All of ours usually have full facilities and food stores etc. yours were just small parking lots with nothing. A lot of the stops off i70 had no services. Just homes.
we did get off at one little town. They had a gas station and a mcd. Big time.

The amount of customers I've had recently that refuse to buy boots that would otherwise fit them and their ski level perfectly simply because the colour isnt what they had in mind is astounding.
Its all these nouveau-riche PRChinese or Thai customers - effectively the 'crazy rich Asian' types who are far less interested in skiing as a sport and more interested in skiing as a status symbol... to show off that theyre loaded enough to afford ski holidays abroad.
Its not like western customers cant be like this as well - but at least they buy something at the end of the day. Theyre almost always less concerned about the colour and far more concerned about the price - and will put their feet into an ill fitting ski boot simply because it was within whatever budget they set for themselves, rather than spending like 50-100 bucks more on something that would make them far more comfortable and less likely to waste half their holiday in the shop having their shitty boots customized.
Normally I'd never really be bothered with it, but it's just extremely annoying when you spend all this time with someone while other potential customers are waiting - sometimes leaving - and they then leave without buying anything simply because they cant stand that their boot isn't the exact white or blue colour they envisioned. Its akin to having a 6 seat restaurant, with a massive waiting list, and having someone hmmm and haw over the menu for like an hour before then leaving without ordering any food - complete timewaste.

tomahawked into a tree at mach speed on monday. got super lucky avoiding any head/neck/back contact but my left quad is still mad swollen and bruised up nearly a week later. weird injury cause my knee is stable but my thigh is still too sore to put much weight on. getting a doc to look at it in a few days so i guess i'll find out what's wrong.
and of course all this had to happen right at the start of the first significant storm all year. so i get to watch friends on insta get face shots while i'm icing and munching advil. delightful

Got the mountain at 11am and all lifts were shut except the bunny hill. The line for Bridger gondola was up halfway to sweet water mid station.
Nothing ended up opening today, everyone was pissed. Especially everyone who drove in from Denver & SLC.

And I find it highly disrespectful to fuck around and not take debriefs of bad calls seriously. Some of my co-workers act like a bunch of High school kids and its a scary thought to know that person is going to have your six one day on a bad call.

To recap: friend and wife got married this summer. It was a destination wedding. It was expensive. Bride punched my boyfriend when hammered. Bride and groom did not give any gifts to their bridal party which is pretty much tradition. Their friend paid for the open bar on top of standing in as best man (but wasn’t the best man), and they counted those gift money between dinner and the reception and bragged about it at the reception.
in November I cancelled plans to go to a concert with the wife. She was piiiiiiisssed. Even though they have cancelled on us sooooo many times and overall treat us like shit.
Current: We play volleyball every week together. Ever since the concert situation she has ignored me. There will be group conversations and I’ll go to chime in and her and the husband completely ignore me and the convo usually goes silent or ends. It’s been infuriating. It is so awkward to be there and I’m so over it. It has been 3 months and not a word spoken to me. I’ve sent apologies and tried everything I can but she wants nothing to do with me.
Come to find out THEYRE MOVING OUT OF STATE. My boyfriend is her husbands best friend and we’ve heard nothing about this from them. Just heard it from a mutual friend who said she’s not going to reconcile because they’re moving soon anyways. My boyfriend’s best friend has voiced in the past how he does not want to move, only she does. But he can’t stand up to her because when she gets angry she holds a grudge for literally ever. So he’s playing the “happy wife happy life” game and they’re moving.
Fucking crazy. I hate these people. I really do. I feel bad for my boyfriend because it sucks when your friend(s) move away but I’m so happy I will not have to deal with their shit anymore.

Just hit this little roller side hit expecting like 5 feet of air. Instead I got bucked and went flying way over the landing and fell like 15 feet to the uphill part of the next little roller (natural terrain). In the air I definitely was thinking I was for sure going to break my skis or hurt my legs. Those were fine but I hurt my thumb on my pole and really shook up my head. I immediately was calling myself a fucking idiot and had to stand there for a while, in shock and getting snow out from everything. One of the scariest things I've done skiing tbh.
Get to the next lift and all my friends already went up without me and normally I wouldn't really care but between hanger, sleep deprivation, and what just happened, I was irrationally livid. Skied right past them at the top when they didn't even ask why I was skating with just one pole and covered in snow. Just hustled to the spot we pre planned. A small hike leading to an untracked face with a couple drops and little kicker for a flip at the bottom. I didn't wait for them and hit the cliff so poorly, then got caught by snow snakes a few turns later and tumbled. I was so pissed I chucked my poles as far as I could and lost one while hiking to get my skis. I skied to another slow mellow soft zone without them and then skied right past them in the lift line. I came into the singles way too fast and caught my ski on a pole and did one of my own biggest pet peeves. So embarrassing.
I'm done I hate being so irrational and angry idk what's going on but now I'm sitting in the cold car and can't feel any positivity on this absolutely beautiful day.

Today is the most depressig monday in a while. Last week i was in sunny mountains as happy as a human can be and today i'm this depressing city in depressing weather and tired as fuck.

Every asshole that knows it all and bitches when mtns are closed. Idk, your always going to have shitheads and social media helps but people just complain so much and say some messed up stuff to ski areas. A bunch of CA ski areas were closed because 100+mph wind for days and people lost their minds. Many of said mtns mentioned before the storm that there were high winds forecasted and they man not open.
Kooks that have no clue about winds impact on lifts, avy danger, or just getting things unburied and open.
Powder fever cooks peoples brains. People need to chill out.
Had 90mph winds tonight at mammoth. Huge drifts across the trails, had a machine break down. Idk think itll open tomorrow and probably the same for some still closed in tahoe.
People don't get it. They just see storm totals and powder powder powder. Windslap city right now.
Be safe people! Also def cool when people aren't dicks to the mtn employees. I work nights so I don't have to see people, but I understand what goes into opening the mtn. I hate seeing peolle lash out just because they're mad. It's windy af, it was forecasted to be windy af, the mtns said it would be windy and they might not open, you came and now you're roasting them because its windy.

I am so sick of being sick. Living with roommates means I pretty much never get to leave my bedroom, I’m still showing covid symptoms so I’m following all the old guidelines. I desperately need food but my roommates aren’t reliable in helping out there, laundry needs done but the washer here is broken, it’s cold and wet out so I can’t really even go outside. Today is day six. I am over it.
