Rails - which way to spin?

Ok so I spin naturally to my left. anti-clockwise.

I've never really tried rails, but when like I slide on a lino floor in my socks or something, I am natural footed (left foot forward).

So like, when I start doing rails, should I spin right to get my natural stance, or spin naturally to my left? Which do ya reckon would be easier..

What gravity?

Joos, Iwannastompa is right, I think it's more important that you are comfortable with the railslide than which way you turn 90 degrees. I generally spin left and prefer my right foot forward sliding rails, but if I want to go fakie to railslide I encounter the same problem as you. My attempts to still spin to the left and slide the rail unnatural (left foot forward for me) have met with nothing put pain and embarassment, while attempts to spin unnatural and do the rail the way I'm more comfortable have been much more successful. Being comfortable on the rail is far more important and will save you much pain.

like spinnin most people feel natural movin to the left, but on rails there is really no majority. it is all what feels comfortable to you. i slide with my right foot forward, but thats just me.

which way do you prefer to turn when you are stopping on skis? Its pobably the same direction.

Ya witch way u normaly spin has nothing to do with it because u can easly get used to 90 degrease in the wrong direction but it takes a while to get used to slidding the wrong direction...

this is how you tell. Run across the room and jump. which ever foot you push of the ground with should be your back foot on a rail. this is because you should get on to a rail by hopping off one foot and bringing your front leg forward to land on the rail first. Doing it this way helps you get the right balance and makes it so you dont keep spinning once you land on the rail

that doesn't work for me bacuse I'm in volly ball and my coatchs make me jump of my right foot and I slid right foor front...

I'm just like you. Think of it this way:

- 90o to the right is easy.

- 270s onto rails you'll be spinning natural.

- Switch on's will have natural spins.

- 270s off you'll be landing backwards

- 450s off you'll be landing forwards

It has so many advantages... unless you wanna do 450s on or land forwards from a 270 off.

when i started sliding rails i couldn't figure out which way was my preferred stance, i thought it was my left foot forward cause if i was snowboarding thats the direction i would be going, but i land with my right foot forward, you should just spin the way you are comfortable spinning, the way you land shouldn't make much of a difference in my oppinion
