Glad I went to the docs today. I was sweating the financials considering I went off insurance. Didn't think I would make it till monday though the pain was so bad. Couldn't fucking move, got off the couch maybe 4 different times throughout the day and the pain had me almost drop.
But found out I needed a small operation done(that sucked) and was like FUCK cause the guy was like "this sort of turned into a pretty big deal" and I was like" is that going to be really expensive?" Sort of trembling at the financials as well as the thought of the pain. He told me "Just relax as best you can and don't worry about the money" Didn't know if he was just saying that just to get me to chill out or if I really wasn't going to be completely fucked for $. I was pretty pretty drained as well considering I'd been in severe pain for a couple days, not sleeping really,etc. Just getting down there and waiting for the doc left me struggling.
Also found out I was a couple days away from it becoming serious/potentially life threatening and putting me in the hospital.
Any way survived everything(barely lol). After everything he mentioned that I needed to come back in twice, and I'm thinking "fuck more money" but he ended saying "but don't worry, those are no charge". Got up to find out my bill. He charged me the absolute minimum which was $86. I mean that's still money but my co pay when I had insurance was $20 to go to a doc.
Was so stoked to run into somebody who legit cared about helping people, understood that some people aren't in the best spot, and was just generally awesome. Could have been from being tired, and just getting beat up at the docs, but walking out almost teared up a bit thinking about it. Shit like that really restores your faith in humanity. Nice to get some good luck flowin.

I can't fucking wait for this election to be over. Every day I clear up a small mountain of election fliers, only for it to be replaced the next day. I don't get how dumping 20 identical leaflets through my letterbox every day is going to change the way I vote.
Anyway, today one particularly flier came through that annoyed my centre-right 'I'm smarter than all of you' superiority complex. (Centre right is pretty much communist in the current British political system.) It came not from the clueless Labour party, nor from the equally ridiculous Conservatives, nor the downright retarded UK Independence Party. It didn't even come from the struggling Liberal Democrats, and I live in Sheffield Hallam, home constituency of their leader and deputy PM Nick Clegg. It came from an independent candidate named Jim Wild.
Now, most of Mr Wilds policies seemed pretty normal. Playing off neighbouring city Rotherham's child abuse scandals, denouncing the extreme views of UKIP and the Greens. A fairly average candidate. One line pissed me off, and that was his claim that he 'would take a national average salary, donating the excess to charities'. You may be thinking 'that seems alright, what a nice guy'. My point isn't to do with his individual decision to do that.
What annoys me is that so many people think politicians should be paid average salaries, so they can 'understand the lives of the average people'.
Think about work this way: every person has a price tag for their work. They set it themselves, some are willing to charge £6.50/hour, others will accept nothing less than £500k/year. Pro footballers (soccer) demand tens of thousands per week, and ultimately they get to decide whether they will work for the sum offered. Logic here is simple - the rarer your talents, the more you are valued. Averagely talented people, perhaps with a good high school education, command average jobs managing shops and as low-level accountants, perhaps as local solicitors.
An analogy if you haven't yet got it: take these two prostitutes (example 1 and example 2). Far more people would pay for whore 2's services than 1, so she can charge more money.
The jobs of people who run countries are the most important in the country. If we pay them average salaries, why should we expect to get anything other than average people? We should be paying our politicians way above that, we should be attracting talented managers who have real experience and are properly educated (degrees in politics and philosphy are really not an education) and actually understand cause and effect.

It's so tough for people to even get a temporary work visa for America, where they have to have proof of thousands of dollars for sufficient funds before even being able to step foot in the states for a temp visa, yet some people want to turn a blind eye to the illegal immigration situation? It's bullshit to me. Sure, everyone wants to move somewhere, but you can't just do it like that.
I'd love to permanently live in NZ but you can't just do it like that. Some people who have had a couple work visas to a place, end up in a relationship and stay a while illegally, that's a bit different to me. That vs never filing any paper work, not even coming over a boarder normally, and just coming in all sketchy.
We just send em right back even if we catch them so they can try it again the next weekend. The world is getting tighter on immigration. People are struggling to get work visas. And that shit sucks because it would be lovely to be able to properly travel the world, and live in all these different countries.
Idk. I just don't have any sympathy for people who make no effort to learn the language/culture when they move to a country. It's a melting pot, it always has been, you don't have to give up everything to go to a new country, but jesus make SOME fucking effort.

I need to get as far away from my mom as possible as soon as possible. I tell her I'm going camping, she's okay with it so I head off and as soon as I start the hike, my phone starts to die so I tell her I'm dropping off the grid but I'll be home tomorrow (she tracks my phone a lot so I have to tell her when I'm going to be offline).
And so shit went sour, we accidentally wandered into some guys like farm rehab center and he walked us to my car, a fire poker in each hand, to get our names and information. I went to my friends house where I crashed for the night and I guess while I was doing that, my mom checked out the last place I was on find my iPhone, found out I got kicked out, then proceeded to drive around looking for me and going to all my friends houses to see where I was, and I'm now grounded until whenever she says I'm not.
I haven't even been back in my parents house for a full year and shit has gotten bad enough where I don't even just want to be out of the house, I want to be on the other side of the country. I get that my communication with her needs to be better but does that really constitute trying to file a missing persons case AND reporting my car stolen.

Anyone have experience with university record errors and stuff? I think they might have made an error on my final grade in one of my classes. I slayed all my final quizzes and papers/late assignments, and was able to get it up to passing (about 62%, failing is 59 or lower). My prof was very good at updating grades on a weekly basis, met with me a few weeks ago and told me i would be able to pass if i nailed it on the rest of the assignments for the term including the final. I did so, killed it on papers and quizzes, and brought it up to passing, but now my transcript record reads E instead of a D-.
The thing that confuses me is that the English class is a pre-req for another English class, and i was able to register for that class without any sort of academic hold or anything. Normally if you failed the pre-req, you aren't allowed to register for the class until you make the credit back up, so im thinking this might be either an error on the unis part, or i fucked up and need to re-take a class over the summer.

Failing it now 59 or lower? Jesus. When I was in elementary/middle school, maybe even junior high failing was 74 and under. Then I remember 65 being the standard in high school. 59? I guess it's just 5 points but damn. IF we start sinking into the mid to low 50s ever for passing that'll be a sad day.
