Rant About Whatever

Idk if this is really a rant just shitty stuff. Car breaks down at dealership I was going to trade it in at. Have to take a monthly car payment on new car. On way back from dealership get rear ended. 3 weeks later the turbo dies and I need to pay 2500 in repairs. Exams are fucking bullshit and honestly thinking about just dropping. Skiing was the one good thing but after my injuries I'm so psyched out about hitting anything my progression is zero. Not to mention it went from 25 to 60 degrees in about 3 days which means the seasons that just started for some places in the mid west is already over. My work is restructuring so I most likely don't have a job and the only good thing is my girlfriend but I don't want to pass on these bad vibes to her. Probs won't get any response but you know what fuck life and all it's bullshit for, real this downwards spiral is killin me

THE STRUGGLE IS REAL

also, don't buy a turbo car. I had one, tuned it, blew shit up, fixed it, blew it up again. Too much fun for young people, and with no warranties on used cars they are way to risky. Bought me a NA used car, drive the piss out of it, doesnt blow up.

maintain your vehicle and you'll be fine. I drive a Mazdaspeed3. I'm at almost 140k miles on the original turbo, tuned, with bolt-ons, and i drive it hard. Still going strong. Change the oil, check your connections, get an OCC. outside of a freak incident like this, you'll be OK.

So lots of fun stuff with work that I'll skip until the seasons over at least. But there's this race course next to our main park and they have gold, silver, bronze, and racer medals. So if bronze is like 45 seconds and you come down in 3:56 the guy announcing will be like "Good job jake on the blue course with a time of 3:56 good enough for that rrrrrrrrrrracer medal".

Nobody can lose these days. I guess I should be happy they still have gold silver and bronze.

Car is still broke, im kind of broke at least if i get a job out of the country, probably going to have to sell a kidney, testicle, my body, and my car.

Might be moving tomorrow. Kind of downgrading living situations but for the best actually as I'll be living in the town i work so I wont have to take the bus to work and hitch hike home. Also my roomate as mentioned above is on another level of special so i don't think at least I hope I can't do much worse in that department.

I finally got my fucking mail ive been waiting on for 1 month. Thanks USPS for sucking balls.

Big issue was the oil filter in the banjo bolt got gummed up. Even though I change the oil every 2000, but as soon as the turbo lost oil, it was basically the end of it.

Walked like 5 miles today for no reason. Was going to walk 19 ish miles from avon to eagle. Just got fed up with some bullshit, my car, trying to move, nobody picking me up hitching, and whatever and started walking. Really wasn't the worst idea but when it got really dark it got shitty. HAd no light and the road is narrow in places with lots of car dipping and blasting tunes. Ended up grabbing a bus home in the one town.

It was nice to walk for a bit though.

Me and my buddy did this down in Kansas City a few years ago. We were stuck there with no cars and just wandered around Town for like 5 hours I. The middle of the night

Why are there no helmet laws for motorcycles? I don't understand this concept one bit. Most of the people I see without helmets probably shouldn't be riding motorcycles/superbikes to begin with. call me a bitch but I would much rather be leathered-up with a nice helmet when im hauling dick at 80+mph balancing on two wheels.

Some states do have helmet laws

Fuck that shit. Fuck seat belt and helmet laws. What part of adult don't people grasp. Responsibility. Everything that you shouldn't do doesn't need to be illegal, that's just stupid.

I wear a helmet, I wear a seat belt but those laws should be abolished.

pretty good way of spinning it, honestly. cannot argue with that logic. if they get fucked up, then that's their fault. and we all shdoulnt have to deal with it.

the only thing is that if someone isnt wearing a seatbelt, they can seriously injure or kill others in the car in a crash. but i 100% agree on the helmet laws

Under 18 requires helmets in SD. Which I agree with. But after 18 I think you should be able to decide if you wear one or not.

One of the nicest kids I have ever met died today at the age of 16. I saw him today at a restaurant 4 hours before he died. I was one of the last people that got to see the kids smile. Life is a crazy thing.

That's such a bullshit argument though. Dingo or somebody was hinging off that in another thread last fall. If seat belt laws have anything to do with that, why aren't there backseat seat belt laws, why where a seat belt driving solo. Unless you're talking through the windshield into somebody else's car because that really happens all the time. And if that's the case, why are you allowed to ride a motorcycle? On a motorcycle you would be far more like to end up flying into somebody.

Idk, just doesn't seem to add up. And even if it could be pieced together, the likelihood of that scenario would be pretty damn slim.

And honestly if we really cared about road safety we'd make the license test much harder, so maybe people have some concept of how to drive before getting on the roads. Also go after people that are fucking morons behind the wheel instead of blasting away mindlessly filling quotas for speed.

