Rail tips

hi people, I'm a big mountain skier and have no clue how to ski rails - wanna change that. anyone got any tips for me about how to start?

well basically you wanna start with small funboxes...first try 50-50 to get a grip of the box, then try 90' onto the box and keep your balanced center...i am sure that your first time you might lean back to much and fall but it only takes a few times to nail it..the big thing is committing. A lot of people don't commit enough to their full 90' causing them to be offbalanced and fall or to totally crash going onto the rail. Next start with small flat rails and focus on getting ur binding right over the rail for balance. That's a start

sorry about being such a cook, but are fun boxes those wide rails? and 50 50 is having your weight distributed evenly on both feet?

yea, boxes are very wide(not just on the top, but all the way down into the snow)..have a topsheet usually silver or white in color..50 50 is going straight onto the box with ur skis going forward close together

i'm sorry, but are you REALLY sponsored or is that just the clothes and skis that you happen to use?

yeah i am. i'm in the big mountain team. it's probably hard for you americans to imagine but parks in europe are pretty scarce.

is it true that ski resorts in the states don't allow people to ski the backcountry??? that would be my worst nightmare...

well many resorts out west in america have areas similar to backcountry, but all have a boundary to their resort where they are not responsible for looking for you and you are taking all risk under your belt.

yea the biggest thing is dont look down at the box or rail that will cause you to naturally lean back and fall when you turn 90 on.

Look at your goal the end of the box or rail this will help with your proper weight distribution.

at 1st on the boxes make sure u stomp ur front leg down as if almost ur putting all ur pressure on it, that will prevent u from falling back in the beginning

I actually just stuck y first rails this year. And I almost killed myself for thinking ot was hard. All you have to do is not fall. Go straight on at first (legs on either side of the rail) and Jump, (not ride and slide) Jump 90 degrees onto the rail. Keep you stance pretty wide. The wider it is, the less likely you'll fall back and jam you thumbs like I did. And don't think about leaning any which way, the slope will do it for you. Once you do your first perfect rail, do it again, and again until you feel like your perfect, then head for a kink. After that, it's all uphill.(except for effing summer).

yea i read something in freeze which helped me alot

jump on and dont be afraid of leaning back...its almost impossible to catch an edge by being to far forward unless u did one crazy ollie

what helped me was progressing, 50 50 onto the box, then about half way turn 90 degrees and slide off.

cant go skiing spring break??? dude spring break is done and i couldnt go anywhere cuz unlike you i actually work and earn my money. mommy and daddy dont shower me with everything i want. its my bday today and all i got from them was

I do most of my progress on a shitty really low rail in a backyard setup just because i can grind it a hundred times in a row to get the feeling..its like riding a bike once u figured out how to hold balance it is easy...

on my first day a dude told me to put my weight a little more on the front foot and thats true cuz u tend to lean back...so that kinda evens it out till u get the hang of it...

...

I swaped the Alps with the Middle of Wisconson can't wait till I can go back where I belong!
