I've done them a few times...they are fucking hard to get on to when theres no lip on the jump cause the snowboarders just ride onto it...when there is no lip how do you guys get onto it....i saw some guy butter it which is a good idea...but other than that i dont know

Yeah I know what you mean snowboard just bend and they go over it. A lot of rainbow rails aren't very skier friendly, they have a very steep upslope. You need more speed and then you need to practice coming straight on to the rail and ollying on to it perfectly straight. This will keep your momentum foward and straight down the rail. They take a lot of practice to learn but its so sweet when you first get it!

when there's no jump that puts you on the rail than just do a hockey stop into the rail. go at it with more speed than usual than a few feet before the rail pivit so you are sliding towards the rail perpendicular to it, than when you get to the rail lean back a little so your edge won't catch on the rail.... once you get on it's just like a normal rail slide.

yea man I'm only like 2/10 at the one at COP and I've never tried the one at Louise. It feels wicked when you land one first time.

the one at c.o.p is weird u can only do it in the morning when their still is a lip at night all the snowboarders chew it up so bad

I did my first rainbow ever today, and I greased the whole thing the first try. There was absolutely no lip, so I wa a bit worried, but this is how I do them now.

Come at it with medium speed, with the rail inbetween your lags, it might feel like you will nut yourself, but if you do it right u wont. Next u have to olly a bit and turn 90, slide the rail and laugh at all teh snowboarders who fall off halfway acros it.

I dont like buttering on it because you lose so much speed and its so much easier to ctahc edges that way.

opps i ment to say thanx...

yo, goto free-stylers.com and check out the clip of chris emrcer doing a rainbow rail at eldora. jsut watch it frame by frame. thats how i get on the rainbows like that. it might help you........you won't loose speed like the way others have said above....

there is an other way to do it. ski in till your tips are on either side of the rail, then ollie and turn 90.... try and jump up to the top kinda.... well that is what you should be thinking about. then you don't get so much bang on it, and you can just slide right up. side slipping looks a bit nicer, but ollieing on is was more consistant, and probibly a bit easier... if you ollie good that is.

thanx guys...ill try all of those tommrow when i go to the 'unfriendly rainbow rail'
