alot of u guys are saying that you'd rather have a fast car than a good looking car...it all depends on what he wants to use his car for... if hes jsut using it as a normal car for driving around town with no racing then why not just make it look good...he dosn't need an insanly fast car if hes not gunna use it... personally i'd but an intake, exhaust, rims/tires, bodykit, specialties(neon, lights, audio, interior). but its not my car so its up to him and how he intends to use it
 
i just looked at his original plans and the only thing i'd change is the intake...bring that up to the top...

and alot of u guys are talking about turbos, you gotta remember this is his first car so insurance is already pretty high...throwing a turbo in there would jack up the cost of insurance

yea and how much did that guy spend to get to 433bhp. the ratio of money spent compared to gain is probably pathetic.

Ok.....first the wing only works if you have any front down force items. If not, well you lose traction on your front wheels. On an FF car, that is the worst thing you can do. Second, Eclipse SUCK. They are the worst sellers in japan for a reason.

Now, if you want something great ( and have to absoultely have to have Mitsu) then save for the Evo. If you want a track runner, and not some ricer piece of shit. ( it is cool to have a sound system, but you still look like a moron while a 180SX passes you.)

RW are better for track performance, and you can do so many things with them ( drift, Time Attack, Solo1,AutoCross, drag),and they do it better. Plus if you get an FW car you will kick the SHIT out of any honda, mitsu, or anything front wheel drive.

Now look at cars like the second generation RX-7 (FC3S) you can get great turbo cars for 3000$. You can get the 240SX, which is much more comfortable, and newer. These cars are known for drifting, and incredible tuning in Japan. You could also get 80s Toyota Corolla ( AE86). These things are fast, cheep, and tough as nails. You ask profestional drifters, and race drivers in Japan, and they will tell you they started with an AE86.

Now getting any of these cars will A: Save you a ton of money so that you could mod they shit out of them ( like 500 plus HP) B: get you mad repect on the street, you will be a tuner, not a ricer fuck C: chicks like sounds systems, but they like a good looking fast car better.

 
Unless i see a dyno chart, or vids of any of these cars on the dyno......your full of shit. ALL Eclipses suck HUGE balls. The worst thing to come out of the mitsu stable since the colt. The only good car that even comes close to an Eclipse is the Eagle Tallon. Turbo, AWD.

Ohh and kid. NEONs are stupid. Get simple paint....a PERFECT one tone. Gloss, perl, candy. If you want any car in the tuner world, go JDM. You don't buy american for a japanese car. Plus for your suspention, get coilovers. Fully adujustable, give your car a great look, race tested. stereo/amp/sub

rims/tires

possibly tint

anything else isnt worth doing. and your wing and body kit are gonna look gay

if you must get the eclipse (i'd recommend that you don't):

1. suspension & brakes

2. intake

3. exhaust (full deal, you've gotta come right from the headers to make a difference)

4. sound system

and that's about it. neons, graphics, and the wing will make you look like a tool. oh, and the wing will also reduce the performance of your car.

do you want to go fast and have fun? get a RWD car. also (and this doesn't just apply to you, this goes for all of you kids out there getting your licenses soon), going fast along winding roads (which is the most fun thing to do) isn't all about your car and its performance, it's also about experience and BALLS. i blew the doors off of a BMW M Roadster the other day on a winding road on my way home from work in my parent's 2001 stock 4 door civic, which has a 1.7L engine. 40km/h zone and i was doing 120+, the guy in the M series car that has 330hp and does 0-100km/h in 5.0, was doing 50. this is because he's got no balls when it comes to driving his car. sure, i could have gotten to 120 a lot faster in another car, but i've decided to get an eductation and a well paying job before i get a car of my own.

i work at a mitsubishi dealership and i see 2nd generation eclipses all the time. some look fucking awesome, some are tuned to perfection, but overall they all have problems way too soon. ive seen 3 sunroof problems this week, not to mention its the car that gets towed in to our service dept. most often. i love to drive them and think they look way cool but i just see too many fucked up mechanically too often to buy one
 
my old v6 had 275hp and 315ft/lbs.

you my friend make yourself sound more and more like a ricer, yeah you have 205hp, but howmuch torque? like 150ish?
 
thing about me driving a honda is that i didn't really have a choice, on what i wanted. you did with your eclipse. thats the sad part.
 
go before show, do intake + exhaust first, then maybe boost it, or you can stick to all motor.

