hey does anybody know any rappers or rap groups that are really good but not known that well? i am gettin sick of hearin all the gay mtv rap. thanks all.

Company Flow, Living Legends, Jedi Mind tricks, yes the Boggie monsters do kick ass! Pretty much anything from del (no need for alarm was his best album) Source of Labor is good although they broke up, Ghetto children, sinsemilla...thats all i can think of right now

I heard Nappy Roots while flipping through channels and it was on dawsons creek or one of those shows, I think that would somewhat qualify as 'mtv shit'.

I'd say Afu Ra, Blackstar, Reflection Eternal, Aceyalone, Bahamadia, People Under The Stairs, Pharoahe (somewhat mtv ish), Killarmy, Eyedea and Abilities, Non Phixion, Zion I......stuff like that. Lots of other people mentoined some real good shit too.

Yeah like c_lo said with a couple exceptions about everything mentiioned here is pretty meainstreamed. I mean wu- tang, meth and redman, these guys have probly like 7 million records sold and are in a movie and a bunch of commercials. They even had their own show on MTV for chrissake. J5 was undergorund but now they are pretty mainstream, even Kweli and Hi-Tek (who are tight as hell) are pretty mainstream by now. I mean I think if you can easily buy a cd for the rapper or group anywhere in the country they are pretty mainstream (doesn't mean they arent good, but they sure as hell arent underground). and to say juvenile is not mainstream and to reccomend cash money shit as being good... my god. nobody cares if you are into mainstream rap, becuase most good rappers are mainstream because they are good, but dont pretend like cash money or wu tang is all underground.
