READ THIS 2>> Jibber attitude: Wheres the repect?

^ he is not sayin that its wrong, its just unsafe to do it in a crowded slow zone, because truth be told anyone that skis switch at a higher speed then the crowd doesnt deserve to be on skis becuase they cant ski. Any respectible skier that includes all pros have enough respect for fellow skier to not ski like a jackass, its not that you are out of control but you will be unable to stop if some one cuts you off. Our hills are becoming over crowded and with crowds come rules because lets face its, we have all seen it happen, when a little bitch gets injured someone gets sued

yah i totally agree, some skiers ski out of control. thats a known fact. weather they have twin tips or not both snowboarders and skiers will always have people who are stupid. do you think pollard just magically tried skiing fakie down a big line? no. most likley he skied fakie down runs more then he skied normally. Canadaskibum is just a typical ski patroler with the typical atitude.. i mean if hes gonna stereotype me and the rest of us, im gonna sterotype him.

he is not talking about skiing switch, he is talking about doing it down crowded runs

Has skiing really got to that point? For the most part, and I do say this generally, but people on this site who post videos seem to think they are pretty ghetto. The videos include words like 'suckas' and every third word is 'steez'. Some punk jibs some pinner ass rail in his back yard and he's got shirts and jerseys hanging out the side like a gangsta and he's all decked out in Oakley gear to look like he's sponsored. Everyone seems to think they are pretty ghetto and hardcore, yet they come online to argue about whether it was a '270' or '269' off the rail or if it was a 'cork 7' or 'dspin' and so on.

I guess my point is that why has skiing, or maybe just NS.com come down to all this arguing about such bullshit when everyone thinks they are so core. I'll admit I am an ass. I'll admit I'm not the best skier. But I'll also admit that most of the people on here are total tools who think they're ghetto. Do we want these skiers representing us as a whole? Skiing already has a pretty bad reputation in the general public. They still show the old school skiing from the 80's with no shape skis and one piece neon suits on T.V. So people don't even understand the whole 'revolution' (which will be the topic of my next forum)of skiing. Lets say someone who has never skied before saw this dude in the lodge all dressed sick like and looked pretty illin', but then found out he absolutely sucked at skiing and was a total online nerd arguing with his cyber butt buddies on whether it was a 'flair' or an 'underflip'. Who cares?

For those of you who are sick, step up and get these fuckers to stop giving skiing a bad name; for those of you who are not, go bitch about what to wear this weekend, or if that dress makes your ankles look fat, because we are sick of hearing you bitch about what your member number is and how much longer you've been on NS than me.

I know this comment has been posted I just think it's the smartest thing I've ever written, I wish it was for marks, and it corroborates everything here. SO IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY TO TOOTHLESS EAT MY FUCKIN BALLS.

I stopped reading the posts in this thread after Jeffy's, because he summed it up so well: SKIING IS FUN. We all ski FOR FUN. Newbie or Pro, old or young, 'racer' or 'jibber' or whatever's in between, we all ski for FUN. So drop the attitude, the name calling, the categorizing, and all the other bullshit. HAVE FUN. This goes for EVERYONE on skis, not just 'jibbers' or 'newschoolers'.

Now onto the other thing that caught my eye: Stealing from mountains. I ski at Whistler-Blackcomb, AKA Intrawest's crown jewel. If one resort in the world SCREAMS Intrawest, it's Whistler-Blackcomb. Yes, it's expensive, touristy, and sometimes not so cool with young people, and some of the higher ups at the mountain and at Intrawest aren't so cool. But I'd NEVER steal from them. Whistler Blackcomb works HARD for me to get a HUGE deal on my pass(university student thing) and they've always been VERY helpful when I've needed something. Food prices aren't even unreasonable, and the one time I forgot my wallet the head cashier at Rendezvous Lodge on Blackcomb GAVE me my lunch, saying 'I'm a mom, and you look like you haven't been eating very well'. In fact, she almost made me cry because I happened to be broke and hadn't eaten in 2 days because I HAD NO FOOD.

Moral of the story is that good things happen to good people, and that those who go skiing without an attitude and without stealing eventually get back all the positive energy they give to the community.

Well, glad to see this post has got some people thinking. And if you dont want to be steryotyped, dotn steryotype the ski patrol as 'fun police'. Sure there are some patrollers who cant ski, have bad attitudes, etc. But not all of us do. I have no problem with kids skiing fakie, going big, skiing fast etc, as long as its safe.

