i have a question about the orders of the rasta colors do they go:

red green

yellow yellow

green red

or does it not matter as long as the yellow is in the middle..bcuz today someone told me it doesnt matter and also i've seen it both ways

Please don't wear the colours unless you a truly rastafarian. It's like wearing one of those little caps and growing your beard and little ringlets if you're not jewish. Maybe that will be cool someday?

its red white red

cat_in_the_hat.jpg

its green gold red like the kid said... after the ethiopian flag because thats where king selassie is from

yea its actually supposed to be gold, i learned that from listening to the song by steele pulse - worth his weight in gold

dependson what sect its green gold red normaly but if you're a boboshanti then its redgold green theorder coralates to what you put the most emphasis on

Green- stands for luch greenery of ethiopia

gold- wealth of black people

red-blood spilled of the black man in fighting

Steel Pulse will answer your question:

rally round the flag

Rally round the red

Gold black and green

Marcus say sir Marcus say

Red for the blood

That flowed like the river

Marcus say sir Marcus say

Green for the land Africa

Marcus say

Yellow for the gold

That they stole

Marcus say

Black for the people

It was looted from

but the guy about has it right... it depends

GREEN

GOLD

RED

Trust me on this one I've done my research

That's the ethiopian flag, Sellasie (Jah Rastafari) was emperor of ethiopia.

not really...considering he could of just went to google and found out in about 5 seconds.

rasta is getting so played...i think a lot of the rastafarian beliefs and messages are cool, but there are getting to be waaayy too many kids rockin' the rasta who dont know what theyre doin.

oh ya it's true. Most people who wear somthing rasta dont' even know who Sellasie is. If you have no idea what you are representing don't wear it. It's becoming too much of a fashion to wear rasta and people think it makes them cool even though they have no idea what it is. Many of them don't even know rasta is a religious belief

in the book Catch A Fire it said, red for the bloodshed of the 'sufferah', gold for the promised wealth of jah, and green for the bounty of africa.

I can't wait for when dressing like a Hascidic Jew is in style in skiing...Everyone rocking out on the ski hill with prayer shawls and yarmulkes.

BOyYEEEE... trust me on the bobo colors they are red green gold because they are a more redical sect of the religion and put blood atop the flag b/c they feel the blood spilled is the most significant part and thus they at time can seem very violent twords the babylonian culture which for all of you is us, and as my controbution to this thread i would like to know if any one knows why we are called the babylonian culture besides forfun cause he's a dope dealla

I wrote a pretty big (20 page) term paper in high school bout rastafarianism so this doesn't really apply to me but I don't understand why its a big deal if people rock the rasta stuff just cuz they think it looks cool. I say if you like it and aren't just some wannabe jibber that sits and watches people in the park then wear it.

ya i agree thats not what im saying. i still wear rasta shirts or whatever occasionally. what annoys me is the kids who, like you said, a. cant ski for shit and b.have no idea about the rastafarian religion and its meanings

Exactly, I totally agree. Nothing bothers me more than seeing rich little punks who try to be cool with all their gear and no ability.

it obvously wasnt very good because they dont believe in -isms and u called it rastafarianism.....here comes the hate... wait for it...... RETARD!!!!!!!!!!

My bad. Like I said it was a research paper so I tended towards using the terms used in credible sources. I think you'll find anything relating to rasta in encyclopedias under the word rastafarianism. But hey you win cuz this is only my 10th post.

Well CNN would be more reliable for a research paper than some random hobo smoking a joint who claims hes a rasta. But I for the most part used articles and papers from religious studies departments at some of the big colleges. Like I said it was a research paper.

You're just looking for a fight bro, shut your trap. Yeah Rastafari don't believe in the -ism schism, but this kid never said anything about being rastafari. He said he wrote a paper about it, HE could very well think and justify rastafari as an -ism all he wants.

so if you just listen to reggae and rasta and you rep the colours is that a crime? lstening to sizzla, the marleys, black uhuru? israel vibration?

Mr. Gentlemen is a white german guy that does amazing reggae. does that make him fake? should he not rep the colors of red gold and green(everlasting burnin' fire!) because he didnt grow up beleiving in rastafari?

the only thing i listen to is reggae, i love it, i love the vibe, the soul, the beats. im a white girl from vermont! does that make me a claimer? does that make me a bad person?

maybe the kid who made this thread is the same as mean and wants to know how to rep it?

im just ranting now.....
