he is saying that we go into foriegn countries to defend our constitution, the "in vain" part is refering to soldiers dieing, or "risking their lives 'in vain: to no end : without success or result.'"

make no mistake im all about black equality, but the UNCF, BET, etc. are extremely racist...along with affirmative action...and its not just against whites..any mexican or black kid will be taken over an asain or white kid with actually better grades because "they deserve it more" which is complete bullshit....if they wanted equality it would be whoever is more qualified and they wouldnt get special treatment. Just because youre a minority doesnt give you the right to have special privileges over the majority of ppl. its people like you why there is still racism in this country...if we were truly equal there would be no question over race and in the case of colleges or jobs etc the more qualified person should get in. yes the blacks were enslaved but so were many other races in many other cultures but no one gives a shit about that right? if im not mistaken the civil rights movement was about equal rights...not more rights than the whites...didnt Martin Luther King say something about not judging by the color of the skin but by the content of the character?....how can this happen if there are minority quotas for colleges and specially black tv channels...this is totally judging by skin color...against whites.

and as for people speaking other languages in america the article talks about people working in restaurants and living here, yet not speaking english, not going on vacation, idiot.

im tired and have a bunch of shit to do otherwise this would be longer and more in depth, but as for now you are a swine who doesnt know what theyre talking about, blindly pushing for blacks "equality" referring to the civil rights movement while clearly having no idea what ppl like MLK were all about.
 
the problem with that is the equal opportunity you're talking about in this case does not mean equal opportunity. doesnt it make sense that people in areas with better education (whites for the most part) would have a greater opportunity to get into a good school and be better qualified, opposed to poorer children (minorities mostly) with shitty education systems and crime everywhere. affirmative action is just leveling the playing field.
 
its really not leveling the playing field...it doesnt take into account where u live whatsoever its purley based on race...there are plenty of minority kids that go to the same school as white kids but wil get in over the whites and asians just because schools have minority quotas. also just because someone lives in a city doesnt mean they cant do well in school
 
the goal of affirmative action is to reduce racism. people are generally so racist towards black people and other minorities because for the most part they make up the bottom rung of society economically, which leads to crime. bringing minorities up economically will spread them out among different levels, so the bottom won't be so concentrated with them. hopefully this will stop much of the racism that goes on.

as for doing the same with anyone of low income, no matter which race, maybe it's a good idea. i dont know. but i think affirmative action is more justified when dealing with minorities because of the possibility of reducing racism.

you are an ignorant fool. affirmative action is the epitome of racism. just because its not against blacks doesnt mean that its not racist. accepting people into colleges and jobs based purely on race is RACISM. whites and asians are discriminated against because there are more of them that are qualified to get into colleges, so those of minority races are chosen over them purely based on race. you highly overestimate the "generally racist" attitude of people in this country as i highly doubt that members of a college admissions board are southern rednecks that hate blacks for no reason. and also dont try to incorporate economics to make your point sound better because it is clear that you have no idea what you are talking about. first of all the sentence where you say "people are generally so racist towards black people and other minorities because for the most part they make up the bottom rung of society economically, which leads to crime." makes no sense at all. what the hell did this ever have to do with crime? swine! and as for spreading out minorities economically, there are plenty of successful minorities to come out of cities because of self motivation. there will always be a concentration of minorities in cities becuase many give up too early and then are bound to stay in a lower class, and some stupid government program is not going to change this.

and for lower incomes the words you are looking for are "financial aid". a person is accepted into colleges based on merit (or with affirmative action, race) and then the financial situation is assessed. if the person is below an income level where they are able to pay off the tuition they are given financial aid to attend the college and have to pay less.

in conclusion affirmative action is quite the opposite of "reducing racism" and in fact increases it, just against whites and not blacks.for racism to be removed there must be a disregard of skin color and jobs, colleges, etc should be determined based on qualification

i think you miss my point. i doubt anyone would argue that affirmative action is not racist by definition. it is. but it's not really harmful racism, and it's in place to reduce the more harmful racism that is out there. affirmative action is for the long term, and opposers to it usually only think of the short term.