The amount of people I see driving in shit weather with their lights off amazes me. I came up behind somebody the other day and only saw they were there because they tapped their brakes. Instead we add things like daytime running lights to make it even more likely that people won't grasp the concept of turning on their lights if it isn't pitch black out. Hell, even in the day I drive with my lights on because it makes you that much more visible to pedestrians and other cars. In the mountains, and back roads it can make a huge difference.

People have no concept of what a turn signal is and why they should use it. On the same note they have no concept of how to merge. People that will drive until the lane coming onto the highway ends and then just keep driving, no signal no merge. If you're next to them you're going to get rammed because they're just following that white line.

The people that have absolutely no concept of keeping a steady speed. If you asked them they wouldn't be able to tell you what speed they were going within a reasonable amount. The people that go slow and then speed up when you're in a passing zone potentially causing head ons. And in that situation the cops go after the driver passing for speeding not the person who sped up when somebody was passing. Again all about those quotas.

I'm saying, we don't give a fuck about all the horrible drivers, doing ridiculously stupid shit on the roads and killing people, so why the fuck do we care if somebody wears their helmet or seat belt even if there really is a legitimate risk posed to other drivers in terms of them flying away and hitting somebody and is somehow greater than that posed by somebody on a motorcycle in the same situation.

As far as the helmet I guess they could go under a power line, get decapitated, then their head could fly into the window of some prius, striking an 8 year old girl in the head and killing her. So now an 8 year old girl on the way home from piano lessons, honor roll student, girls scout is dead because some asshole didn't want to wear a helmet. Could you live with that? If you say yes, then I say no more girl scout cookies for you.

What don't people understand about having responsibilities? Jesus Christ I know it's spring break and all and that you're in from out of town and want to hang out but I have to fucking work and I have homework still. I'm not gonna be able to see you 24/7. Like I'm not callin off work the 2 days that I have it to hang out. I have an obligation to be there. What is so hard to understand about that? So many people are like "call off" "skip work" etc. Do people honestly not understand how stupid and shitty that is to do to an employer? If you're sick it's one thing but to hang out with friends? No. Fuck that. Im so frustrated. People need to grow the fuck up. Im sick of this shit. Maybe this is why I don't have friends. Idk.

Also been getting "let's get fucked up" messages all weekend. Once again I have to fucking work and people don't get it. I don't give a shit about getting drunk anymore. I have better things to do with my life and my friends don't get that and it's annoying as shit. I will drink with you when I don't have anything to do in the morning. Why don't people get that? Fuck. I swear every time I come home I get angrier and angrier. Maybe I should just leave.

this doesnt make sense.... a helmet wouldnt prevent a decapitation

True, just wanted to throw down some ridiculous stuff about nothing. And it was dingo or somebody that was saying that was pretty much the ultimate reason for the law.

Maybe if cops spent less time pulling people over for going 31 in a 30 and more time pulling over the asshole drivers that think they own the road or the mom who is talking on the phone and eating McDonalds while here kids sit unbuckled in the back, there would be less of a problem

Just watched a vid of a black girl beating the shit out of a white girl just walking her younger brother home. Beats the girl to a pulp while the white girl screams "what did I do! I didn't do anything!" As the white girl tries to get herself and her brother out of there this girl runs up behind her and assaults her, and her younger brother (maybe 6 years old) again. I can't help but think what would happen if the rolls had been reversed. If it were a black girl and her younger brother walking home, and they were assaulted by a white girl and a surrounding group of white people, what would happen? I feel it would be all over the news. There is such a double standard in regards to race in this country and its sickening. Remember the knockout game? You know who it was perpetuated by? Black youths. I spend so much energy sticking up for minorities on this forum, blacks being the main ones, and then I see shit like this and it makes me wonder what the fuck Im doing. This video was just so fucked it makes me furious, it makes me wish I was there to at least do something (everyone else in the video was just watching, letting it happen). This is racism, the racism that barely makes headlines. I don't know, maybe Im overreacting but this shit really bothers me,especially the hitting of a young, defenseless child. I truly hope the girl who did the assaulting has her life ruined. I usually don't wish that on many people but this one deserves it.

The media wants profit. The only way to do that is to get people people attention. And because we as a society are too dumb to be satisfied with things like scientific advancements and RELEVANT issues, they choose to report on things such as 'black injustice'.

Damn, not really happy my car broke down on the way there. But at least I didn't miss the worlds friendliest ski area.

My immune system is total shit and it makes me so angry. This is my fifth day in a row with a 102 fever and I'm now starting to have some trouble breathing. Called my doctor to make an appointment and she thinks I have pneumonia again. I'm so sick of being sick constantly.

