Rant About Whatever

They’ve been hitting me up for a donation of any sort since I graduated. A lot of donations at big colleges are a scam. I listened to a revisionist history podcast episode on it once and it totally changed how I viewed collegiate donations.

well im assuming nil is primarily supporting the glamorous positions like (in order) qb, wr, rb, te, db, lb and much lower on the totum pole is o and d line. CU will be trash until they put some emphasis on their o line.
 
So I get the ads but this is some bullshit. It’s basically impossible to close out if you have a phone protector with a raised edge.

i don't care how much they get paid i just think the free agent vibe sucks. only reason i watch CFB over NFL is because they're ostensibly playing "for my school." now they just happen to wear the uniform until someone hands them a larger bag. one of our players from last year dipped to play for our rival which would be fucking unthinkable ten years ago.

to put it short i think NIL is a good thing but they need to go back to limiting transfers. otherwise i'll just go watch the broncos or some shit.
 
just get rid of college sports, let the leagues develope their own players. Sorry people that do other sports that nobody watches.

no reason we can't have both. hockey has a ton of minor/junior leagues but also drafts players from the NCAA. football would be wise do the same

Hockeys its own unique breed. Drafting people out of high school, college. Feels like they take some kids straight out of optimist with how young they look

Baseball is the same way. High school, college, some training camp in the Dominican Republic and you're 15, all potentially major leaguers with the right development.

ahhh yeah i see it. does seem like [tag=1706]@Mr.Bishop[/tag] doing for sure. i get the need for ads to run this site we love but the pop up that you cant click out of is excessive.

the idea of paying to get rid of ads is an intriguing one. i would guess it would have to be a subscription cause if it was a one time thing then once all the core users got it the money would be gone long term. i’m assuming the more user targeted ads with ski brands or outdoor companies has less of an ROI?? or theres not enough interest??
 
Shits crazy annoying. I used to let ads run on NS as support but now I'm back to adblock. You literally can't use the website with the current ad layouts
 
its my second season mountain biking and holy fuck have i loved it. slow start as i fell on a group ride in front of everyone and then less than a week later i fell again from a windy jump. but lately ive been absolutely rippin (for me). so im kinda bummed its closing weekend. especially since october is looking hot and dry. good for avalanches though. hoping for a dry as fuck october and then straight into a banger november with no more than 5 days without snow so facets never get a chance to build. ill hold my breath lmao

usually at this time of year there’s some freshies on existing snow patches but there ain’t any right now. This exact weekend last year I was skiing like 3” fresh in rmnp
 
Left a shit review of my primary care doc because her office fucking sucks. And the review got deleted and contemplated adding another one but what’s the point if they’re just going to delete it.

they’ve rescheduled a couple of my appointments without notifying me. I can see on the patient portal when my doc requested the reschedule and her nurse makes a comment/addendum saying I was contacted for reschedule and I wasn’t!!! So. Basically the nurse is changing my appointment to days I can’t make work (I’m only off on Fridays). When I call, no one answers!! I sit on the phone ringing for 45 minutes before it forces me to go to voicemail and then no one calls me back! So I end up cancelling because I have no other choice. And now I’ve been sick for 8 days and need to be seen and they won’t see me because I’m “no longer a patient” because it’s been over 12 months since I’ve been seen. It’s been 13 months. What 28 year old (who is relatively healthy) needs to see a doctor yearly be so for fucking real. So I left a shit review and they deleted it. And I’m on my own to find another PCP.

Cant wait to be done with grad school and have my own patients and not treat them like absolutely garbage.

I remember my parents talking about “hot dog hockey” where programs select who has promise at a very young age and just push them through. Now I wasn’t good enough to say it was wealth/politics that kept me off elite select teams, but you can really see it in soccer. You know we have great soccer talent in US, but the good players don’t come from affluent families and ultimately get squeezed out by an inferior player from a family with control. And I watch college hockey, you have these wildly “loaded” teams like Michigan and Minnesota, yet it’s the Denver’s and Duluth’s winning the championships. Let’s just say I’m very skeptical of the criteria of our draft classes

Glad you guys are talking about the ads too. I always figured a page and/or my phone was hacked by visiting that site, turns out PE is what does the hacks. Unusually I just switch to Brace/adblocker to visit those sites with oppressive ads

anyways yes fuck NIL I’m fine with players getting paid but the financial aspect and transfer portal is just making me not care. Also fuck the Big 10

Youth soccer development in the US is so bad and costly at every turn; we had a kid at my school get into the Revs academy system and drop out because he was getting more relevant coaching out of Sunday league games with the Colombian and Guatemalan uncs at his local park than the MLS academy.

Malcolm Gladwell looked into this in his book, Outliers. The biggest correlation to skill in hockey is birthdate. Kids born right after the cutoff for youth teams (usually in January) start out older and bigger than their teammates. The 6 year old is more useful and coachable than his 5 year old teammates, so he gets the most coaching and the gap widens. It continues each season up to the NHL where players are way more likely to be born in Jan-March than Oct-Dec

This heat makes me want to leave Denver. I am seriously so over it. This is fucking ridiculous. If I wanted this, I would move back to the SOUTH. Heat makes me so fucking irritated and cranky. I HATE HATE HATE IT. It sucks the energy from you, makes you tired, makes you cranky. This might be my first real rant where IM FUCKING PISSED OFF WRITING IT!!! I truly hate this fucking heat. Skateparks are unbearable especially if you had a few beers the night before. It’s like a sauna.

Idk if y’all experience this too but I’m so fucking pissed rn about streaming services. EVERY FUCKING NFL GAME IS ON A DIFFERENT APP. can I please just watch all the games on cable without having to buy paramount plus or fubo fucking premium to watch a game where both sides are scoring points? Istg the only games I ever have access to are the blowouts that drag on for 3 hours. And if you want to have access to every game in the same place without having to switch apps during ads you need to pay google 500 FUCKING DOLLARS for Sunday ticket.

Was gonna fly out to Idaho and shred with the homies over spring break, but it turns out my program doesn't actually have any breaks, aside from Christmas. I really don't like Christmas skiing, but it looks like its gonna be my only opportunity this year.

I've seen videos of people being given tickets because they were driving under the speed limit and some lunatic cop thought it was suspicious. Like 55 in a 60. Those are the kind of people I would prefer not to have guns. Who knows how they would handle a situation like mis-identifying a suspect (grabbing the wrong guy.) probably shoot first ask questions later.
