Rails at CT mountains

alright heres the deal.. as we all know the rails across CT mountains or should I say hills for that matter fucken BLOWWWWWWW...being able to ski at night is really imprortant to progression in my opinion, and makes u a shitload better when u hit the better mountains in VT.. I would like to see this mountains have some kick ass rails, so heres my idea. Me and my friend from college are starting to build pretty decent rails, once we get the technique down, and start really getting nasty with a welder we will be able to build some real quality shit. Now, do u guys think that maybe like powder ridge, sundown, whatever would buy some rails if they were 'up to par' ... shit i mean, they have nothing as it is... I would just like to see CT step it up a little bit, and I am a little older now so I bet I could make this work. What do you guys think? I would even donate a few rails to them if they were interested

I will post the rail we made this weekend, when I scan the photos

yea, they probably would be willing to pay, but not a lot. sundown seems to be getting rails lately... we got a battleship, straight, mini straight, and a 4 kink (purportedly) by the end of last year, but definately give the administration a buzz.

ya well me and my friend are really starting to get this booming, we have alot of the assets covered.. we are just going to concentrate on making a real quality rail get some pictures out and then get in contact with them, because i dont wanna send them a decent rail and have them be turned off u know?

-chris

There is a really sick urban rail near my house my and ny friends might hit it up. It is like a single kink and then goes into a c it is such a sick rail and its like 100 feet long

Well, what we are planning on doing is this. My father is an ex lawyer and now is a judge. obviously he knows his shit when it comes to stuff like that, and he hastons of friends who do. he explained to me all the things I needed to do in order for the company to get started, and for use not to get sued, so hopefully if people and mountain resort owners see this, they will be sold... my dad also said he could have one of his buddies who is some technical engineer come down and look at the rails, test them for sturdiness, and then they are licensed to give letter of approval or some shit.... soooo... thats a good step

aight, im workin at sundown this year and i just talked to the dudes that are settin it up. they hope to have about 8 or 9 rails this year. they already have em all made they just need to decide where they are goin. they said theres an S-rail and a few kinkers. as far as a park goes they hope for a few more jumps that are actually going to be maintained by maitanince people. this year should be a sick year compared to the past few years

sweeet... im glad to read this

I was at the Snowsports indusrty show in Hartford the other week and met the guy from Powder ridge. He said that guys from ESPN came last year and told them how to totally redo their park and keep it clean. They are ditching the old tubing park and putting in a new terrain park. He said they are hiring park rangers and are going to groom it every day.

I went there last year and it sukkked. But if this guy is telling the truth, it should be good...with tables, rails, and boxes.

I know.....I'll belive it when I see it too.

I read somewhere in there there were ideas for sliding rails in UCONN unless you have an urge to spend the night in jail (yes jail)_ you had better aquire some liability insurance and organize things ahead of time. it took some crafty speakin to talk our way out of bein cuffed and stuffed between two dorms last fall. it was nasty, im not from the area, but we slide a 30 footer that went down some stairs, we each got a few trys at it before the pigs showed. anyways. they told us that the school is open to suggestions and things like liability insurance, paint, sand and crowd control are a must if you want to clear it by them. just thought id throw that out there.

as far as mountains are concerned. in my experiences, they want nothing to do with outside anything. its their asses if something goes wrong. so they would prefer to handle everything themselves. send your hill plans for your ideas, market yourself as someone who knows what you're talkin about, and dont let up.

While I may have been gone from the southern new england ski scene for a few years due to college, I will be around this winter as the park / Terrain feature attendent at Ski Sundown. I'm not to hard to find. Please email me with suggestions, and if when we're under way you think I suck, please let me know. I'll be there 6 days a week, I want the place to rule as well.

and if there is any pre-season rail sessions, Id love an invite, Im too far away from a hockey rink to do it myself.

In the mean time, I'll be getting in touch with Chris to see what we can have rockin for opening day. Keep it real

^ yeah I hear ya man,.... thats bullshit about UCONN but not surprsing cause the uconn police up there are fucken ridiculous, I almost got arrested one night for crossing the god damn street drunk as shit, but with no beer in my hand or anything.. just cause they wanted to harrass me

Ya my rail idea was exciting at first but fell through, If i really wanted to do anything with it I would of had to be nasty with a welder and make sure my shit is right..

Anyways, I should be at sundown here and there so ill sure ill meet up with ya

yo fluff... you may not be the person im thinkin of, but are you the kid thats out in a bright orange coat on a skateboard? if so i live right down the street from ya. im workin at sundown too, ill be in rentals. but yea, are you the kid im talking about? got line stickers all over the van and shit?

an insurance research deal showed that rails only account for 1% of incidents that happen at ski areas. thats what my boss said, i work at sundown, and they say there park will be substantially better this year. with a whole warehouse of metal usable as they see pleased

If your attack is going well, then it's an ambush..

naw, bryan told me you were the dude doin all the terrain park shit. im ryan, live right across the street from lindsay circle... i got a shitty rail you can see from the road and im always fuckin around on the trampoline.

oh yea, and we need some jumps in all sizes. thats what i would like so see more of anyway. and i already hear there are rails goin in so thats cool

there will be jumps from small to medium to big i just dont know how big

If your attack is going well, then it's an ambush..

any of you guys longboard? how are the hills in the new hartford area? i'm psyched about skiing sundown this year.

-chris
