whats the best stuff to make a rail or a box with thats still pretty cheap..??

plexiglass from a lumber store works pretty well

im just curious , how many people have made boxes, seems like a lot of work but i think it'd be pretty dope if you could make a nice one

made a shitty box that easily gets the job done in like 1/2 to 1 hour.

it is easy just stack layers of base wood and lay some lexan on top of it and u got a box, to me it seems easier than a rail cause u dont need to weld or use any tools to make a mad shitty one

if you have the tools rails are easier

i can make any flat rail in less than 20 mins

a solid metal box takes closer to two hours do do correctly

but wood you must use screws and glue or it wont last

pvc works well but i have shattered it when hitting hard in cold temps

lexan is ideal but very expensive

masonite slides well but warp super easy

laminate is a great choice much cheaper and slides perfect

but the corners destroy easy if not surrounded by sum

my box has so far cost me a whole 7$(US) i got a picnic table for free in my neighborhood, plaxiglass from mi amigos dads work, i bought spray paint, which was the 7$. i need to buy some counter sunk screws i can only hope this thing will be less then 10$

yea instead of lexan u can use snowfence or u can buy a thin layer of sheet metal if u arent too worried about ur bases of ur skis. a lot of things can work if u cant afford it. i have a skating rail that i want to use but cant find the room to get a good inrun im workin on a spot this year. if u want to buy a rail they sell em online u can get a nice decent one for roughly 100-150 bucks if u want to spend the cash

I think the best thing to use for a box is High Density Polyethylene whic you can get at www.usplastic.com this has a really low coefficient of friction and can be molded with heat into different shapes. For a rail i think the easiest way is to take two 2 x 4s and put them together the strong way then put one of those metal v's aong each side

if you wanted to make a box you could glue like 5 pvc pipes together and put that on a wood stand or something...or go and actually get like a table or something from your local hardware store..or .. yeah..it does work though
