the v pro rides great , but has terrible durability. Now that my ski is opened up, we checked it out and thecontruction is really poor. The way the ski is held together is not a good mechanism at all. The base is basically holding the edge in place. But the edge is brittle and when it cracks it folds up slightly and catches on the snow. The it flips up when skiing andrips out with a bunch of base and edge.

Which year model are those?

How long have you had them/how many days ridden?

That's weird, Volkl's have reputations for being really sturdy, and my V-Pro's have seemed pretty bomb-proof.

I think that is an older model than mine though, maybe the design was changed a bit?(mine are the silver ones with the fairy/naked chick with weird dreadlocks).

They look pretty thrashed though.

I don't know much about the guts of skis, but your core hasn't rotted or something has it?

 
i have v pros, and them shits is sturdy. i busted two pairs of lines, the blue then the orange skogens. i've fallen badly on rails and shit, sparks flying type of deal, and my v pros are fine.

i rodeone season , id say about 50 days , no urban rails, almost everyday iwent out somethignbroke on them , first day out of the seaons iget this masssive chip on them, within the firsth our of ever riding them. i cried that night

the model is a 2002 which is kind of old , but why woudl that affect nethign ? its ojne year before the models were changed to the karmas , polksu the edges are suppost ot hold the hsit in pace and the edges are doing nothing. the structure on the edge is shit, you didint take your ski apart and look at it. Then whatc h how your edge is just SPLIITING , pulling itself off form thebase ( on the tail) .

actually , that is waxed , just not fined down to be smooth because i'm not using them right now, and last year i eaxed them basically every weekend, so i guess .... you may be wrong. i'll post pictures of my other skis maybe then youll understand.

My v pros have been awsome, and i mostly use them in the park on rails, i have some major core shots but thats only from rocks.

im doign some major ass reperations on them , we sliced a an old ski in half and we took off a square of mthe v pro thatwas gone and were gunna fiber glass it on top , its madness , not sure if itll last on rails though.

I have ski V-Pros for ages and dont have a bad word to say about them. Along with the skis I have had, and my mates have had, we have had no problems with the durabilty of the V-pro at all. The have a decent base, and stand up to almost any theing. Having never cut open a ski before, how else have the suposed to hold the edge to the ski? Those are the 02-03 model in picture. I back volkl to be the best ski maker in the market at the moment. I have had base patches, repaired edges, and core shots p-texed, but I have killed many skis, and my v-pros keep coming back season after season. To the punter above saying go out an buy salamons, tehe, quiet posibly the most undurable ski on the market, along with any lines I have skied pre 03.

 
i kidna skimmed through your post and cant rememebr much , but yea the salomons and lines are shittier, and i probably did get a bad pair , and i probably am a pretty hard skier considering my last pair of skis are 10 x worse then these ones. im just jelous because iw ihs my skis didnt break :( . also , the edge material in the ski is too brittle , like if yuo gap rails seriously or somehting the edge does crack i have numerous cracks then it comes up a little and catches on ice/snow and rips out baseand hsit , so you have to make sure it doesnt come up. also its jsut a very bad choice of materials. like the top sheet , its sooo brittle and shit oh man, i wont start o nthat its jsut VERY weak materials for the purpose.

My 03 V-Pros took tremendous abuse before I lost 18' of edge underfoot (because I had about 2ft long core shot on a delamed edge I neglected to repair or 5 months).

I am now trading my single V-Pro to another guy who lost edge on his pair too. He'll be skiing 03 and 04 V-Pros.

I wish I could get another pair of 180s. I anyone has some to sell I'd be interested.

wowo, that's some action...my friend ahs 2 pairs of volkls and skied them a lot and they are fine....I got to ski one pair the beginnign of this season and I like 'em a lot, no problems yet

 
believe me, danny has the most raw talent i have ever seen out of anybody ive skied with. saying he cant ski well is total speculation, and youre just wrong.

and ive been with him for the majority of the time that he skied on these v-pros, and they must be a bad pair, because otherwise i would assume that volkl made horrible skis in the 02/03 season.

oh wait, i do think that, seeing as my 02/03 expressions fell the bloody hell apart and damn well nearly killed me in the process.
