RAW Timelapse Editing

Hey guys,

Recently I have been doing timelapse photography in RAW instead of JPEG. When I try to import the pictures into QT Pro 7, It wont let me choose the image sequence. Do I have to convert the RAW images to something else before importing them to QT 7? If so, what program do you guys recommend?

Thanks much

+K for help

i kinda just skimmed through that video and thats quite the process. when i do raw timelapses i have all my images wherever than just go straight to after effects, open image sequence, select the first picture in the timelapse and once you hit ok, the camera raw adjuster window pops up automatically, make your changes, hit apply or whatever and then it is already in your composition in after effects ready for whatever you want to do with it like color curves and what not. way simpler imo

LRTimelapse + Lightroom is the fucking best thing that has ever happened to timelapse. I do RAW timelapses with those two.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Im defiantly going to look into both of those options. I wish I could just use QT Pro 7 for its simplicity.

+K to all

The main reason I love LRTimelapse is because you have so much power with being able to edit the shots in Lightroom. Just google it and check out the tutorial on the LRTimelapse website, you'll see just why it's so great

I cant seem to find a way to export the timelapse from Lightroom in 1080p.. do you know how? im using downloaded presets

Uh, make sure you're in the "Slideshow" tab. Then select the preset, and below where you can select the preset, you'll see a button that says "Export Video" or something. Just click on that, and in the export window, it'll give you the 1080p option

- Import to lightroom

- batch editing

- export jpeg

- import photo to quicktime

- export timelapse

Is there an easier way where you don't have to compress the Raw into Jpeg before exporting? Also, I'm not sure about that LRTtimelapse program, but how would one go about graduating exposure changes? Or WB shifts from day to night?

Can you import RAW into aftereffects and keyframe exposures and WB just like in video? If so, that would be fucking badass.

yes, you import raw image sequence to after effects, edit one picture in raw, updates all pictures, now you have a composition ready to be keyframed however you want

ah ok, I'm an FCP veteran but I've never used after effects before. I guess I will have to try it out.

Basically in LRtimelapse you set keyframes more or less to the first, middle, and last (or more) photos, which you then edit in Lightroom, then LRtimelapse automatically applies the exposure, wb, etc. changes to the rest but ramps the settings between shots so it is smooth. it's hard to explain but a phenomenal program. also, you have the option to deflicker the shots.