CUZ IF YOU GET HURT, I HAVE TO WORK, AND THAT MEANS I CANT SKI. And I dont bust kids just for the fun of it, and I dont really care if you ski a closed run, as long as you know what your doing. I just get pissed off when i see some kid flailing down a closed run, almost getting hurt, who then thinks he can lip me off at the bottom. IF YOU CANT SKI LIKE TANNER, LOSE THE ATTITUDE.

THE POINT OF THIS POST WAS TO PROMOTE RESPECT ON THE HILLS, WHETHER YOU ARE A 15 YEAR OLD PARK RAT, LYCRA WEARING RACER, OR OLD GUY WHO SKIIS ONLY ON SUNNY DAYS.

I know it might be hard to respect a guy wearing spandex, but trust me, if youve never ran gates, dont dis people who do.

Skiing is all about fun, while its fun to ski fakie at high speeds, if that makes an old guy crash and bust his arm, or even jsut scares the crap outta him, thats not cool. While I think that the ski patrol is often too militant, we do have reasons for what we do.

SO SHOW RESPECT AND GET SOME IN RETURN.

As the old cliche goes, Minds are like umbrellas, work better when open.

And Marcellus Wallace don't like to be fucked by anybody, except Mrs. Wallace.

BFSC WE DO IT FROGGY STYLE

yo i think this is an awesome post, and so true. i've seen some pretty bad shit go down in the last couple years with collisions, but that isn't new. the first 15 years i spent on straight skis, remember those, and we used to do the same shit that kids are doin these days. yah, we didn't rock the dew-rag back then we were doin it in neon cb sports gear. just because the style has changed and the tails are turned up doesn't make it wrong to go out on the hill and have a good time. i have no problem with kids rippin switch through a slow zone. where i do find a problem is when some punk rips through the slow zone switch and wrecks some 6 year old and then gets up and bitches out the kids parents. so go out have fun do whatever the fuck you want, but be respectful to the other folks on the hill and be prepared to face the consequences of skiing like a kid...and to that kid who was braggin about gettin on the hill for free, thats just weak sauce bro buy a fuckin ticket and maybe next year you won't be complaining about the park

Wow, great words by Jib This and Canadianskibum. I can see the whole problem with respect. Its odd that skiing is like this way. I mean many other sports are very different. For example, surfers are some of the nicest people in the world. Same with many other water sports, like wake boarding etc... Also, rockclimbers and such are great people.

But skiiers, I mean, some people are really harsh. And it gives people that are not bad people, for example someone like my self, which just recently bought twin tips a bad name.

I was talking to my friend about working as a ski instructor, Last season I just recently got into freeskiing, and this season I would like to get a job as an instructor, and she told me about the stereotypes on freeskiiers from the Instructor and Patrol. And you know what? I think they have every reason in the world to think this way. Because most people that hang out in the park all day, wether they are skiiers or snowboarders, they are mostly flat out pricks.

Luckily, one of my friends is a ski instructor, and one of my other very good friends father is a ski patroler, because I was told that with myu twin tip skis that I may not be able to get the job, which I was really looking foreward to.

This is a really good post and really lets people look back on their actions. Maybe they can change them, and make this next season better. And like someone else said, negative actions, have negative results!

Props to you open minded people who aren't afraid to speak up. As for respect, I cant throw a 540 in the pipe, and I have great respect for kids who can. I'd just like to hope those kids will have the same respect for my love of steeps and powder, or a racer's love of gate bashing, or the old guy who likes to cruise the greens on a Saturday afternoon.

SO: If you dont want to be steryotyped, then dont act irresponsibly, respect everyone, and have fun, cuz thats what its all about.

ski fast, ski safe

cheers

Thanks for the advice, I hope most instructers I meet are like you. You have a good understanding on how everyone acts, and the whole comunity. (Of skiing as a whole)

I luv seein parkrats bunched up & hangin on a big

pow day. More untracked for me. I say do what you want...just don't hurt anyone and everybody laugh and have fun!!!!!!!!!

On the kids on landing thing..im pretty sure they post signs around that say 'DO NOT HANG OUT ON TOP OF TABLES OR ON LANDINGS OR BELOW JUMPS'.

Or at least they do that at my hill..
