Rant About Whatever

I've recommended and helped a lot of people get into the ski industry. Don't think I'll ever recommend Crystal again. Great mtn but it's run so poorly. I turned down a job grooming with my buddy in Norway to go back. Housing was fucked. Friend who's been working year round for a decade just got kicked out of upper c lot. So now he has no trailer spot. He bought a trailer because the housing was fucked. Fuck Crystal. Glad I went to the meetings and told the new president how much he was fucking up.

Walmart gets tons of hate but its run far better than some ski areas. Crystal mtn is physically beautiful but run like absolute shit.

Fuck corporate ski USA.

if you have symptoms the cdc still recommends 10 days.

where i work, no covid mandates at all. its been up to the employee to manage their health ever since the gov sick pay mandates left. i have mixed feelings about it.

on one hand, people aren’t able to exploit the system. when I was a people leader with 125 employees in 2021 a lot more people were blatantly using the sick pay to not work and go to the bars every night. it honestly changed my opinion on people mooching off of government programs.

but on the other hand, with out offering that pay, we are encouraging people to come get everyone at work sick too which can be quite the hit on the workforce. and it sucks doing anything sick especially working lol

Okay chippy radio calls back to Dispatch ain't happening this year, chief. I just asked for a patient demographic and you got all catty-assed with me on the radio. Chill out. The patients mother was in the FAR asking about their son.
 
i texted a girl i wasnt interested in that i didnt want to pursue anything romantic with them. i bet she thinks im an asshole. but better than ghosting her or worse, sticking around an not being my authentic self towards her. probably not the perspective she has. which sucks. totally a very sweet girl who was incredibly patient with me as i am certainly a wreck. def never want to date someone from my work so lesson learned. i have never told someone i wasn’t interested in them before so the text seemed like a good step but in person woulda been better for sure. oh well.

then there’s the other chick that ive hung out with a lot recently but she didnt text me back after her drive yesterday and i instantly was thinking about how she probably wrecked and died and that everyone in my life either dies or abandons me and just a dark spiral of irrational thoughts until she texted back lol. maybe i step back from the ladies for a bit longer lol
 
i just love when my parents make enough money so that i don’t qualify for application fee waivers but won’t help me pay to apply to school. Literally have only payed for three applications and another’s due today and it’s $110. There goes half of last weeks paycheck

110$ is insane for an app, even states schools r 40-70. i got a fee waiver based off merit for two suny‘s but what about other state schools like UW madison or UVM or UNH, just not applying anymore. it’s very generous of my parents to help pay for part of school but i can’t even afford to apply without taking away from money saved for college

A handful of applications is a drop in the bucket you will be spending at school. Back in my day a text book for one class would cost that much. Gotta spend money to make money (unless you get a useless liberal arts degree and complain about your student loans for a decade like a lot of my friends did)
 
this whole power struggle with leadership at work and whose allowed to check who off and on what they're allowed to check people off on and leadership being mad that it wasn't done "our way" is kind of getting annoying. But at least all my medical skills are good.

I never understood why people felt the need to apply to a million schools. Pick one or two dreams, pick one or two that you're very confident you'll get/would fit in well at. Boom you're golden
 
So guys, don't say over the radio "Copy that, I'm warm and cozy up here" when you're stuck on the line when the chair breaks down during trail checks and you're stuck for 15 mins. My boss did not like that today.
 
It's for people that really want to get into a top school but don't really know/care which one. Really it makes the most sense for top applicants, not your average high school kid. Even if you're in the top %, you're still not very likely to get into each top 10 school, so you apply to all 10 and hope to get into 2 or 3

i’ve applied to Dartmouth, SLU, Bates, Santa Clara, Buff State, SUNY Plattsburgh, SUNY Potsdamn and my dad wants me to apply to U of Utah and UW-madison. I’ve payed for dartmouth, my summer coach payed for santa clara because he’s an alumni and offered too. Got waivers for the rest except Bates. Gotta pay for that myself, the padre offered to pay for Utah or Wisconsin cause we have family on Boards there and wisconsin is his alma

applied to msu and minnesota duluth, didn’t get into duluth so i went to montana lol

Holy fuck if this were the case for grad school I’D BE GOLDEN. I think I spent 2k on apps this year with no luck yet and there’s only 4 months left

Are you applying for PhD programs? Makes sense to really shop around when you're signing up for 4-6 years of slave labor

it got worse i got a flat on a busy road with no shoulder and my spare was flat which didn’t even matter cause the rim was seized on.

My right shin hurt so bad I had to ski down the hill with one ski, and whenever I leaned backwards my shin hurt like crazy

Hope it's not anything serious, but when I put my ski boot on today it still hurt so bad I couldn't have skied if I wanted to
 
You could have fractured your tibia. See a doctor

For real? I can walk around fine, and my leg doesn't hurt, but when I put on ski boots and lean backwards my shin Hurts pretty bad. Doesn't hurt otherwise

I thought I might of just pulled a muscle or something

My car isn't starting at the parking lot (i actually backed out of my spot before it stalled and won't start up after shifting out of reverse). I think it's fuel pump or filter related. Anyway, I went thru my insurance and still had to pay 260 bucks for a tow back to my house. Original ETA was 2 hours max at 1:50 pm. It's now 6 pm with no truck in sight. These kind of situations should provide a refund of some kind for sure. Wtf.

I get the roads are rough but come on. 4+ hours of waiting in the winter is ridiculous. I am extremely lucky to be stuck at a ski area where I can go inside to keep warm, if it was the side of the road I'd have frost bite on my feet already no doubt
 
my roommate’s boyfriend who is now also our roommate is watching some sort of slap boxing show with dana white. this shot is sooo fuckin dumb lmao
 
Tow truck ended up getting to me 6 hours after I submitted the request and the ETA changed 3 times. It sounds like it could've been longer if I hadn't called in and gave them a reminder I existed. The driver had been driving all day long and had more jobs after me. Every day like that this whole wintery weekend, it's insane. How can that be legal even? Shout-out to him he managed to squeeze my truck into my garage perfectly, but he was driving pretty tiredly

Some combo of meth/alcohol/bath salts/whatever tow truck drivers are into these days will cause them to drive tiredly.
 
Idk man, my leg feels only a little sore, but now as soon as I put on ski boots and lean back even a little it hurts so bad I can't even hold up my body weight

Hope this shot goes away, i wanna ski so bad

You probably bruised the fuck out of it. Keep an eye on the coloration, you’ll probably need some time off before it’s bearable again. A compression sleeve over your sock is some good added protection when you start to get back into boots

If it starts hurting to walk or stand now or in the next few days I think an urgent care visit (or pcp if they have imaging bc it’s cheaper) and Xray is worth, otherwise for sure take max dose Tylenol AND Advil (if you’re a normal healthy person). The compression thing is a good idea probably. Maybe stretch the calves? Now I’m wondering how similar shin bang and shin splints are if anyone knows
 
i have two email accounts for work, one for who i work for and one for who i am contracted out to. I have my contracted email on my phone because 99% of my emails come through there.

Get to the office today for the first time since Thursday, place is torn apart. Apparently a pipe burst and flooded the place in a foot of water. I had like 5 emails telling everyone not to come in lmao.

at least i get to work from home for the next couple of weeks.
