Real ski 2018

Yesssss.

In my perfect world this is how it goes down:

Gold - Casabon

Silver - Antti

Bronze - LJ

Fan Fav - Keegs / Hornbeck

In reality:

Gold - Casabon

Silver - Keegs

Bronze - Antti

Fan Fav - LJ.

My lord Phil brought the fucking heat.

And LJ's was a work of god damn art.

Am I the only one thinking that the level this year is much lower than in the previous years? Graner and Hornbeck were really underwhelming imo (Magnus seemingly got hurt but still). Ollila and Killbride stood out, but Casabon was really the only one that blew my mind. LJ's was creative and tech but the lack of bigger features boggles me, though he might still be medal worthy. Probably need a rewatch later.

- Casabon's was so good on every level - style, big spots, tech skiing, creative approach.

- Hornbeck, aside from Phil, had the best style. Was a big fan of the filming approach in his edit as well. Was so stoked to see the Charlevoix DFD.

- Keegan was really tech and had some pretty big spots. That 630 at the end was so fucked up and probably the biggest shot in the entire comp

- Antti was so tech and clean, and a couple really big spots. Filming/editing was like Level 1 film quality.

- LJ's was cool, I liked his approach with all of the lines. I wish he had some bigger spots though.

- Magnus wasn't a total waste of time, because I am a big fan of switch 2's. Overall, it was a joke though.

I rank it:

1. Phil

2. Antti

3. Keegan

4. LJ

5. Hornbeck

6. Magnus

After a few more watches, I think that Keegan and Antti could easily take the top spot over Phil.

Top 3 is Phil, Keegan, Antti for sure - could be in any order though.

Casabon should take the win. Personally Hornbeck's video was my favourite to watch. I think the filming was spot on and soundtrack fit the video better than anyone else's.

1. Phil - By far the best part, and the best stuff I've seen from him. He's so agile it doesn't even make sense

2. Keegan - His last 3 shots were fucked, way too gnarly

3. Antti - Creative and gnarly, all of his spots looked cool

Hornbeck's was pretty underwhelming, but at the same time I think it was only him and his filmer at almost every spot he hit.

Didn't know Magnus got injured, he was off to a good start.

LJ's idea was cool, but for example the first line, he looked like a cross country skier, skating and pushing with his poles the whole time. The lines where he didn't pole and used speed bumps did look cool though. I'd say with another skier whose style is more fluid and loose it would've looked better. But I respect his idea, filming lines in the streets is not an easy task.

I heard hornbeck got hurt also. But I definitely see what you mean.

Casabon, Keegan and Antti killed it. Antti's was my favorite to watch and I wouldn't be surprised if he took it. His first shot was so sick! I thought LJ's idea for so many lines was a cool concept.

i really liked Hornbecks vid. the vibes it had, it didn't feel as intense either, but still lot's of style. the mans are 30 now so it's cool to see him in the streets.

Magnuses was a little bummer, but he got injured, and his edit told more of a story. felt more like an outro of a movie. still really love it. #healthgang

i think B-dog AKA Caabon will go for the gold. style on style with ease. Antti got the silver, and either Kilbride or LJ on third.

Phil Casabon is number 1 for sure.

I can’t decide between Anti Oilla or Keagan Killbride for second.

Hornbeck for people’s choice!

Casabon all day

Yeah not even close this year.

I did like LJ's approach with longer lines but man Casabon ripped it. Very cool to see he is still killing.

BDog and Keegan layed down some heat. Loved both if them but I think BDog was a bit more creative with his butters and he still had some heavy shots.

Until I heard he got injured I was pretty confused/annoyed about magnus’s edit, half of it was just artsy shots of him standing there.. I would have liked it much more if he replaced the “artsy” shots with some low-risk/mellow but creative lines that he is so well known for! Does anyone know how serious his injury was?

1. casabon

2. antti

3. killbride.

hornbecks filming was the best, and lj's stands out as fun.

magnus I thought was a confusion tactic to trick dumb ns kids into thinking its the best then I seen that bail.

casabons though my god. that switch fiddy then the tail butter lip on. my gooooodddddd hes so good!

Yea I agree with a lot of this. If you take khai’s from last year, it wouldn’t of gotten a medal last year, but this year it easily could. A lot of this is due to a lot of the circumstances (injury, money, etc. but it was definitely not as good as last years.

1. Bdog The filming aspect was great as well as the skiing, Stylish and technical

2.Antti he may have been a little more mellow than Keegan but the filming/editing was good

3. Keegan he had some really sweet skiing but the editing just didnt seem to go as well

LJ had some pretty cool lines but was a bit more mellow (TC to blame?)

Hornbeck had a really cool filming approach I liked that

Magnus was like 50% B-roll didn't know he was injured

B Dogs nollie lip on to switch into a rail butter 3 was such a dope eye pleasing trick. My favorite for sure

1. Phil

2. Antti

3. LJ/Hornbeck.

People loose sight that this isn't only a contest for best urban but the video production has to count for something and LJs was beyond creative with scoping out lines for everything and jake having to follow him, also Hornbeck and Spencer did a great job matching transitions even though stuff was small but very entertaining, I get everyones on Keegans Jockstrap a the moment on here, but his edit was god awful from the song to editing, sure the tricks where good and big but i could only watch it once and half way though i muted the damn thing. From a production stand point Antis was A+ and Phils was really well put together along with LJs.

In my opinion B-Dog should have the win hands down. I’ve got a lot of respect for LJ though, even though they weren’t massive features those lines take a ton of time and creativity, not to mention needing to land everything in one run and the filming is very difficult.

All edits are sick in their own way and I really enjoyd (re-)watching them. I love to watch Casabon ski. Everything he does looks so natural and easy (even the hardest tricks). It feels more like seeing someone making art than only skiing to me. With his creativity and style he would definitely merit Gold. On the other hand my personal favourite to watch was Keegan. His spots were huge and how he was spinning out of those rails was just crazy.

Idk if it's just my subjective view on what urban skiing I prefer to watch but I'd go with:

1. Keegan

2. Casabon

3. anti