Lyme?

I have/had a bad experience with lyme, so i always throw it out there. Half a million people will get it this year, the lymph tick is smaller than a poppy seed and opaque in color, only anywhere from 40-60 percent get the bullseye rash, and the initial test could be as low as 31% effective.

Don't fuck a round with that. I had virla pneumonia first semester and it was terrible. Like you it was 5-6 with a 102 fever or higher. My whole body ached and I had a nasty dry cough that eventually morphed into straight fluid I could feel in my lungs. Worst part with viral is there is nothing they can do. But if its bacteria you best get yourself to the hospital.

Yeah but what you should really be watching out for is stiff neck and fever. Lyme manifests itself very similarly to meningitis (I had to get a spinal tap to determine I had lyme). If she gets a stiff neck or further flu like symptoms than she should get tested.

Just the word Lyme's Disease gives physicians headaches. It can be a tough one to diagnose. Could be pneumoniae, infection, bronchitis, RSV, cold, flu.

Actually don't listen to me, just go to your appointment and get an answer from someone who knows what the hell they are talking about.

What should I do?

So I was going to move to the town I work because my roommate sucked and I would also skip the 20 min drive to work, the shitty drivers that can't do snow or rain etc. My car broke as well.

Went to move into a place and it was the underage ghetto of "I just moved away from home from the first time and have no idea what I'm doing situation". Other than the horrific mess this would be fine if I could be mind blowingly wasted the whole time but I can't with my head injury and actually need some sleep.

So I get home from that and find out my roommate quit. So now I have this hotel room all to myself starting tomorrow, or I called the housing office today and I can move into a studio with a bunk bed in the nicest building of that housing spot. The plus is that nobody is living there yet so I could set up shop, piss on things, and be the alpha male eventually a roommate moved in.

It's been super warm and not snowing ever so the drive isn't bad. Trying to get my car fixed tomorrow. I feel like either situation has it's perks.

I get free breakfast and balling movie channels where I live. I can take the bus to work. At the other spot I'd be in town where I work, no driving needed, have wifi still but no breakfast or cable.

It's a motherfuckin toss up honestly.

What a shame. I was under the impression that Jhole is a skiers mecca with tons of sick terrain, great vibes, and cool people. it seems like a very unique place, such a bummer to hear that there are bunch of turds running the show there.

on the topic of resort workers not being stoked, seeing all these liftys today not be stoked working on a gorgeous quiet Monday kinda sucks, too be honest. it was like pulling teeth when you shot the shit with someone. love seeing happy workers when i ski up to a lift. definitely gets you stoked on your run.

For sure. Places need to work on keeping their employees happy. Not doing anything crazy but not squashing the good vibes of employees that are getting their work done.

I rake out the lifties ramps every time I come through with a rake. Seems to pump them up a bit. Got a few free beers at the bar from some lifties so the circle of life is in order.

That's the reason I can't stand J Hole. I think it's worse than Squaw attitude wise.

I'll stay at Big Sky and have a tram, great skiing, and friendly people.

Somebodies gotta do it and keep the stoke up. Honestly don't mind helping out the other peoples here and there. Works much better than the lazy assholes that don't do their job and then try to get other departments to cover their shit.

ugh you guys would absolutely hate PC some days. its a fun place to ski for sure but man, some of the locals really do fucking suck. primarily the older ones. lots of retired, old curmudgeons with too much time on their hands. Very rude, theyre from that generation where they think its okay to be absolutely awful to employees of lesser wages because that's what they are there for, and they should get a better job, etc. all that bullshit. makes me more stoked to ski snowbird/alta because you meet couples that have been skiing since the 40's, and are just happy to be out making turns while their old fragile bodies allow it. Truly inspiring shit to see, I met a couple at snowbird from hungary skiing there since the 70's, and they were absolutely ecstatic to know me and my friend were skiers. they basically told us that our goals in life should be to do whatever you can to go skiing, and that's something I can get down with.

you'd be the best co-worker. especially during these muggy-ass spring days where the ramps are literal pools. rake, salt, rake, salt, rake, salt, rinse, repeat all fucking day long, park crew looks like a real fun job, not too many guys are hyped on it at PC. one of the best parks on planet earth and no one seems to be happy, people are just odd.

Honestly it depends. It can be a lot of work. At the momen I have a good group of guys to work with, but we've been working super hard all season and don't have the parks to show for it imo. That's frustrating.

We set everything up on mounds like it's 2001, then we hand rake all the side of it. IF it's icy we're trying to smooth it out, my wrist is fucked from falling on these piece of shit steep mounds. They also look stupid and don't ride very well. Even in our beginner park the dance floors are up 3 feet off the groun in front maybe more, and like a 5 foot drop off the back,So if you learn to slide it and you come odd wrong you're going to pick up speed instantly and die.