Dont get a body kit, maybe just lips.

Rims, 18 seems to big, 16 - 17 are nice.

Don't get graphics, LAME!

Personally I like sleepers better (my bros EK is fast, but has minimal exterior desgin, besides rims)

and to whattheshit. for what i had i could have gotten maybe a mustang gt, a 3000gt or maybe a a bmw or wrx. all of those are faster then my eclipse. and my eclipse has a top speed of 150. probaly faster. it was fast enough for me. and imo it looks cool so fuck off. also i dont know if your a wrx fanboy but my eclipse took a wrx wagon by two car lengths. yeah

Soo it is eclipses ruling the Tsukuba curcit, and autocross, and JGTC......cause last time i checked, there were no eclipses in those races. Humm i wonder why....ohh yeah, THEY ARE SHIT TO MOD. These cars are crap....fucking V-6 sideways.....what the fuck. Now not to mention the fact that the V-6 is half as efficiant as an inline six, it is much less structurely secure. Then you have the weight difference, you stuff a V6 in the front of the car, with nothing in the back beside the rear suspention, you get oversteer like your mind can't handle.

I will take my STOCK 1984 Toyota corolla, or my stock 1987 Rx-7, and kick the SHIT out of those 400 hp eclipses ( haha your soo full of shit) on a circut any day.
 
its really not that unbeleivale to get 400bhp out of an eclipse. i dont know much about the car, but i know you could probably run around 12-15 psi of boost w/ an upgraded block/ fuel system. that could easily put you around 400 with some tuning. i agree it wont make the fastest time attack car, but i dont think thats what this kid wants.
 
Where would you put that size turbo in the engine bay.... not to mention the valve train. I heard alot of BAD things about these engines.
 
HE'S 16!!!!!!! its his first car!!!!!! unless he has been working with cars for a couple years previous to getting his licence, its gonna be difficult. he isnt gonna be able to "just boost it." adding perfomrmace mods u will alwyas have problmes, and its takes knowledge. knowledge u can only get with time. exterior mods r simple, easy for a 16 year old wanting a cool car. but by no means am i saying dont add performance mods, because working on an engine is one of the funnest things ever, expecially when ur done adding a new part. but just start slowly. learn about your engine. add intake, exhaust. throw on some visual parts to keep u happy. and maybe u can get into more serious engine work such as turbos, strokers, etc. just dont get into heavily modding ur engine if ur not willing to constantly be fixing problems and spending lots of $$$ and time, no matter what kid of car u have. just my input!

and that whole spoiler arguement, i think im stupider after hearing all that. ITS A DAILY DRIVER!!!! its just aesthetic!!!! when most people r shopping for a spoiler to make their car differnt, they dont look at how much downforce its adding, becuase city driving it dosent matter. u just look at what looks cool. people like differnet things. if he thinks the stock, low spoiler looks bad, i think it would be a great idea for him to get a higher eclipse spoiler or something he likes better.

just remember, 16 year olds and 11 second cars should not go together. learn how to drive first

but thats the thing.....you put a spoiler on a front wheel drive car, then you remove tracktion from the front tires. This makes the car unsafe. I agree, spend your money on track time, and driving school. When you start to outdrive your car, then mod.

save your money and get a turbo next.

Hell, you schould never start with any bike over 600. You learn on a piece of shit. not necessarily a piece of shit; my first bike (current bike) is awesome. It's a classic race bike (gpz 550). My dad and I took it, rebuilt it and it's only got 14,000 miles on it. GREAT starter bike, but my dad loves riding it too when he wants to switch up from his triumph.
 
Okay okay... i get it. My new plans are just the wing, wheels and brakes, tint, lowering springs, and the rest goes into simple engine mods. Forced induction(turbo,supercharger) will maybe take place later, but for now just keeping it in my budget.

Oh, and racing chips cant be installed in a 3g eclipse, you have to reprogram the orignal chip.
 
and please get the best offsets possible for your wheel so that its flush with the fender almost. at worst get spacers for them.
 
your a fucking idiot, that car is AWD first and second you DONT need downforce to the rear wheels a FWD car, thats why you rock a lil lip spoiler for FWD downforce, to the kid who made this thread, Id say buy a different car, your going to be sinking money into a car youll think is ugly in a year, that will always be slow.Save your money and buy a nicer car, or a nicer car for the money.
