microsoft dun' fucked up again

DESCRIPTION:

Tomorrow, January 5th, a new variant of the malicious Internet/Email Sober worm is due to activate.

Past variants have had the ability to deactivate anti-virus programs, scan the infected computer for email addresses, send infected copies to those email addresses, and send out thousands of politically motivated email messages. The new variant may also contain additional, unknown attack features. It is estimated that past variants have already infected tens of thousands of machines, setting the stage for an even larger sequence of attacks and actions this time.

IMPACT POTENTIAL: This is similar to the virus that spread just after Thanksgiving.... expect to see an increase in unusual and suspicious email messages. If the worm spreads onto home computers and computers on the EHS campus, it could cause the network to become slow due to the huge amounts of network traffic that the worm could produce. Infections on the network could also spread quickly.

PROTECTION: All users with home computers are urged to update their Microsoft patches ( http://update.microsoft.com ), update and/or install anti-virus programs, install a firewall if you do not already have one, and be extremely careful about opening strange emails, and/or clicking on links in any suspicious email messages. If you are suspicous, just delete them.

Even if your computer is completely up-to-date, please be careful about suspicious emails from persons you don't know, or even from those you do know, as some of your friends and work acquaintances could become infected and inadvertently send out infected messages.

Additional information on the worm can be found at the following link:

im busy now and not looking into the validity of this now but the worst is when people say there's some virus and how to ward yourself against it but they are full of shit and they actually give you the virus/tell you to delete important sys files.

idk why but my antivirus shit and firewall all went down a couple weeks ago and i can get em up, keep getting a shitload of spyware and such too

"hahaha ya that will teach those damn americans!!! there computers will be slow and freeze, they will all kill themselves in insanity!!!!"-osama

ive scanned so many fucken times and apparently i got nothing. like nothing else is wrong except my internet being so fucken slow and we got ultimate highspeed

Yes, but it's so damn unlikely. There is such a small amount of MAC viruses in the world, and most have been stopped and are now dead. It's really not much to worry about.

My Ad-Graph teacher, whos a mac lover and our school comps for that class are macs, told me some stat last year that about 2-4% of the world's computers are macs. This obviously saying why would someone want to create a virus that will attack such a small number of the computer using world when they could write something else, thats easier to get through systems, and hurt more people...aka Windows.

^I did. I created a startup script that would log you off as soon as you logged into your account on a mac. As soon as you logged in, the computer would say "Shutting down in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Goodbye. And it would log the user write out.

if computers were a person, i would kick the shit out of them all the time. i really hate them. They are too good for their own use.
