Rainbows?

My mountain has a rainbow and a hippo rail set up. Unlike their flat ones there is no gap to rail it is just snow pushed right up to it. All the snowboarders just ride straight up on to it. I can not find a way to get really get on 90. ANy ideas, or how do you guys do it?

 
yea i had trouble wit that last yr and i never got it but i have seen pros that will turn the 90 degrees even befoer they hit the rail so its like they just slide onto it at 90 degrees, u no what i mean

yeah I tried the turning 90 thing on the ground and lost most of my speed and stalled like halfway up the rainbow, thanks though

 
anyone tried gapping rainbow rails like boyd does in 1242? i want to try that on a rail at a mountain a few minutes from my house, but i dont know how well it will work

you ride up to it with your feet shoulder length apart and the rail right in the middle. then you pop and turn 90 and land on the rail.

do the slidey on thing, if you go fast enough you won't lost speed, plus you get to slide the whole rail. Or you can jump onto it from the side (depending on the rail)

reggaeconcept- yes, i have gapped rainbows, it's not really too hard and it looks good . just popo really hard and worse comes to worse, if you don't pop high enough, you just disaster the rail

as for getting on ride-ons...you can either come fromt he side as someone said, but also as they said, it depends on the rail placement

you can sideslip on. it takes some practice and you have to coe in pretty fast

what i do is just come in straight, pop off the last bit off snow, and just use it as if it is a jump-on

Ride up to it in a wide confident stance, with the rail under your balls. Olley or pop to the apex of the rainbow, and grease the last half. After you get it pop less or slide on to do the whole thing.

a couple days ago on a little ride-on rainbow, i just would 50-50 the first part, and switch upto railslide at the top...thats one solution, and it looks awesome

yeah i struggle with this too.. i havent really come up with a solid solution yet. The other day i was at gore mnt and they had 2 ride-ons that were really tiny. But they were about 2 inches out of hte ground. Normally i go and turn 90 and slide right on, but that wasnt happending with these. I wrecked myself a few times onto the rails.. It sucked. Anyways, it's not so bad if there is some type of lip, but when they just pop out of the ground, you just wish you were a snowboarder.

I was back out at our hill today, and I was popping hard and trying just to get a little sideways and cofrrecting on the rail and it was working fine I was greaseing it in no time thanks

 
yeah i was doin makio to railside on our rainbow last year, too bad its too short for it to look decent, still hard to makio a rail that isnt angle iron flat stuff

 
go up to the rail with good speed. start your slide on the snow just before the rail. you don't have to go totally 90. when you get to the rail rock you knees back so no edges are scraping the rail. then when get to the apex you should roll you knees forward to stay centered. you can get on the rail at like 45 but keep you rtation as you slide and come out switch. thats how i do them. and it works for me.
