Real-life example of obama's policies

thats because the teacher's union has the government by the balls... you cant get fired as a teacher, unless you fuck a student(basically)

introduce some form of competition. (vouchers?) fire bad teachers, higher new good teachers, give raises to good teachers.....

as far as the top 5% goes, its attainable dude, 150k.

I thought the top 5% was more than that. I work hard so I'll be up there someday, at least it's a good goal type thing.

Anyway ya, the education system is fucked, but I didn't wanna get into it, but since you did, ya, you are right. there is no system to rate teachers on performance. In any other job if you suck dick you get fired. If you are a teacher you simply gain more seniority and gain the ability to never be fired unless, ike you said, you fuck a kid. I used the education example because it just pissed the fuck out of me. It is such a terrible system in the sense that bad teachers thrive, and good (mostly young) teachers get the shaft.

Thats quite simply not true. he wants to shrink the absurdly massive rich poor gap. He does not want everyone to be equal.

at the same time teachers unions are the only reason they get some of the benefits they do as well. (im definitely totally biased here as an El Ed major). I think before we worry about teacher performance we worry about the fact that the No Child Left Behind Act currently does not differentiate between special ed students, and non special ed students, and therefore cuts off funding to schools.

My girlfriends mom is a special ed teacher and they were forced to mainstream the kids into normal classrooms this year thanks to that act. So now the special needs kids arent getting the full attention they need, AND the "normal" kids arent either, because the teachers are distracted by the special needs kids, so they will continue to spiral in test scores, and the government will continue to cut off funding. Fucking brilliant right there

also (and im not advocating this i think its horrible) but perhaps the reason some teachers performance isnt up to par is because even though they are shaping the future of the country, they are making 30-4o grand a year. while the moron that can barely speak educated english but can catch a ball is making millions. hmm whats wrong with this picture

You don't have to. I have the right to have an opinion, as do you. I don't think you are any more intelligent than me or Joe the Plumber.

ok. lets pretend for just a second that the majority of rich folks do make their money fair and square.

Regardless of how a rich person makes their money, they are presented with opportunities the poor never had. For one they live in nicer neighborhoods with FAR better schools. i was born into an upper middle class family so we lived in a district where i went to one of the best high schools in the state. Poor people are stuck in shitty city neighborhoods going to awful city public schools (the chicago public school system is awful, thank god i live in the suburbs).

Now, since they go to nicer schools they automatically have an easier time getting into a college, regardless of money. Colleges like to see that you go to a decent school, not to mention its easier to get better grades when you have good classrooms with enough/proper books, and your teachers are concerned with teaching, not getting shot on the way to their car.

Also, parents making a lot of money have more time to spend with their kids, helping them with hw etc. Meanwhile the inner city parent is working multiple jobs trying to keep food on the table, with no time to help the kids.

Not to mention the obvious ability to pay to go to college.

Am I saying that the rich dont deserve their money? No. And even with his tax plan they will still make substantially more than the average American, however by giving up a little they can help to present those less fortunate with the opportunities to excel.

man.....i don't know why you americans have such a hard time with "socialism." OHHH NO...I SAID IT. SUCH AN EVIL WORD. DAMN I,T I MUST BE A COMMUNIST.

I am going to tell you guys right off the bat, i am Canadian. I live in a socialist nation (although im sure there are alot of people that would argue other wise.....but for the most part we are socialist).

Its not like when you become a social nation everybody becomes a communist. I get the idea that there are alot of Rich people who earned their money, but at the same time how can the poor/middle class become rich in a system of visicous cycles ( the rich get more tax cuts, and exemptions.......where the poor have to pay more and more). Lets be honest as well, if there was a flat rate tax......it would not effect the rich that much. They are going to be rich no matter what. Its not like the government is going to run into your house, steal everything you have, and leave you with a box on the street.

It just means that the middle class/poor will get the help that they need so they can afford a better standard of life. Why can't everybody live well? Why have such a huge money seperation?

I love how everybody is saying that the Rich work so hard for their money, and that nobody has mentioned how hard the lower/middle class work for their money. These people break their backs just to make ends-meat and to save any little money. 60 hour weeks in front line jobs, night shifts.....like just hard work. ( I know this is just speculation, but im sure the statistics will back me up). They work just as hard for their money, and have way more to lose then the rich. So why not give them a little more financial freedom....so they can save more money for their kid's college, or go out on vacation.

Dude, if they live in those neighborhoods because...wait for it...THEY CAN AFFORD TO LIVE THEIR!

So because those wealthy people can live there, then we should all buy a mansion each for some dirt poor family.

Lets hand EVERYTHING to the poor people so they don't have to work harder than they already are.

Some people, even if they are dirt fucking poor, don't have a problem with their lifestyle. They are making enough to get by and that's the way they want to be. Then their are the people who complain all the fucking time and don't do anything about it and want the government (aka "we the people") to do it for them.

There's a fine line between the poor people that are complaining and the people that are fine with the way they are living. "The squeaky wheel always gets the grease" so to speak.

If the waiter lived the same lifestyle as the homeless man, meaning he doesn't pay for rent, food, a car, girlfriend, ect. he would be a very rich man... Its the same thing with the super rich. If the lived the same lifestyle as the waitor he would have excess money. But, he has to pay for his giant estate, expensive car, country club, ect. I agree with aspendukes, that everyone should pay the same tax percentage of their income.

Somewhat exaggerated but the same basic principle. Of course the obamatards that occupy the internet(I'm going to get -karmaed, lol) look at any such illustration of redistribution as "stupid", "retarded" or whatever. When they are older and work for their money they will see why people vote republican.

