I hate when Racers do that. I will agree that some racers are stuck up brats, but some are also cool, thats being stereotypical, just Like Jon Olsson was.

Yes but at where I ski in the Midwest, ski racers cannot jump, infact I am usally the only skier in the park who is not plowing through the jumps! SO I get crap from both them and boarders. At my hill, the longest steepest runs allways are marked off for racing only. And the lodge is invaded with ski clubs and race clubs. I got yelled at almost every weekend b/c I would sit down at a table reserved for racers even though they were not even using it except for there gear that was 'too good' for the lockers and needed to be left on a table!

But it would unfair to say this about all racers b/c a lot of them are just jibbers just like us. So you cannot attack racers as a whole, just only the kind that are stuck up assholes!

it really was one of the dumbest thing's I've ever writting. why don't you stop complaining about stupid shit that noone cares about and do something good... like maybe learn to become friends with the racers instead of automaticly classify them as stuck up rich kids who think they're better than you... 'cause not all racers are like that (as you know - Jon Olsson).. and one last thing - you're trying to tell me that guys who get sent to ski academy's and ski park arn't rich?

Your article has so much wrong with it... I'm just going to stop now before I tell you off too much.

yeah, well i work as a ski instructor, and every racer there is a jerk! going as fast as possible down an icy trail, using 6 yearold level 2s as gates. thats just irresponsible. the only cool racers ive ever met were twintippers who raced on candids, skogens, 1260s etc... wearing baggy pants and hoodies.

well those 'cool racers' must have sucked at racing if they raced on twin tips, but i know many racers that own twin tips to free ski on, and hey asin't everyone used 6 yearolds as slalom gates?

Hey I one raced on my machetes and my hoodie once. A ski team called me a park monkey, So I challenge the team to a race! I won by 3 seconds on a slamon race course against this midwest teams 'best' racer! Midwest Racing is a joke!!!!! Im thinking of racing badass style next winter and winning midwest comps b/c there is no competition in my area!!

ya, i thought everyone used 6 year olds as moving obsticles on the hill... Anyone going slower than you is fair game to come up and ski as close as you can to them and freak them right out... maybe it's not racers doing that and being irresponsible, maybe it's you having sand in your vigina and always doing the right thing... you probably rat your friends out with they get in trouble with the law don't ya?

i've raced many a races on my concepts...and i am not just some punk weekend-racer. I raced for 13 years and last season even though i was coaching i still won some races on my twins.

It doesn't matter what kind of ski you are on, its all about the ability of the owner.

It would seem that you aren't as serious about racing as you think are if you are racing on twin tips.

 
of course you couldn't compete in a F.I.S but i coach k1 & k2 kids, so they are pretty much just northern ontario races with some clubs from down south coming here.

oh no... if they might take my pass away i better not do it. why the fuck do i care? i do shit everyday that could result in my pass getting clipped, do i care no. i've had my seasons pass pulled for the whole season before but that didn't stop me from skiing. hell, last year i only had a night pass so i sked every weekend without a ticket (like hell I'm going to pay like $40 to ski for the day.

i got the ultimate...doing the t-bar slalom....we did that and put it in a vid my friends and i made....the challenge....see who can slalom down the t-bar line the fastest without killing anyone....(yeah, we got kicked out of the resort, but the jokes on them...it was 3:30, we were going home anyway, and my friends all bought child day passes!!!)

 
why do you ppl sereotype racers and use false accusations to bring us down?? yes some racers are rich bastards and some cannot hit the jumps like most of you newschoolers, but i mean i know alot of ppl that race and hit up any part of the mountain and are going pretty big and having some style along with that! and like mike was saying lots of newschoolers are ex racers so if you are gonna bring us racers down then you are also bringing down your fellow idols like jon olsson!

now don't get me wrong here and think i hate the newschool or anything cuz i love watching it and doing it myself, but i just don't like it when you guys are trying to bring down a fellow skiier who loves skiing!

so stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

man..all this racer, newschooler snowblader crap is like racism..lets call it 'skiism' lol. There are different types of skiers just like there are different kinds of cultures. They all have thier own unique aspects and different views, but in the end thier all still skiiers/people. So why does it matter? Dont judge a person by the type of skiing they do, were all still skiers!

Why even worry about it? If someone gives me attitude I dish it right back, or just ignore them (of course I had to laugh at this one 40yr old in a spandex cow suit!). I had no big problems with anyone on the hill this year, if ppl are nice to me, cool lets go hit up the pipe or whatever, if theyre dicks then fuck off. You know, a lot of ppl probably get pissed that we take up a lot of room for the park. Really, dont let it bother you.

Ski Bum I wouldn't call midwest racing a joke. The CUSSA program in the midwest has turned out plenty of amazing skiers. I raced with a kid who made the US Development team. There are a lot of solid racers on the NOR-AM circut too that hail from the midwest. Saying all racers from the midwest suck is like saying all jibbers from the midwest suck...it's just not true. And for all of those that are bashing racers I imagine that you have only seen it from a one-sided point of view. Being an ex-racer myself i have seen both sides. Go into the park any day and you will find some kid who thinks he's at the top of the game talking shit and laughing at people in the park. There are racers that do that too. Both sides have assholes and thats the bottom line. No sport is perfect. And as far as racers getting the steepest and best runs...well why the hell do you think racing is so expensive? Its not like the resort lets them take up the whole run for free. For those that are truly dedicated to racing it becomes one of the most technically and physically demanding sports...respect that.

we saw this guy at the slush cup at lake louise last week...he showed up at the top of the inrun to the pool wearing a tight leather racing suit, with a big white helmet with a plexiglass visor (like the hockey ones...no goggles) and poles that had some mad bend in them....everyone started to cheer for his outfit, then he turned away, skied to the lift and got on....HE WAS ACTUALL SKIING IN IT!!!!!!!!
