Not really a rant but it's OK.

I am on a XC MTB team for high school aged youth. My one buddy doesn't have a bike and I have been trying to get him one so he can race. My coach and I found him a super awesome bike carbon frame nice drive train, everything. He doesn't have enough money to buy it, and I offered to lend him the difference. But his stupid pride won't do it. It's just really annoying.

Could be pride but regardless it can be a good principal. Most people in highschool don't have a lot of money coming in. If he borrows money from you, it's not like he can deduct that from his next big pay check. If you're working full time it's not that hard to borrow a little until your next check, but if you don't have much cash flowing in, it can leave you in a bad spot.

Sure it's probably a nice bike, but mountain bikes are fucking expensive. It's a good principal to not borrow money when you're in a place where you can't afford it. IF he doesn't borrow it, he doesn't have a bike at the moment, but he also doesn't owe anybody anything.

It just allows you to live within your means and stay in a better spot with less money.

You start borrowing money when you aren't making shit and suddenly everything that's coming in is already spoken for + some.

I'm really pissed at how duck fucking shitty the winter in Minneapolis has been. It's been stupidly cold and the biggest storm we've had was 2.5". Most of that melted and what's currently on the ground is a 1/2" mix of ice and snow after a heavy storm of mostly freezing rain. This is the winter that I wanted to get out and bag at least 20-30 urban spots but big ups to the current weather pattern being stalled and leaving me in a fucking drought. I've hit 4-5 spots and only got a good shot out of 1 of them. It's possible to hit flat lip urban in Minneapolis but I don't have the legs of Michael fucking Jordan. East coasters better not take a single second of their snow for granted, and don't ever call yourselves the "ice coast" anymore after all of these anomalous nor'easters that come from Minnesota and dump a whopping .05" on us.

still no where near as bad as the west coast. i don't think tahoes seen a storm drop accumulations of more than a foot at all this year, and the PNW is getting raped with rain.

I'm being a horrible money manager right now. I dug myself a decent little hole with a credit card. Didn't max it out, not even close, but it's still not a balance I'm comfortable with, between student loans, a car payment, rent, utilities, and food, one of my two paychecks a month is basically spoken for. I want to make some big payments towards my balance, but it seems like every time I do that, I put myself in a bad cash position.

this, and not to mention if he doesn't get the money in time, you're gonna start hating your friend for not paying you back. money corrupts people no matter what way you spin it. everyone gets pissed when they don't get paid back on time.

Right, while he doesn't have a job right now he is getting one over the summer. (already lined up and stuff) it just seems like he should barrow some from me to get a rad bike that he will never have to replace it ever.

Money and friends don't always mix! When you're younger paying back later for an expensive item now sounds like a great idea... Until you have to pay the money back. I know how much bikes go for and he's going to have to work a lot of hours at a highschool job to pay ya back. Trust some of the opinions of the older folk and hold on to your money. Or this time next year you could still be fighting with this friend over money.

How much money are we talking? The summer is a long way off still. Even if it's totally cool to not get paid back till this summer that means that when he starts work he still owes you. IF something comes up he want's to do like get a car, buy a skateboard, go to a concert, even though he's making money, he owes you money.

Honestly good for him. If he doesn't want to put himself in a spot where he owes money that's nothing you can blame him for. Not saying it's a horrible thing to borrow money, but it definitely isn't a bad habit to go through life without borrowing from people.

Emergency things are different, sometimes shit happens, but if you can avoid borrowing for the things you don't need, that's pretty solid honestly. Especially in high school.

I hear you. I wouldn't be asking him to borrow a massive amount of money or anything. It would be around $500. Another thing is he is my best friend and has been for years. If he does borrow some I could picture it being awkward at times, however I am not the kind of person to really care about anything like this. I really will consider the advice you have given me.

It's literally been in the 80s lately here in Vegas. I wait all year for a cold season and it's not even happening. It's fricking February. I can't even wear my sick looking cold weather clothes like not even a hoodie.

$500 is a decent chunk of change in general, and A LOT of money for somebody in highschool. I wouldn't even want to borrow $500 now unless it was something I was going to have back the next week or to.

Understand you want somebody to cruise with but that's not cheap. ANybody in the group have a bike they could lend him?

Not really a rant but whatever. Sent an application to a mtn trying to get down on Aussie. Wasn't my first choice but figured I'd send one out. Got an email only a couple days after that I'm out. I guess they didn't like me :( or had somebody else in mid already. Kind of sucks because the application was a pain in the ass. Had some website troubles and had to fill it out 3 times. Almost said fuck it, probably should of.

It's all good, just business but just bummed that I wasted time on it lol. With an entry level position it would be cool to get through for an interview or at least have it be considered a little longer with 10 seasons experience in that specific area. Maybe I accidentally attached a dick pic instead of my resume or maybe like my parents they just didn't love me :(

Hoping to hit on some others, if not I might go back to NZ. Hope somebody wants me. Really only so many options for summer jobs so being out of the running for any isn't that good.

Dude I completely feel you on that. Online applications are so redundant, filling out the same shit over and over again. And dealing with crap web interfaces. All just to be told they already filled the position or some other stuff. Frustrating at best.