Did i say we should buy them mansions? no. we should, not. but rather than struggle to keep a house and put food on the table, id like to see them have the opportunity to eat easily, keep their home, and put their kids through college. And did you really just suggest that people enjoy being poor? yes im sure if you asked them "hey would you rather struggle to make ends meet, or be able to live half decently?" they would definitely tell you theyd prefer to live in poverty.

lol.....handing everything

I love that.

Its not like the government is going to give every poor/lower middle class family 100 000$ extra dollars each year. I think your blowing it out of propertion. I believe what they want to do is to just give lower/middle class familys more fiancial freedom to do what they want, to afford proper heath care, to send their kids to better colleges.

Do you honestly think the lower/middle class are just lazy? That if they get tax cuts, they will all stop work......it just means that their money will for farther. As a matter of fact im sure the lower middle class work harder jobs and more hours then the rich do. They have a harder life, and there is nothing wrong with making that easyer.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

Wealthy people don't have to work NOW because they already worked their asses off to not work any longer. They are financially set.

OK, I believe that we should TRULY help the people that ABSOLUTELY need help. But if you did something REALLY stupid to get into the position that you are in then you're shit outta luck. What I'm saying is is that people are getting checks from "we the people" that don't deserve them.

I've talked to MANY IRS agents this past year. I'm no expert, but I've been listening real good.

dont you know? they love being poor. they are just lazy as fuck and choose to be there, it has nothing to do with the fact that its almost impossible to get out.

o come on drew.... i know their is a bleeding heart liberal in you somewhere...;) hehehehe

isnt this a tad bit counter intuitive? you a lib being hostile? thats supposed to be the shoot from the hip republicans. hahaha

i agree.
...and money makes money. so rich people's money isn't all made from work; a lot of it is made from money that they already have. when somebody is born into a poverty-stricken neighborhood with a bad school to go to, they don't get the proper education to dig themselves out. they end up working hard but they get low-paying jobs anyways; just because of the system. therefore, i think the system needs rich people to pay higher taxes because they have the means, and their lives will be just fine, unlike the lives of those who they are keeping the money from. the proposed plan will not compromise the lifestyles of these "unfortunate" taxpayers because there is a level of wealth that they need to surpass to be eligible, and they will not be brought down below it. we need to stop feeling bad for the very wealthy who might have inherited their wealth or owe it to the environment in which they were raised. i think it's a good plan.

sorry, the lower class dont pay taxes, 50% of americans, pay 3% of the nations tax burden... so no, these people do not need tax cuts. if you want to give them more money call it what it is, a free money check from uncle sam.

dude, take a joke. i had plenty of "hehehe" and "hahaha" in there, it was a joke.... i even poked at the shoot from the hip republicans.... JOKES.

and yeah, i did stereotype. trust me it happens all the time to me also.

isnt this stereotyping thing fun ben? hahahah

i would feel like a badass packing heat on the streets! (jokes) i dont own a gun and havent even been hunting... but i do plan to buy one when i move out depending on what sort of neighborhood i live in.

Perfect.

Neither example makes any kind of sense, by the way; tax plans aren't really amenable to allegory.

You don't really believe it's that simple do you?

That statement is so indicative of one of the greatest fallacies in this country...that being that "Everyone has the same opportunity to be successful as everyone else".

If it were actually true that one's wealth was directly tied to the amount of "sweat equity" they had personally paid...this country would be a very different place. Namely, instead of closetly racist white kids bitching that blacks get BET, closetly racist black kids would be bitching that white kids get WET.

I'd like to launch a large scale investigation into multigenerational family owned businesses and investigate to what degree they have used slave labor, or more recently, illegal alien labor. I'd like to obtain this information so that every time some moron claims that their grandpa worked his ass off so that his family could be afforded such and such opportunity blahblah I can share it with him/her

my dad works his ass off 12 hours a day and makes >400000 a year. and he earns every penny of it.

TO ALL THE PEOPLE SAYING THE POOR DO NOT HAVE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES:
Nearly every private school provides financial aid, so you could go to private school....most public schools provide some sort of accelerated/gifted programs which help you to get into a better college. Colleges offer financial aid and scholarships so you have an equal opportunity there.....going to a good college will allow you to get a good job that pays good money. Im missing the part where you dont get the same opportunites as "rich people". When you work hard at something you are rewarded, and yeah, if you fuck up in school, you arent going anywhere except to a deadend job that pays shit.

do you think they just hand out financial aid? you cant just go to a private school, dont you think maybe more people would be doing that if you could? same with college you have to jump through hoops to get financial aid.

for every dollar my dad spends he has to earn two to stay above everything.

its not fair. i work as a lifeguard at subsidized housing projects and everyone has a satellite dish and sits on picnic benches cooking burgers all day. they were cool though they gave me a burger, but then i remembered it was my tax dollars that let them cook those burgers so it was really my own burger after all.

I might have to tune my sarcasm meter because im not doing a great job of determining sarcasm of this post...

Stop.jpeg

hold on.....trying to prevent my brain from exploding.....

Did you really just say this? Really? I mean REALLY?

the MAJORITY of poor people are lazy.

And you are basis this off what? Personal experience? Not going to get into how everything else you are saying is wrong, as it usually is, because as we have seen time and time again, it is pointless and we both know we will not change each others minds, so no point in going there.

I just need to know how you came to this conclusion and if you really, truly believe it, or if you were just talking out of your ass?

For the record...talking out of your ass is ok with me. Everyone does. Some more than others, and in this case...I hope you are.

But I need to know...

so the great aspendukes...just answer for me....YES OR NO WILL DO....

do you truly believe that the large majority of poor people are lazy? Yes or no...that is all I want.

thanks

For what? Having conservative views along with ax_murdurer, skiminnesota and ferrinski? I mean, I lean very far right, but c'mon.
