Rail Waxing

I've made a 10 foot aluminum rail this winter, and used it extensively. It had never been waxed since I made it, but because of water and ice from the winter, it was slippery enough. However, as summer comes and plans for a summer set up are being made, I think I am going to have problems with sliding. What is a good thing to use to wax it? The cheeper the better. I just need it to be slick.

candle / skate wax has always worked for me..also if you cant get it how you want it try spraying it with PAM cooking spray, works wonders but you dont want too much on it.

Buy a cheap candle from a dollar store or something. Also with my pvc rail I spray it with the hose every few hits and that will keep it slick.

It'll slide but you want to dull your edges. You really won't have to worry about stickyness as much as worry about your edges wanting to shave in.

The only people I have ever seen who have had trouble with it was a skier who though 5 feet on flat was enough to skate in and snowboarders because they can't get speed. Actually works alright, but yes, if you grind wrong then you catch your edges.

PVC usually just shears off instead of catching, I always would end up with shavings everywhere if i was trying new tricks and such

dude it slides like butter

but srsly candle wax should be good

pvc slides marvelously, is cheap, and doesn't catch really, just shaves like mentioned above

for skiing usually you never need to wax a rail because of the metal-on-metal contact. just make sure theres no rust or burrs on it. waxing a rail is pointless otherwise. use it on ledges/ rough surfaces.
