In a positive rant... fuck yeah I finally have my own ski condo! Lucky I found this place there aren't many long term rentals in these ski towns. Think its mine in the winter indefinitely reupped next year Nov 15-May 15. Hope I can actually use it 40 or so nights got a pretty demanding job and other responsibilities.

A nurse who was “helping” me set up my operating room today gave my surg tech double the dose of a medication. When I caught it and told them, they said “eh it’s not gonna do anything.”
Um… miss ma’am we do not practice medicine?? So I redrew up the medication at the correct dose. And it turned into this whole big thing. My surg tech was like “yeah I’d never question her.” And I was like well maybe you should?? Giving too much, too little or really any variation from a physician’s order is a medication error. It’s considered practicing medicine without a license (in the case of giving additional doses). And I(???) was the one who was in the wrong? No fucking way.

I’m guranteed admission but little to no aid and low chance at a academic scholarship, But the team was the best team i’ve met yet, coaches were amazing and campus was gorgeous. It’d be a dream but not for 82k a year ????the american education system even fucks the upper middle class god dammit

It’s because of student loans, demand, and a whole system that is taking from the next generation. It is beyond predatory at this point. Even $40k is a lot per year for a school. You can’t discharge student loans with bankruptcy. If you’re taking out loans that large, you better be a physician so you qualify for a physician loan otherwise it’s going to be a while before you will qualify for a house because your debt to income will be way too high. And once again - YOU CAN’T GET RID OF THEM.
So think about that. Don’t screw yourself over for a rowing team. Sucks to hear but think about long term.
Honestly if you can join military before, after or ROTC and become commissioned officer after or something - they hook it up dude. They pay for college, you get better debt to income ratio, they help you with your down payment for a house big time, etc. Not all military roles are
Combat facing.

Had some agro parent lady scream at me at the airport last night. Bunch of super toght connections and a delayed flight from the start. We made up just enough time it was worth giving it a shot. Gate closed on time l, no hold which was stupid but whatever. Missed it by 1.5 2 minutes if it closed 15 min out.
So they announced if you dont have a right connect fuck off and let people go. You know how people are though. Moving slow getting off plane, taking up the whole space coming up to the gate. Was running past peolle. Gave people the heads up. Lady was barely moving blocking everything. Gave a heads up. Almost stopped to get by them without running into any of them. I think maybe lady thought I shoved her kid.
Idk she was freaking out screaming at me that it's not okay and to calm down. Idk she was the one screaming. I was just trying to make my flight. Dumb fucks like her should at least stick to the side or better yet let the people run by.
But yeah missed connection barely and got screamed at. I think I only lost like 30 seconds trying to talk to her. I was taken off guard. I was like wait wut?
People are really stupid/selfish when traveling. You know people are going to be moving fast trying to make flights. 2 min would have meant being in NY instead of stuck in NC till today.
Either wait to get up, be fast, or very least stay to one side. That's basic etiquette.
Oh well. At least line was very short for the help desk and they didn't try and make the "weather " excuse so i got a hotel. Coulda been worse

The only reason schools of this size even have sports is to get guys to enroll. IDC about the ratio, what makes me upset is paying way more than the athletes while they get tons more resources and added components to their higher ed experience, bank rolled by normal students like me.

That being said, life's all about tradeoffs. Got into a school where I would be playing NCAA soccer. Decided to go to the school with better skiing/education and don't regret it. Still played club soccer in college. Could have been around even better skiing if I went out west, but then that would double my cost.
Life is all just trade offs and wicked problems my guy.
That being said fuck 80% of the administrative staff at any college anywhere. Your job is useless. You are useless and you should be ashamed of how much you take from society while contributing so little.

in reality roughly 1/3rd of the higher education institutions in this country are non-profit community colleges. these places are designed to have the lowest possible cost for students and in many cases have the highest average wage outcomes among their graduates
there are also a lot of lower cost 4 year universities that have a similar mission and similarly low pricing. Metro State in Denver for example you can get full time tuition for a semester for under $5000.
usually these best deals are for instate tuition but some schools like the local CC here will only require like 90days residence to get in state tuition

I'm a huge fan of community colleges. While they don't usually offer full blown bachelors or terminal degrees you are getting some of the best bang for you buck education wise.
Unfortunately, and this is another thing that really grinds my gears, large universities won't take community college credits 1 to 1.
In my case I took calc 101 in CC, with a professor that used to teach at the university I was going to (left the uni in good standing to be closer to family and avoid being tied to doing research).
I was not allowed to transfer that credit for calc at the uni. Got an A in the class. It ended up being used as a gym credit lmao.

I took community college classes for 3 semesters. I don’t know about every state but I referenced a list online of classes that transferred statewide and then referenced a list specifically for the school I wanted to go to and their cooperation with the community college classes
