only problem would be skis hitting the sides of the crates. But there are so many possibilities from it. Just a thought.

 
its a good idea for skating because its portable and what not but i think it might be kind of unstable when your skiing on it. migth as well just build a box... it wont cost that much more
 
yeah milk crates are not that strong I shattered one with my back. Although that was after falling off a 20 foot roof
 
instead of milk crates i used staples file holders because they have a covered bottom, then i predrilled, and screwed them into this shitty box thing that i had because it was a dumb rail anyways ... its pretty much the poor mans method, but if you have the time/money just go with a wood frame
