Rape is a magical thing

rape and kinky shit are two different things.

the way i see it, and know it,

rape is when you get your ass kicked and forced into sex.

kinky shit is.. well.. kinky.

That doesn't make it any less serious, Racism is very commonplace and it's joked about all the time, what about the war in Iraq...every late night TV host makes his living poking fun at that issue, but soldiers are dying everyday...either it's all fine to joke about, or none of it is.

do you guys even realize the shit people go through after being actually raped? it ruins their life.

first you get verbally harassed. then physically. then you start to get beaten up. then you have a knife at your throat. at this point, you have no control over anything that's happening. you're scread to fight, because you think you'll get your throat slit like he said he'd do if you faught. your body is then used and violated for someones fucked up pleasure. after, its hard to have a relationship like you used to. you feel crappy, and low about yourself. you feel used, and dirty. you have no confidence. you wake up in the middle of the night with nightmares of your rape happening all over again. you wonder why he didn't slit your throat when he was two second away from doing so. you keep it to yourself for years because you think no one will beleive you. you have hard time trusting anyone, and when you do finally trust someone, you obsess over them like crazy. you're family kicks themselves in the ass for letting you go out that one night that you got raped, thinking its all their fault and they can't even look at you the same. some nights you can't kiss your boyfriend without being scared shitless, and you have no idea why. you're finally diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and you go through a shit load of therapy to become the person again you once were.

i understand that joking around about rape is no different then joking around about racism or such.. which i do beleive is wrong as well. but right now we're talking souly about rape, and i, personally, think its fucked up for raped to be viewed as desirable or magical or funny for even a second.

call me dramatic, call me a feminist, whatever.

lol, how could you ask that?

oh btw im talking about being raped by a hot girl. if she had a knife on my throat i would probably enjoy it more but like i said im fucked up in the head.

A Modest Proposal had a point. That's the difference. Satire is supposed to have a point, to vouch for something. It's not just a joke about rape. Printing dead baby jokes in the paper would be pretty classless too. Though funny!

im glad you threw that out there because it shows the extent as to what rape can go to. but as reviewed in anitaskis' thread in ladies man, rape can be much smaller than that. small as to a woman waking up the next morning thinking "oh fuck i didnt wanna have sex with him he totally talked me into it he raped me." even if it was through free will, if the person was seduced in any way whatsoever, its rape. sure this form of rape can be joked about but i wouldnt ever joke about rape the way you put it. its like going to a holocaust survivor and saying the "whats the difference between a pizza and a jew" joke.

yeah, i guess i PERSONALLY view rape a black and white. i feel like rape is too over-generalized now, to the point if a girl regrets sleeping with a guy she can classify it as rape. i feel like the way society classifies rape now completely takes away from the terrible, awful, life-threatening crime it is. i just see it as, you got physically forced into rape, or were forced into it in some kind of life-threatening matter. anything less than that, to me, is not rape.

that's called regret.. that's called not saying how you feel.. that's called being too drunk (not taking care of your own self)...that's called peer-pressure... that's called not knowing how to say no.

and what i described earlier, THAT'S called rape.

yah the fact that he wrote it is fucked up, but he has every right to say that. freedom of speech.

maybe your attitude towards that stuff starts to change when it affects you... idk i just dont joke about rape anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating rape in any way whatsoever, all I'm saying is that we treat it differently than other subjects that are just as serious simply because we as a society don't like to talk about it or acknowledge that it happens, like suicide, no one likes to talk about suicide...but it happens all the time, we just kinda turn the other way and just hope it doesn't happen to anyone we know, same way with rape, and it need to be out in the open so we can be aware and start working towards getting rid of it.

it's kinda interesting you bring up suicide. i always thought it was something our soceity has done really well with. or at least dealing with the problems that lead up to suicide, eg: depression. all the anti-depressant ads you see, the guidence councilors constantly trying to get you to talk to them, all the therapists we have out there working to help get rid of depression, all the phsych hospitals to help out those on the verge of suicide,.. idk i alwyas thought people have done a really good job with suicide working to get rid of it.

if it was a piece of writing, with a point made in a satirical way, then i have no problem with it. if it was done as a joke, wiht no relevance to anything and didn't make a beneficial statement then its stupid....check out 'a modest proposal' by johnathan swift for what satire should be

CCSU stands for Central Connecticut State University, so Connecticut.

Personally, I don't think people should be prevented from writing offensive satires. Rape may be wrong, but it's discussion shouldn't be so taboo.

Only in the past few years have steps been taken to raise awareness about depression and such, before people would say something like 'it's just a phase, they'll grow out of it'...until we started actually acknoledging that fact that it was a real problem. That's what needs to happen with rape, it needs to be more out in the open and acceptable to talk about in the public eye.
