Random question about rails

When you guys are coming up to a rail (non-urban kind, with a lip), do you come at it straight on lined up with the rail, or like a little off to the side as if it were urban? I grind left foot forward, and I always ride up to the lip a little bit to the left of the rail.
Just hadn't really ever heard this discussed, and only recently started noticing I always do this. If its a bad habit I want to break it now while I still can.

why in the fuck would it be troll? valid point of discussion.
i find its easier to start a front rotation coming in from one side, where backside rotations are easier coming in over the rail

Has anyone every noticed that the first response on threads never contribute to the thread at all??? They are always smart ass comments.

it depends. if the rail is higher than the lip/takeoff, from the side. if they are the same height then straight up the middle

yeah usually some fag who thinks their going to get some karma points for ripping on someone asking a legitimate question.

and than some fag comes along trying to get karma points for ripping on the person ripping on the person asking a legitimate question

depends what trick im going for. if its a front switch up then i come in a bit from the side to set my edge.

for me it depends on the whole condition of the setup. let's say the lip is just a beauty, and it's higher than the rail and theres a nice gap and whatnot, ill go with the rail between my legs. but if te lip is all sketch and deformed and the rail is higher than the lip and its all fucked, ill get on urban style.

coming onto a rail urban style or from the side really isn't a bad habit at all. it puts your weight forwards which forces you to grip harder to stay on the rail which will lead to faster/better spins off.
or at least thats what i find. some people are just more comfortable coming on centered.

It really depends on the rail but I would say most cases, straight on. C/S rails I usually go on from the side for obvious reasons. I think if you are coming on from the side to like a gap on rail you are definitely doing it the hard way since you have to kind of judge where you will be over the rail when you hit it. If you just go straight over it, it doesn't really matter when you hit the rail, since it is always right under your feet (if that makes sense). For that exact same reason I think disasters from the side look way cooler, and are way scarier!