you're simplifying the situation too much. affirmative action is racism, but i believe it's justified. economics does play a huge part in the racism that goes on now, maybe the biggest. the reason there is racism against minorities is that they are seen as unintelligent, dirty, lazy, criminal, and whatever else. all this comes from their upbringing, which is determined by income. i'm sorry if this is out of your scope of reason, but crime has a lot to do with racism. somewhere in ted's (or whoever) rant was that 70% of crime is committed by blacks. people see that and make generalizations about blacks, when it's not a race issue, it's an income issue.

yes there are some motivated minorities that make their way out of the bad parts of cities. there are also a lot of people who stay there because that's all they can do with what they have. what you're saying is that it's their own fault they live in poverty, when there are tons of rich white kids who don't try, but still are able to stay exactly where they are without doing a thing, while a minority would have to work his ass off his entire life to get that chance. this does not sound like equal opportunity to me.

as the article states, if u read it closely, the reason there would be 70% blacks commiting crimes would be because the areas are made up of 70% blacks..its a simple percentage that has nothing to do with them being black, its just the amount of them in one area

and as for rich white kids who dont try... that is an enormous stereotype and a foolish assumption to go along with all of your other statements. i myself am white and i work extremely hard to get the good grades that i have. im not rich, i go to a public school just like any black or mexican kid could do and i work my ass off. now your saying just because he has different color skin, he has more of a right to get into a college than i do, even if his grades arent quite as good as mine. that is blatant racism, is completely unjustified, stupid, and wrong.

and like i said before you dont need money to get into college. you can get financial aid. this means that any kid in the city with good enough grades CAN go to college and have a better life. there is no reason that they should be accepted into college over people like me because of race.

and dont try your stupid reverse psychology where you dont want to get made fun of so you say "oh come on keep making fun of me, your cool" and shit like that, because it is pathetic, and i will continue to make fun of you becuase of this. nowhere did i disregard what you actually said and if you read what i wrote, i clearly took into account what you said and decided that you are completely wrong. and further, it is obvious that you are a swine because you support racism.

i think i differ form you on the good racism bad racism thing. to me i would rather see a little bit of racism that will prevent a lot of worse racism, obviously you think affirmative action won't accomplish that.

i was using the statistic in the rant as a statistic, not to argue against it. we are saying the same thing here, except i was saying that people misinterpret the fact, which feeds racism.

i never said all white kids are rich and lazy, or even most. i was talking about the ones who do not try or are unable to do well who aren't penalized for it as minorities who decide not to try or are unable to are. it's impossible not to work in some stereotypes when talking about this. i'm sure you work hard and probably deserve most of what you get. on a personal level, affirmative action might seem stupid and wrong, but if you can see the big picture it will help stop the really bad racism, and when we get to that point the lesser racism of affirmative action can be ended. i would be mad too if a less qualified minority got into a good college instead of me, but it is necessary and i would deal with it. there have been worse atrocities than a white kid that loses their place in a good school to a slightly less qualified black kid.

i think financial aid is a good idea. i think affirmative action is also a good idea. but financial aid's goal is not to stop racism, although it will help. i think i've already explained how affirmative action will hopefully stop discrimination. if you want me to explain it further then ask.

i am very much against racism. but racism is an enormous issue, and if some not very harmful racism needs to be implemented to dismantle racism as a whole, then i am for that.

What AA is trying to do is even out the scales. I order for it to make sence you need to look at the big picture. Right now blacks and hispanics and other minorities have a lower chance to get into collage (mostly because alot of them live in bad ares and get a poor education) With AA the odd are evened out some so that blacks whites and everyone else have about teh same chance of getting into collage. Now if you look at the small picture you will think "hey but I have better SAT scores than some minorities so that should mean I get into collage before he does. This is a valid argument bu the you look at the beig picure you will see that said minoriety had a much harder time growing up and got a bad education so that if he was you then you would have probobly gotten the same scores.
