Ralph Nader

Ralph Nader should be the next American president. He should've been president in 2000. All of his beliefs are a little idealistic but in working towards idealism we will get something much better than what we have today. I have realized that he is right about the corporate run America with the lack of fortitude against corporations from Barack Obama. The Democrats and Republicans are far to similar. We need a third party, non-corporate funded, candidate to take the helm. I don't care what party you support... educate yourself, do the research, and make a decision about what is best for the country and the world from an objective viewpoint. I have changed my beliefs from being a neo-liberal, socially liberal person to an independent who thinks about each issue logically, Nader's views are spot on... Please have an open mind.

The smartest people in the world are ones who are willing to examine all sides of an issue from all different perspective. As someone who as been on all sides of the ideological spectrum I have a great respect for multiple viewpoints.

Here are some youtube links to Nader videos, they are slightly subjective so feel free to post links to retorts that are from the opposite view points... he isn't on the major cable networks often because they have blacked him out for the most part. He also dominates all of his opponents in debates and I guarantee would beat both Obama and Mccain in a one on one debate. The two party system fails to grant him this opportunity.

By the way I also am a fan of Dennis Kucinich... and I did not read this over so excuse spelling and gramatical errors.

No. Political dialogue needs to take place all of the time, not only 6 months before an election. People need to constantly be gaining information and educating themselves in order for there to be an informed voter base. Also, since Nader does not accept corporate funding because he believes in a goverment run by the American people, not by corporations, he needs all of the grassroots support he can get at all times. People need to open their eyes and it needs to start as soon as possible.

... I bet Newschoolers was the wrong place to post this but many of you are the youth of the nation just like I am and we are the future, how about we educate ourselves, make informed decisions, and strive for a better America because the current one makes us slaves to corporations with a constantly declining standard of living and the destruction of the environment around us.

i saw ralph nader speak at my school a week ago, and before i knew very little about him. But after seeing him, he is a man who knows what's up.I didn't agree with all of his ideas (mostly regarding the military) but he definitely has some good ideas, and he made a good point about how elections go. A lot of candidates make promises to the corporations who donate, but americans need to realize corporations themselves can't vote. Americans need to start demanding what they really want from their politicians.

it was very enlightening actually.

nader will never win

its sux cause his views are all good, but its gonna be a long time before an independent wins. This is how you know our political system is fucked up, such a good canidate has no chance cause he an independent

Even if it seems impossible for him to win. We need to support the candidate with the best views and the right vision for America... support needs to come from the grass routes to fight the dualopoly of the 2 party system. Please help to get active and stand up for what is right wherever you hear it, raise awareness and speak out the truth.

heres where i hit a problem

lets look at this last election. say i like nader better than obama, but obamas till good. If i vote for obama, im not supporting my canidate, but if i vote for nader, not im basicly helping mccain

Obama is not still good... obama is going to keep us tied down overseas in the middle east, invest in nuclear power which is not economically viable (the government must 100 percent back any wall street investment in it), not grant healthcare for all, and keep this corporate driven imperialistic foreign policy of the united states. Obama is not change. We need to break this mentallity of "its giving a vote to the republicans" if we all vote for the right candidate (the third party progressive) we can truly inspire change. Sticking to the two party corporate driven system will continually drive this country into the ground. Look at the clinton administration with its neo-liberal policies, they are no different from the neo-liberal agenda of the republican party. He insititued NAFTA which is not good for the country or the countries that we trade with, only good for multinational corporations.

yes we should take a logical view on things but the majority of Americans are idiots who base their decisions on their social perspective

Well we need to help this movement and help start it in many areas... if nader can get enough publicity and get his positions and proposals widely know it could snowball and we can get real change... I had no idea where nader stood until just recently, he needs people to hear the issues so that they can decide on that instead of who gets the most publicity

bahahahaha.....

Nader is what lost the democrats in 2000 which is what gave us 8 years of total Bush AWESOMENESS (kidding...for those who fail to understand internet sarcasm).

America is and always will be a TWO PARTY SYSTEM. I'm all for these 3'rd party dudes still being around, but for realz dude, Nader is no more than an annoying zit in america's political system that keeps popping up. Give it a rest. HE WILL NEVER, EVER, EVARRRRRRR be president.

Oh and anyone who voted for Nader in 2000 voted for Bush...hope you're happy with yourselves.

i guarantee if you saw obama or even mccain they would convince you even more. nader convinced 1% of voting americans while obama and mccain convinved hundreds of thousands more people

nader doesn't campaign as widely though, he only goes to a select few places. He really only runs to create awareness, or so he told us.

He didn't lose the election for gore... Gore won the election and Bush stole it with the help of his brother, the Governor of Flordia at the time. Both parties are controlled by corporate interests and the only difference between them is the rate at which they are bringing this country into decline... the Dems have better views but they are still far to pussy to do anything as the Democratic congress and Obama are showing...

And Clinton showed... If you won't support Nader, at least throw your support to Dennis Kuncinich, the media, financed by corporations, chooses the winners of elections, not the American people.

We are in a lose lose situation as a country. Most of our citizens will not look outside of the box that the media has created for them, but really doesn't exist. We voted democrat because the republicans weren't competent anymore, but the only reason they got into power was because people rejected the democrats for not being competent before that. Neither party strives to GOVERN. They strive to get elected. That is their goal. Once election day is over, their job is done and the country goes back to asleep at the wheel. Its only our massive wealth that keeps our disfunctional country running. We're like a spoiled kid on a shopping spree- not sustainable, but kept afloat despite poor decision making by seemingly endless resources. We can afford incompetence and corruption. A poorer country would've collapsed by now, and we eventually will too if we continue to ignore this problem.

i think that what really needs to happen first is third party representatives need to be allowed to participate in the debates. Nader (with the help of google) was very close to being allowed to debate with the two primary parties. The reason this is so difficult to make happen is because the commission of the debates (someone remind me of the name) is formed, outlined, and completely created by the two main parties for the two main parties. in conclusion, we need to start with changing the outline of the debate to be fair. If Nader(and the other 3rd party reps) were allowed in all of the main debates throughout the course of the election, people who voted for both McCain and Obama would have went third party.

Thanks man... Yeah I hope when everyone gets so fed up with the current administration by 2012 and they will still not trust the GOP because they have failed so hard that they will start looking for fresh ideas. These third parties need publicity and I think with the impending economic disaster as well as the current problems they will have an opporunity to gain support and get the ball rolling. New ideas shared freely and widely are what will save this country.

the 2 party system is the problem. What do you do if one party sucks? You go to the other party. When they suck, you go back to the other party. We need at least 1 more option for our elections.

He is an american hero and I've only seen that has about 3 million dollars invested which he uses to help finance his campaign and he lives on only 25,000 a year.

Do you have a source for the insider trading claim?

Please join this group. It is an important subject that does not get much attention and is crucial to the betterment of our democracy. More voices need to be heard and the free exchange of ideas is the crux of innovation and progression.
