What are you flying?

I fly mainly fixed wing (3D fomies) but also have a Walkera Mini CP and recently a Trex 600.

also Spektrum makes the best TXs ever.

I flew an Align T-Rex for a while until I crashed it and I was too lazy to rebuild it. Never got into the rc planes tho. I'd really like to check out one of those AR drones they look sick.

I have a blade CX2. Its not really something for trick flying, but really good for learning on. I havent really gotten past learning to just cruise it around after replacing blades/landing gear so much.

I have no idea what they are called, but I have 2 planes that I fly around with my brother and dad occasionally when I'm bored during the summer. It's pretty fun.

Picking this up Monday :D

they should make an RC plane that has a mini paintball or airsoft gun, would be mad fun in paintball battles

Yeah it would. You would have to have a big enough heli to actually be able carry the gun, tank, and hopper, then you would have to mount servos on the trigger...have fun with that.

normally i just fly with the first plane i got cause its super easy to use, just 1 joysticks and some other buttons. but i also have an ar71 blackbird that is insanely fun to fly, i dont really use it alot cause if i break it there is no way i would have the money to fix it.

I have a foam gee bee but the gear attached to the shaft has been striped so its out of commission until I can find a new one.

I'm not really. I was thinking fixed wing. My aero design group is designing a plane to support a max weight of 55lbs. As specified by the FAA for the maximum an unmanned craft can weigh. They sell one oz co2 cartridges, would only need tenish paint balls, strip the marker down and the whole set up would weigh less then five pounds, simple. And what's so hard with mounting an additional servo?

If you want something to take to the field and just fly right away without much of a learning curve, get this.

I learned on the older version of this. It's really easy to fly, and really durable. Pretty fun, too.

If you learn things fast and want something more advanced, try this.

Just remember, NEVER fly in wind (While you'er learning, that is).

If you have any questions about RC stuff just PM me. I'll be happy to help

Word. So brushless means no gear attached to motor? I knew it was more powerful than the standard motor but thats about it. I could make that work I just need to tweak a few things.

Thought about making this thread.... #toonerdy

Anyways, my guilty pleasure is now spilling out onto the pages of NS.

What I fly/own:

Blade MCPx

Blade 400

Eflite Carbon Z yakSig Kadet LT40

Goldberg Tiger 2 with an O.S.60

Parkzone Su-26

Eflite Micro 4-site

Variety of scratch built airplanes made for the Parkzone brick

What my dad flies/owns:

Scratch built Super Tucano with an O.S.90

Scratch Build Chipmunk (in the process of being re-built)

Some Telemaster thing that was given to him and it's fun as fuck to fly. Bush wheels, whole nine yards.

.60 size Cub (The one that has the wrecked nose in the pictures)

We have some other stuff laying around to but it's not really flying or anything. Also I have some gear to build a 20-36 inch airplane at some point. Will be scratch build. What the hell should I build? Likely will end up a mini 3D airplane, something a little more ballsy than my 16 inch scratch yak-54 foamy.

Pictures of some stuff in the workshop:

We just switched clubs because our old one was messed up during last floods. New club is great, pretty good runway, kind sucks that I'm the only 3D guy there, everyone else is old guys really, but they're still fun to fly with. Do you have realflight G3.5 at all OP?

Been flying helis for about a year and half, I've got a blade 450 and just picked up an Eraser 60' glider a few weeks ago. Can do some mild 3d stuff with the blade (Half piro flips, inverted hovering, funnels, backwards flying)

Eager to get into a flybarless 450 if I can figure out how to fund it, Discus Launched gliders look unbelievably fun too.

I used to have one, but they crash hard, and I am not the kind of person who knows how to fix stuff like that. Twas a sad day... shits expensive too

Welp...I've had my scare-of-the-week.

I was flying today, not doing anything crazy, when all the sudden I saw my exhaust just fall right off....Luckily I was only doing FF so I hit throttle hold and did an auto..

From the looks of it, the engine mounting screw had come out and the vibrations just cracked the exhaust.

RC. y u so expensive.

^^Dat shit cray. I need to get out to the field soon. Just been too lazy. What should I build with my Hitec HS-35's?

anybody do any FPV flying? ive been really wanting to get into it lately. thinking about getting the bixler 3 (since my latest plane is out of service) and this FPV system
http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor...TX_RC832_RX_Sony_700CCD_and_C_P_Antennas.html

plus the $30 diy goggles.

Seems like a semicheap way to get into FPV.

I learned the hard way about FPV.

Here are my tips-

1. Know how to fly the thing before you put the FPV on it.

2. Weight is extremely important when mounting equipment so place things evenly throughout the plane/Heli. If you are nose or tail heavy then you may be able to adjust the servo so the elevator counteracts the weight but that is a half-ass way of going about it.

3. Modify the craft around the FPV, so everything fits good. That is why the bixler is such a good setup. It has a wide wing span which allows for lots of lift and stability plus you can stick pretty much everything inside which is nice in the off chance that you crash.

4. Antenna location is very important as well. You would be shocked at how much better of a signal you will get if the antenna is pointed in your direction.

5. Don't expect to be able to fly 10 miles away, it just won't happen. Depending on what you have for a receiver and remote your video will cut out before your control.

6. While going cheap is ok, don't go too cheap. (Just like in skiing, you get what you pay for.)
