Any good rails to session near DU? I know of some burly ones, but I left all my gear (lights, ramp, shovels, rope..ect) back in Tahoe so I was hoping to find something mellow and fun. Anyone got any tips?it would be a tragedy not to hit something today!!

yeah dooooood.

take franklin across 25, you'll see some school's fields. pull into the parking lot when it comes up on your right and start trecking in. There's a kink-down-flat-down a bunch of kids were seshing yesterday.

how is the situation with cops here, If you get caught sessioning a rail are you done for? I've heard it's bad, any "more safe" spots?

willow creek elementary has a super mellow down rail, about 20 steps behind the school. its a little hike to get to the rail so you shouldn't have any trouble with getting tossed. out of the 3 times ive been there weve had no trouble

dude thanks for this, hit it up today for a few hours, good time it was fun, cops drove right by and didnt say anything

glad i could help. it's a sick spot. i especially like that little concrete bonk/stall on the inrun, it adds some flavor

you go to DU? i haven't met to many skier kids here to hit urban with. that snow storm was a good week for urban

ok this is sick haha. I'm applying to DU its like my top choice for college right now, besides maybe CC. there a good amount of kids there that ski freestyle? i mean obviously a lot of people ski but probably not as many NSers.

there are a few kids here and there that do enjoy skiing in the sense that most ns'ers enjoy skiing...i graduated in 08 and still have some real close friends that i ride with as much as possible that still go there...however the gaper population at DU is pretty huge...

^^^yo nick i was there on friday night with that whole crew...kind of crazy but we had to give names to the campo and four of us gave real names, while the other two gave fake names...since i'm done there nothing happening to me but everyone else has hearings with community standards or whatever...

^^there is a small group of kids that shred pretty hard at DU right now, the ones i know are all either seniors or juniors...good luck finding them...

ha, that's funny. Jon told me about it when I was there last weekend for the Bassnectar show. I'll be down again this friday. Not that you smoke, but congrats on legalizing "pot" by the way.

To the kid asking about skiers there: Don't worry about it. There's a ton of kids that are gapers but there's also a ton of kids that are real good. It just takes a couple times goin up to the mountains to figure out who's good and who's a flaming gaper. I suggest living in JMac. It's more open/social so you'll meet more people to shred w/. Also, definitely join the Alpine Club. You'll meet some dope people who love skiing through that.

yeah, I'm here at DU. I talked to a kid hitting a pvc rail after it snowed last week, but that's all I've met for shredders too. I'm sure they are around. Talked to a few on NS too. We need to congregate for urban when it snows again.

word dude. i was pretty sad to see all the snow and have no one to hit urban with me. i saw a pretty sick handrail a couple blocks away from j-mac.

I dislocated my shoulder last Thursday night hitting that rail.... FML, but it's already feeling better.

Jim, you should have called me. I'm not doing any more urbans on campus for a while haha, we find out tomorrow our punishment. And Jex, as Nick said, there are a lot of gapers, but there are some pretty good skiers here too, just not the abundance found in Boulder.

Sort of. Three of us had to go to meetings with a lady and we ended up getting warnings telling us to use better judgement next time.
Not to toot my own horn or anything, but the Alpine Club has a sick winter line up. I heard the skiing sort of sucks in Jackson Hole, but the urban will be killer. Same goes for Silverton.

and if any of you hit up urban in Denver during the next storm, PM me, the dfd at South got me pretty addicted. Or if you want to slay pow on any of the passes, I have the technology for that as well.

hey Jon, we should all hit up Sean White's half pipe again when we're in Silverton instead of the flat ass San Juans. Oh, and I hear Jackson's gunna have a sickkkkk terrain park. Didn't they make top 5 terrain parks in the new Freeskier or something?

Better... Dukes. And a truck, and some thumbs.
^^Nick- Jackson was right after Mammoth in the Freeskiier rankings, but that's because they counted North Shore and Super Mario Land. Those are better than any terrain park anywhere anyways.

Where is the closest place to sled from DU... legally? Including places that aren't necessarily super sick.

Montezuma is pretty sick, it's the drainage between A-Basin and Keystone. I've heard it's a few miles in and then about 800 feet of vertical.

Vail Pass is pretty good too, but I've only been to the cliff aspects visible from the road, where sleds aren't allowed. Once you get back there it gets pretty rad pretty quick, but a fairly high avy danger so conditions have to good. There is also Jones Pass, Fremont Pass, and a few places outside of Fairplay have sledding potential.
Do you have a sled?

Yeah, I've wanted to hit up Montezuma for a while. I went on that snowshoe hike freshman year there and there was a sickkkk kicker already built over one of the many abandoned mines there. I'll be at Vail Pass a few times this winter too.

And Jon, hit me up when you're in Snowmass considering I'll be living there all season.....

yea I got two, but some days I don't think I really want to drive up i-70 for 1-2 hours. I was hoping to find some place on the eastern side with foothill access. I heard there was an area south of Red Rocks, but I don't know if there is any truth to this.
Basically I was hoping to find a place about 20-30 minutes from Denver (DU) for afternoon or morning sessions when I can't make a full day trip.

yooo guys im a freshman here at du also and ive found a few kids to shred with. my good friend here is an am snowboarder and weve got 8 or 9 days under the belt. we were lining up that urban behind betcher but apparently its super strict there so were looking for other shit to hit. next storm it should be sick. also whoever mentioned jordan loyd i do know him and from what ive seen hes a pretty crazy photographer.

just signed the lease on a house a block south of campus, ill set up a few rails, yur all invited as long as you dont die.

I live just south of campus as well, about 3 blocks on S. William's. Man I would be stoked to hit a rail!! Do you have a good stash of snow and anything set-up right now?

That's one possibility, but there's another called D-Structure....... which one has kept you blue all your life?
Don't judge people based on color; we, as a society, are trying to move past those archaic and oppressive views.
OK, I'll stop now! Unnecessary thread pollution from me. Plus I'm not normally the conniving type.

There's a super mellow down rail at Slaven's middle school. Just east of Dartmouth and university on dartmouth. It lands right into a chain-link fence but its good for pics and you can hop off like three feet early and avoid the fence
