trixta almost all of my friends in canada absolutly hate baseball. baseball isnt a canadian sport. there are a few good canadians but for the most part not. new york is like baseball mecca. thats why it would be such a big deal.

Yeah but that has nothing to do with the fact that Joe Carter is great for that homerun, but he gets no recognition because he's not American. But I get where you're coming from, and thats what pisses me off. That Canadian baseball isn't huge, and because of that, that homerun never happened.

Let me ask you this. How often to you hear about homeruns like that? How often to you hear about perfect games? Every so often. Sure they're tough to do, and a rare thing... but they do happen. Homeruns like that do not.

And yes, it did happen a while ago so I understand that it's kinda died, but it was never really big because he's not part of an American ball club, like the Yankees. If Jeter had done that like Carter did, he would have been nominated for the most outstanding human being of the 20th century.

game winning HR's are more a case of being in the right place at the right time. the circumstances that are necessary for those are rare.

the circumstances necessary to pitch a perfect game are present at every single MLB game played ever single year. thats thousands of games, as opposed to one or two games a year. the game winner is more a case of chance. the perfect game is more a case of skill. that is why the perfect game is more impressive skill wise.

Their rotation still doesn't strike too much fear in me, Jarret Wright has had one good year, and may be injured, Pavano is going to be a bust, Kevin Brown, if they can't get rid of him is a steriod freak who will never and has never pitched an entire season. El Dueche is 50 years old, and they have no young talent.

Jrich is definitly right, Jaret Wright isn't that great, he had one good year and isn't very far off being removed from surgery, Carl Pavano isn't that scary either w/ 6 years of being mediocre then having one good year. He went 18-8 last year and still does not have a record of .500 or better. Mussina is getting old and had a rough year last year and we all know Brown sucks. They lost who I thouhgt might be their best pitcher in Jon Lieber (who I was hoping the sox would sign.) They are trading a young Javier Vazquez who still has a chance to be really solid for a 41 year old RJ. Granted the Red Sox rotation sucks but I still do not believe the Yanks are that supieror