Yup. Leaves you feeling like "WTF was the point?". Oh well.

I have other in but it still frustrates you. Hopefully one of my preferred spots hits. Just want to do something meaningful this summer.

Big money big money no whammies.(And by big money I mean almost no money-

i love riding my bike around town but i also fuckin hate it, i dont get treated like a car nor a pedestrian so people take all these fucking chances and almost kill me 12 times a day.

I had a protected left turn the other day. Dude runs the red and almost T-bones me. This city has the worst drivers ever

Even the cops suck at driving. Two days ago I was on McCarran and at every single light between Safeway and the EZ Go he hit the brakes so late that he was halfway in the intersection and also an old ass fuck in a truck in an oncoming lane was in my lane and I had to swerve to miss him

That's the main issue. No one has one his size. I found him one that isn't quite as nice so he doesn't have to borrow any money from me.

abortionator is making a lot of sense right now.. I have borrowed money before and it is not easy paying back. I am still paying a credit card bill from when I was 19 and 20. And I am 25 now. The point is at that age paying back 500 is a huge deal. That is a big chunk out of what he is going to making this summer. And you have no way of forcing him to pay you back since you can't ruin his credit. The worst case is you guys get bitter about it and you're out a friend. I've seen friendships go sour because of dang ol money.

I'm sick. Like really sick. But my car is currently at the mechanics. I need to go to the doctor. But I'm about a mile and a half from campus. This walk is going to be terrible.

I love cops that sit on their laptops instead of watching for shithead drivers that cause accidents. I totally get there really isnt much they can do about accidents, but the least they can do is pull over the asshole texting-while-driving that almost put a mother and her kids in the hospital.

its too much work actually doing their police duties, probably. im assuming its probably much more fun harassing the mexican in his beat-up civic rather then ticketing drivers that are a danger to everyone around them.

Same, but graduate level thermodynamics. It blows.

Also, to the motherfucker who clipped me in the crosswalk today, I will kill you. If you had just been coming down the street I was crossing, I would've seen you and flipped you the bird. But instead you decided to make a right, coming at me from my blindside. And worse, you didn't even stop after. I know you didn't do any real damage, but you did just fucking clip a pedestrian with your car. The absolute least you could have done is stop and say that you're sorry. I hope your mirror is broken.

oh man, I feel this. got into it with some hair-gelled douchenozzle yesterday. walking thru the parking lot and homie was going waaaay to fast and swerved around me instead of slowing down and letting a pedestrian walk. saw him pull up front to pick up his ugly-ass girlfriend or something via his moms mini-van and let him have it. people just fucking suck, and will never learn until they do something horrible.

Fuck people who drive like that. If you hit someone or somehing you fucking stop. I was involved in a hit and run with I was 11 walking home from school. The dude admitted to being drunk and all this shit. I just don't understand how people think that shit is okay. I don't give a shit if you rip around an empty parking lot or through a field but don't be an idiot when there's other people around that you can hurt.

Ok so I am not a great skier. I got started way late but I just kind of through myself in and was doing rails and such by the end of my first season. Now, this year I continued to throw myself at it and get a shitload better. Finally at the level that I might be able to make a (shitty) edit or two. Maybe they are shit edits, but I wasn't so bad it was embarrassing. Now, I'm about halfway into the season and fucking dislocate my kneecap. And it wasn't even skiing. So my season is over and I'm probably going to redislocate at some point in time so my hopes of ever having a full ski season are basically fucked. And I'm probably going to have early arthritis. Fuck.

Trying to do a written application for high cascade but i live in a hotel with a roomate. Gave up on trying to find a quite place. Fuck. Could have done it yesterday because I didn't work in the AM but the printer was fucked.

Oh well. Fuck written applications.

13340061:Nep.Tuna said:

Unfortunately not. On the plus I do have a 2 burner stove top and full fridge sink and microwave in my room though. Also have a small gym, coin laundry and free breakfast. The breakfast area kind of combos as a meeting room but there are tvs and people were watching tv in there aka no helpful.

I'm hoping that if I'm not hungover tomorrow I can just push through and deal with it. Reminds me of school. I'm fucking horrible at paperwork and working in distracting areas. I get frustrated really easily. Never did any of my homework because of that and other reasons.

Just hoping to pull it off tomorrow page by page. I wish I could just do it online. After my luck with another application I'm sorta over putting in too much effort lol.

Might just say fuck it and bank on working down under again. Sometime I'll work at one of the summer camps though. Some time.

I got stuck behind a car going below the speed limit today (besides the point) and she had a bumper sticker that read "Peace is the Church's problem". Also, she had one that read "every life counts no matter how small" with a picture of a fetus on it. I won't dwell on the latter one because that is matter of opinion. However, if peace is the church's problem why the fuck are there so many holy wars throughout history. I am so confused and GODDAMN why was she going so slow?

its all the same shit to me, honestly. Annies, kraft, velveeta, etc. There is no way they can get the cheese into those packets without it being stuffed with GMO's and other nasty food shit.

that being said, I would absolutely love a bowl of some velveeta shells and cheese.