The way the features are set the cats don't groom next to them so by the time we finish our morning rake it's time for midday, midday it's time for closing, and in the end our park really isn't that good. Pretty frustrating. I've pushed the line on a few features recently making the call to set them up right. Our boss wasn't in for the morning after we set in a 40' mellow down so I moved all the snow as fast as I could and turned it from a 5 foot gap here the takeoff was higher to a super wide super mellow urban takeoff that you can come flying into(the spot sends you in real fast too from the rail above) and it rides awesome, but he wasn't a fan. Luckily that one stayed.

An elbow I built the take off for, made it fucking perfect, came in the next day and he said "Who the fuck built that?" " I did" " It looks like shit, blah bah or something" And we had to lift the rail up and make it ride ghetto.

Also as far as the huge mounds are concerned, there is only a small amount of snow next to the feature at the top, so when it's sunny as fuck, everyday you're trying to push more snow up to the sides. We're only running 60 or so jibs right now but it feels like 300.

I'd rather set things up in a way that they ride nice, look nice, and can be maintained. IF we did that we could double the amount of features in for the work we're doing and maybe actually have a competitive park.

I thought the corporate side of things was going to be the problem when I came out. Not at all. We have a tone of good jibs, room for 4 parks, 2 to 3 dedicated park cats that unfortunately have lazy bitchy operators.(everythings hand work). Once in a while I'll get pissed and just rake a feature like 30 feet out on all sides as a, "IS that fucking good enough for you?" thing.

What bums me out is that I had an app in for keystone as well. I go a call back from here like 8 hours after I sent my app in. IT froze my keystone app and I would have had to say no to a sure thing to get through to keystone not knowing. As it turns out i would have gotten the job.(I know nothings for sure but plenty qualified and they were still posting the job a month later) Actually sent an app to breck two weeks ago but I decided to send it in too late and they already found somebody.

I just hate useless highschool drama. Got to denver and my friend checked out my brakes and told me I was pretty much gonna die if I drove like that. Told my boss, didn't hear back till the morning, where I got I'm a 13 year old girl style texts back ranting about how I'm fucked if I miss my shift, woudn't answer my phone calls or text back when I asked if I skipped fixing the brakes and got back if I still had a job even though I was late.

Combo that with some safety hazards I've been told not to fix(won't get into that on the internet) It's just fucked.

Honestly an incredibly motivated crew of guys. Everyone works hard, even when nobody is there to supervise. Everyone get's along, nobody is lazy, at the day crew and leads. For some reason instead of embracing that and using it as a tool to build a sick park he pokes and tries to throw drama into everything and see what happens. He'll ask you what needs to be fixed, and if you say something valid it's like "No that rail is perfect" , but there's 10 rails(that aren't bad) that need work and I should know if I've been doing this for a while.

IT drags you down to the point nobody knows what the fuck to do because good is bad, bad is good, there is drama everywhere, and we just want to fucking do our job.

So now that motivated crew of hard workers, though still working hard wants nothing to do with the place. Can't fucking wait for the season to end. When he asks if we're coming back it's going to be a hell no across the board other than 1 maybe 2 guys out of the 8 or 9. A few people already quit.

Also took this job because I was told there was a possibility of dual park crew and grooming next season which I'm sure is total bullshit, and that we bought 7k worth of steel and would be pumping out features all season. Have build one little bonk all season.

It really sucks when somebody as motivated and passionate as me keeps working for shitty mountains that make me second guess whether I ever want to work park or even ski areas any more. Considering working this summer digging and then ending park crew work for a few years and grooming. Might be set up with a grooming job next year at another mountain. IF I do that going to work there 3 years til I can get a year maybe 2 if I'm lucky in the park a bit and then take over a mid ranger mountain somewhere and turn a park in need into the best park in the region.

All I want to do is work hard, and put out a great park. It's frustrating to work hard and put out such a mediocre product when you have no control.

Every mountain could have a great park, for the smaller ones with low budgets a decent park at least that's fun for their size, but it's bullshit like this that prevents in.

/solid rant

Seriously, that bummed about everything that I've been thinking of leaving the park, and ski areas in general after this summer. This summer will be 14 seasons, 11 in the park. Would be a shame to bail because there's too much bullshit in the industry.

Maybe I'll start knitting or something while watching the price as right, and stay the hell away from ski areas for work.

I havent been sick since like september and now i have one of the worst coughs ive ever had. This cold is absolutely beating my ass. Fuk my immune system mayne
