I have heard so much bullshit on this site in terms of what people think abotu rap music it is just so upsetting I had to make a thread on it.
First there are people who say rap is gay and rip on it because all they take the time to listen to or consider before openign their mouths is the artists who don't even rap, who just release pre- packaged pop like shit they call rap so as to look thugish (murder inc. for example). I mean if you can actually say you have heard a wide sampling of the music and you really just hate rap itself then that is one thing, but at least consider what actually is rap before being all bitchy about it. I mean if I said I hated punk because I heard a blink 182 song and didnt like it and never listened to punk again but consider it gay anyways, there would be like 3000 of you flipping out over it, and rap is the same way.
The other thing is that there are these people trying to sound really hardcore liek you are into rap and all by saying you hate mainstream rap and all you listen to is some underground shit. Then you go and say that you like all these mainstream rappers. I mean how can you say that you hate mainstream and in the same sentence mention biggie and pac as some of your favorite artists. I mean biggie and pac are some of my favorite artists, but I don't try to be all counter culture because I realize that there are millions of people who love these guys, theyve sold milluions of records and are worshipepd years after they die by white suburban kids and black urban kids too. People who say mainstream rap is gay are just as bad as the first type because they are trying to pretend liek biggie is underground because he was an underground NY emcee before he went multi-platinum. I mean there are a lot of rappers who are mainstream and popular simply because they are the best out there and recognized for it plain simple. Of course you also have mainstream rappers like Cash Money who decided to start rapping with their money they made from selling coke and literally bought themselves popularity in the rap world.
I'm just saying people judge rap a lot more and more negatively than they do other music styles, so don't label it because each rapper si different and it is an incredibly varied music style that really cant even be grouped or labled. dont say you think all rap is gay, and dont say you think all mainstream is gay or whatever, just decide which indiv. groups or artists you liek and which you dont.
