Rail trick tips

Sup guys, I just bought some twin-tips and I would really like to slide but the problem is that I dunno how. Can you give me some trick tips that would help me to do rails. Like tell me what to do and what not to do.

Thanks

why do people that cant slide rails have 900 in their names? anyway,

1. keep weight forward

2. turn a full 90 degrees

3. keep feet around shoulder width apart

4. look at end of rail

5. don't pop too much, so you're slamming down onto the rail

6. look at all the other threads about this

But there is one thing I am afraid about doing rails. I'm afraid to get my skis stock in the rail and me doing a nice dive to the floor.

uhh. know this now. if you want to learn how to do rails, you will be getting hurt. you will fall off the rail. you will fall on the rail. you will nut the rail. once you get it you'll stop falling as much. but it is going to happen

Once you get use to gettin on rails, speed is your friend. It will make it smoother and easier.

freestylesupreme: i personally know brian class...#1 he is homosexual...but only goes after little boys, so you might have a chance and #2 don't fix his skis because if they get fixed then he will come and bum lift tickets off me and i'll end up sweeping his remains up after he wrecks himself on the hill anyway.

MC to a kid that works at the shop where I took my busted ass Volkls. Thanks MC.

speed is good, but to much speed at first is your enemy, because if u catch your inside edge your in for a good nutting

i have never even been close to nutting a rail. all i can say is start small, work up to big, and dont think about waht you are doing until you do it. thats what i do

pvc is a lot different then real metal rails, i dont even think it's helped me learn rails, anyways, the best thing to do is try on a rail that is short enough that you won't nut yourself, like stand with the rail between your legs, and if your nuts aren't touching the rail, then it won't be as bad, and you should be able to avoid nutting yourself.

the key is looking at the end of the rail. I wasn't doing that for the longest time and I kept slippen out and landing on my ass. looking at the end keeps you centred and also keeps your weight in the right place. I also found it helped when I was learning to have one ski on either side of the rail when APPROACHING the rail. So the rail is kind of in between your skis and if you kept on going you'd be hurting. This helps ya out when landing on the rail, I found, because it sets ya up in a nice poisition. Also, if you leave the ground for your 90 degree rotation with your shoulder width apart, you'll land o nthe rail that way. Don't leave the ground with your feet together.

Hope this helps.

what about kinked rails? once the rail drops from flat to downhill what do you have to do differently? or do you just keep sliding it the same as a flat rail?

you have to shift your weight slightly forward or your gona be ridin the rail on your hip and that is no fun.

class taught me how to ski rails and he knows his shit...

I started 'jibbing' on a really slick wooden bench, it helped me learn the basics. It is easy to balance on and is a little slower than a rail.

Basically what these guys said.

But one tip. Don't do what i did my first time. Don't bail out half way.

watch what other people do, and dont be afraid to ask the best person in the park, if you ask them nicely, im almost positive that they would be happy to help you out. i see it all the time. that and watch alot of the rail vids on ns

whats up with this whole"first days of grinding will kill you" deal. i first learned to slide on a really small circle rail built on the ground, then a box, then a flat bar with a ride on. i dont think i fell once, and to date, i dont think ive fallen on a straight slide on a falt bar/box

i believe that is exactly what he was lookin for...and as for the rail question...if ur afraid then dont attempt it cuz it will get in ur head...just relax and chill then it will come easy

go out and find a nice smooth 10 kink and just give 'er. yea rails will be kind of hard in the beggining but once you get them they are very fun

if your uncomfortable trying rails do some boxes to get the feel of sliding then just find the smallest flat rail in your park and do what you would do for a box

rails are really easy to learn i learned how to hit rails at keystone and i was doing the flat downs the first day i learned them its really not as hard as you think just find a small rail and go for it

how bout you pick up a skateboard and go ride. if you jump on a sklateboard with your weight not centered youll fall back of face plant. same principles with a rail, you just have heavy weights on your feet

start on boxes or really small rails and work your way up thats all i can say. trick tips are just to get you the basics, you just gotta go and try it. but no that you will fall its part of things. I board, yes i no you guys dont have to say anything. Anyway i was doing a down streat style rail, i cought an edge faceplanted on the 2 inch thing crust/ice crap. I had such a bad cuncusion i hardly coulg get to the bottom of the hill than i tried to eat and i allmost puked. I was realy sleepy and i had a massive throbing headache for like 10 hours. I tried it 2 moretimes over acouple of weeks and never got it. im gonna concur it next year!

so all i can tell you is. GO FOR IT! but if you want to feel a bit safer wear a helmet (like i did when i did the rail, haha)

thats true do long boxes and short rails, all low to the ground...it will take some time so dont get frustrated
