Rant About Whatever

Employers also have to realize how to incentivize performance. If you're in a position with low pay, no benefits, bonus structure, or possibility of advancement, there's no reason to do a good job except for pride which people have in various amounts.

Case in point. Lack of leadership in the workplace is detrimental to performance.

Pay is good, perks are also very good, flexible hours. Idk what isn't to like.

Then leadership needs to prune out the dead wood and hire or promote some new talent. If the incentives are there and the workplace isn't totally toxic there should be no problem attracting qualified candidates?

My manager wanted to hire new employees but his bosses didn't want to. Then talked them into hiring me (for a position that wasn't filled and needed to be), sacking the other guy and bringing on a replacement for the douche. (not sure if the replacement is any better, 16, in school, doesn't know his abc's. Has motivation I suppose.)

This. When I was first brought on to my current job there was this guy who didn't give a fuck about his job. Dumbass DOUBLE REFUNDED A $12,000 BIKE. How the hell is that even possible. Also had a habit of ordering shit for himself and not paying, smoke breaks every 10 minutes and even going to smoke while in the middle of talking to a customer. Also in 3 months of working there never got close to completing the mandatory training. All employees are expected to build at least one bike a week (except for me, I'm the builder), all the ones he did had to be checked over (loose bolts, shit on backwards. Could barely do a kids bike.) His ass got sacked. To be clear, he wasn't legally slow or disabled in any way. Was a fucking idiot though.

End rant.

Sounds like every character in these show tires

FUCK YOU ENGLISH TEACHER. I hope your cancer comes back and you die :) also, you're fat and ugly after only two kids. my mom had five kids and is still fit and active and ur over here looking like fucking Mr. toad

I understand the sentiment completely and businesses should do their best retain and train up their workforce, however, at what point do we agree on what is a fair wage for the job someone is doing? We can't have baristas' making coffee for 30 dollars an hour?

I think there just needs to be a little better balance. I very much appreciate my dad's attempts to protect me from the dangers of the internet. But I think after a certain point it's hurting a little more than helping. And on a personal level, I really don't appreciate the social isolation that comes with it. I'm gonna be strict with my kids! But I'm also going to try and teach them to be responsible, instead of just revoking everything from them. Idk. I love my dad he is just very annoying a lot of the time.

I hope you're applying to colleges far from home/out of state. Sounds like you have the scores to have a shot pretty much anywhere. Or get scholarships somewhere easier, but still out of state.

Either way, put some distance between yourself and your parents. You don't want them visiting you every weekend or expecting you to visit them

And i hope this gets easier for you once you start getting acceptances. My mom was kinda overbearing in high school, but once i got into a good school, she felt like her job was done and left me alone. Hopefully your parents do the same

So you don't give a shit about your employees. Great management, bud.

Why not?

I'm familiar with restaurant/cafe management. If you had one skilled professional barista and a good machine they could easily double the production of two kids making minimum wage who don't really have very much training or practice? That would surely be preferable from a management perspective?

Let's keep wishing death on people out of the rant thread.

I was thinking this recently after a bad cup of coffee in summit county, co. Just hire a good barista and pay them decently. They’ll easily earn their keep.

At what point in time do managers realize that people just work jobs to pay their bills and actually don't give a shit about what they do?

It really bothers me how many people take no pride in their work, especially amongst younger people.

I work somewhere that we get paid quite well for the work we have to do and it definitely does not incentivize some of the employees to do more work

For some I think they inherited it from their lazy ass boomer parents

For others I think it’s because they feel like there is no future for them

It's not about the paycheck you're gonna spend on stuff in the next week or month or year. It's about the image you make of yourself. The character you build yourself to be for the rest of your life. The kind of person you are outside of work.

This is a bad, cheap, regurgitated take. Sure the future ahead may look bleak, especially for people who weren't born with a silver platter. But you really won't have a good future if you have this attitude. If you have an attitude that lets you work hard and do good no matter what the task may be, you will have a solid future.

Also an addendum to my above post, what YOU get paid shouldn't be all that matters. It's about a job that needs to get done and if you do less work, your coworker who gets paid exactly the same as you will have to do more work. Jobs are a team effort. Support your teammates.

Yall really act like boomers are wrong about every single thing. Then you turn around and say you love your grandma. It's hypocritical. Not necessarily defending boomers here, I am aware they have done a lot of terrible things and set up this country horribly.

Sorry I don't like to be a lazy piece of shit worker. I work to earn respect and experience as well as a paycheck. If you are sick of your underpaid and boring job, find a new job instead of slacking off or complaining.

If you work for a decent manager, hard work is usually noticed and rewarded. There are tons of terrible managers out there and if you work for one of them you should not waste your effort and find a new job, but sticking around and doing the bare minimum will never get you anywhere.

People that take no pride in their work are terrible to work with and will make any job miserable.
