Hey NS,

First of all, Taylor killed her segment and was a badass to compete in such a tough competition. It has me wondering though, will we see a separate real ski women’s category next year? I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d love to see 5 women throwing down in the streets?

Why hasn’t it happened yet ?

Budget restrictions and engagement audience maybe? I don't disagree they definitely deserve their own category. Street skiing is tough though and you really don't see a ton a pure female street skiers. JYOSEI that was put out I think was much more what the community needs with promoting diversity in the sport. OR something like dew tour streetstyle the 2018 Breck comp was super viby and chill. XGames also is money driven and probably doesn't see a huge return on investment on their end if they pursue something like this.

Why not combine? theres not many real ski participants to begin with and most female athletes dont hit urban. I do agree there needs to be more women in real ski tho

It would be cool for sure but right now there's not enough people to do it. There can't be much more than 6 female street skiers in general

Bella bacons gotten out in the streets, audrey friess, Taylor, McKenna brown, Alice Michel, Coline Ballet-baz there’s 6 and Ik of a few more I can’t remember their names. Add in the others if I can remember their names even if 1 or 2 say no, you will still have 6 or 7

I think just a combined Real Ski would be super sick, so much of those segments are the cinematography and creativity of the skiers so I think it'd be a pretty level playing field, it would push more people to hit the street too which is always cool to see.

its gonna be combined into skiers and snowboarders together before you get a girls category. next couple of years

it sucks but it's likely the budget/engagement ratio is high enough for the big suites running X-games to dedicate money and coverage for a Women's category, that being said I definitely hope they'll continue to feature woman shredders alongside the dudes which will hopefully get more women into the sport or at least hitting street.

[tag=169876]@chubbspeterson[/tag] has a good point too; combining skiers and snowboarders into one real snow event would definitely create a lot of space to feature women- and truth be told I'd love to be able to watch both street skiing and snowboarding in one event but I'm not sure how judging could even be done. There's even more chicks shredding on snowboards than skis too so would definitely add a lot to the pool of eligible athletes but I think making logistics work would be an incredible pain in the ass.

idk, theres a lot about X-games events that I would change but I think in the end there's only so many resources that can be dedicated to them so I understand why things don't always work out.

True they do have the budget and resources to do so but the demographic is so niche that it's difficult to capture. Anyone know the prize money and how that stacks up, (2016 was 20k)? That would also be a big controversy in terms of how it's allocated. I think it's a similar situation as jamie anderson in this years knuckle huck, great exposure but doesn't really progress the women's side of snow sports.

There 100% needs to be a women’s realski, here’s why. Taylor is a trooper for competing in this butttt... she was nowhere near anybody else’s level of skiing. I mean cmon, she didn’t hit a single kink. She took away a spot from somebody else that can actually throw down like zahner or perry or carson. There needs to be a separate comp for women.

Gotta super passionate and all in though. You really don't see much street content on the women's side alone. As seen from a lot of the news articles too street is super high risk in terms of injury. Hard if you're not a full time skier (bum). Isn't the timeline like 2 months? You most def need a solid 4-6 person crew as well, including probably 1-2 filmers, winch, lights, gear etc. Not to mention you gotta scout all the spots and deal with chasing winter now. Idk if there are enough peeps to fill 6 spots when most skiers are just out chasing wc points/xgames. It's all in due time eventually it will happen in the distant future
