i started to hit up a lot of rails this year. so far no real damage. but how long can i expect them to hold up? if i ski rails aggresiivly all season (i get up mabey 20-30 days), will they be finished next year??

nah dood.....it all really depends on the skis you have.....i had salomons last year and slide every day and i skied all winter every day

they're still good this year

ya it affects the edges...they'll probably get cracked/fall out under the boot. that happened to me last year. so visually it does affect it, but i didnt notice an affect in the performance of the ski. and when the edges fall out it makes rails even easier i thought.

maybe im completely wrong tho.

naw my 720s have no edges under the boot and it is easier cause you dont have to worry about catching an edge and they slide smoother

I lost a whole edge on my Candides after about half a season. It just really depends on a ton of different factors.

my edge went about 1/8 of an inch into my ski today and i didnt even clip the rail i just caught an edge and now the edge is totally messed up but it skis fine just looks kinda wierd and i have k2 enemys and they arent holding up to good on rails hich may be a factor

Once you get good on rails you'll learn to not slam down on them too hard and your edges will last longer, but they'll be so dull it wont even matter. You can sharpen them a bit, but if you jib a lot it won't help all that much. I jibbed almost every day on a pair of Atomic Tweaks last year and aside from a couple cracks, the edges were fully intact. Dull as shit, but I found the skis to hold up really well.

isnt it really stupid how companies make twin tip skis, expect people to use htem for rails, and usually the warranty doesnt cover rail damage

I just bought my first pair of twin tips, they're Line, is anyone familiar with their warranty at all?

lines good with warrenty, but rails are not coverd by warrenty...its not a manufacture defect for your edge to fall out b/c of too many rails...

you would think that it would be covered on a twintips warenty, it is a pig part of the sport now.I just bought Scratchs today and they have a 2 year warrenty, but im going to ask what the warrenty covers when i pick them up tomorrow.

Thom Savery-

Its not stupid to make skis for jibbing and not cover edge damage under warrenty, theres no metal that can sustain that kind of abuse, its metal on metal friction; when the edges then hit the snow (hot metal vs. cold snow), they crack. Its like saying why dont companies that make racing tires warrenty against their tires going bald, they are going to take abuse.

No it shouldnt be covered even on twin tips because the warrenty is to cover factory defects, something that happens because of the company not because of the rider.

so those your skis...... both of them
