This guy know what he is talking about. Toots and the Maytals are one of my all time favorite. SOme say they were the first ever real reggae group.

Not so well known, but check out Tribal Seeds. I'd argue that they're one of the best reggae groups making music at the moment.
 
Slightly Stoopid has a raggae album that is pretty good, sublime-ish i would say
