no. Schmitz is right. listen to any rap song and then any zeppelin song and you can easily tell wich one is a song and which is a fun little tune that way too many people listen too. p.s. rap sucks

I was driving to school today listenign to rap and was thinking about fifty cent and his gangsterism. Ok, he got shot 5 times, so he can't duck or is to bad of s hot to take the other guy out first... Then i staretd thinking, he's a 'singer', really, thats what he is, basically, then i thought of musicals, and started thinking it would be funny to have fifty cent eminem and shit make a rapsical, rapping to a play about living in the ghetto, it would be hilarious. In my opinion. comment in passing

i think he means that lil jon is running out of new material (all starting to sound too similar).

but yeah, saying that rap sucks is just being ignorant. all the mainstream stuff that you hear on the radio and that all the little eleventeen-year olds listen to sucks. but some of the more established artists (yes, artists) like mobb deep, outkast, underground/semi-UG (tonedeff), and newer acts like jedi mind tricks, are good. and i only used to exclusively listen to rock only (ac/dc, zeppelin, cky, clutch) until i realized that limiting myself to one genre only is not only stupid, but doesn't let me know about all the good stuff that's out there.

I used to listen to rap ten years ago (Public Enemy, House of Pain, Funk Doobiest, the Goats, Cypress Hill,...), but for that I needed to look for alternative music programs because the mainstream in Europe didn't listen to it.

Now we DO get rap on the radio in Europe these days...but mostly bullshit. We 've got the mumbling 50 cent crapper, that Puff Daddy fucker and al lot of other expensive car and gold carriying materialistic 'onetimers' who like nothing better than showing off and stealing music from others. only eminem can count on my sympathy.

I suppose there still is a decent underground scene tough; since I heard the new Del on this site recently... :)

 
rap used to b great its kinda falling apart but i like rap in ski movies... the base in some rap songs stands out good so its awsome for some really good tricks... and i agree with whoevr said iljohn has no talent.. lol

The way I look at it is like this, there is two diffrent style of rap for me Soft shit (Ex. Usher, LL Cool J, R Kelly and etc.) and there is Hard shit (Project Pat, Eminem, Three6Mafia and etc) Personally I just can not listen to Soft shit it drives me fucking nutz, and for all of you people who say oh fuck them cause they are mainstream... isnt that a goal of every singer to become?

Yea I think rap is a very very divided genre. I mean you've got idiots like big Tymers, cash money millionairs, and others who just rap about money, bitches, and hoes and I think they suck balls. Other rappers who rap about meaningful subjects and have good beats are sick. Some rappers i listen to include DMX, jay-z, tupac, bone thugs and harmony, Wycleff, and on occasion nas, ludacris and p diddy. Mostly p diddy is pretty bad though

The problem is that rap music has been exploited by mtv, along with the punk music genre. It's become a commercialized image.. stripped away of the real heart and soul that was once in the music. Now, the real soul of hip/hop and rap does still exist, but you probably won't find it by listening to the radio. Most of these rappers on MTV are actors just playing the part. They are no different than boy bands only these groups appeal to a slightly different crowd. Alot of these rappers use commercial beats that some company mass produced in 2 hours, their lyrics are idioc and scribbled down in 30 minutes and just talk about bitches/cars/ and money - not because that is who they are but because that will sell records. It's all image, they'll say whatever it takes to make money.

Now, don't get me wrong. There's alot that I love about rap.. I have alot of respect even for alot of this popular rap. Whether you hate them or love them, rappers like Ludacris and Lil Jon have some tight ass beats. Lyrically, ludacris can do some amazing things.

Rappers are modern-day poets. It's incredible how some of these guys can weave a message into their lyrics all while keeping it flowing and constant.

And A great number of rappers started out doing local freestyle battles. Have you tried this? If you haven't, tried freestyling sometime. It's not as easy as you'd think. For this, alot of these guys get my respect.

Before you talk shit on them, try doing what they do. Try making beats, try writing lyrics that tell a story and sync with the beat, or even try freestyling, and you will see how much work really goes into some of this.

Saying all rap music is garbage and not music at all, is saying to me that you are close-minded and ignorant.

Don't like rap music? that's fine. It's personal preference. To each his own. You don't have to like the type of music but can still give respect to the dedication and commitment that these guys put fourth.
