Rail progression

is it just me or does it seem like there isn't really anyone pushing the progression of rails? I know people have pulled like 450s and backflip onto rails but i don't really see anyone like doing new grinds then just the same old railslide...maybe i'm wrong and just havent payed attention or havent seen anyone try sick things on rails

yeah rails have definately progressed, just compare stuff l;ike cr's switch up to stuff in the days of ski movie 2 and propaganda, but it would still be cool to see some new grinds which we'll see more of this winter i bet

Last night I had a dream that there was a roller coaster S rail at our local mountain... and I was thinking back, I don't thik I have ever seen a roller coaster S rail, does such a thing even exist?

its all about buters on and nose slides and tail slides ect. and combos of these things

and boxes are the future for skiers rails are to limiting

thats a sick picture! thats the kinda sick things i wish people would throw down on rails.. i tried to 50-50 a rail with one ski one time but it didn't work out and i landed on my nuts

 
there has been tones or progression... nose presses, tail presses, butters on, four kinds of switch ups.... like there is lots of progression.

yea i am i just started last year, and its hard for me to catch up with the whole skiing scene cause all my friends snowboard, thank god i found newschoolers!

nose and tail slides are alot simpler than you would think, im not gonna take the time to explain though, watch volume 9.

 
I think rails can still progress a lot. Sum kid on the glacier was like crouchin down and doin mutes on the rails and leanin back way on his back edge. it was kool. iannick dow 540 to switch 50-50, and on the glcaier at Dave Murray on the C BAnk rail sum kid was doin blinside switch ups to 270 off. now that is progressive. THat shit is hard, especially on a C bank rail.

all 4 switch us, all 4 270 on, all 4 270 off, roayles, 50-50 spins to 50-50 and presses. now if thats not progression

I don't know what can possibly be done more on skis. It's really hard to make new things up since the length of our skis. Hmm...

 
2 things: how wide was the rail that Iannick did this 540 to switch 50 on, and also, for progression, i can see some company coming out with some kind of grand plate atachment so people can do stuff similar to rollerbladers, line produced something like that for skiboards. -josh

 
There are alot of grinds you can do, people just dont do them alot. Like Front sides, Fast slides, skis slides ect... I do front slides alot and this kid i know can do skis slides on allmost anything.

ive seen kids doing forward grinds...like a 50-50 on both skis instead of just one....I bet noseslides and tail slides will become alot more abundant....and i have seen tail presses and nose presses on boxes and stuff....so maybe people will start being able to do like crooked noseslides and stuff

apart from spinning or flipping onto/off of a rail theres really not a whole lot of progression i see, theres basicly only one way to slide a rail consistantly on skis, 50-50's just seem unnatural and sketchy to me and i doubt that there are people who can nail a nose/tail press on a regular basis. the progression im mostly seeing is in rail design, with newer more technical slides. if a company such as line marketed a grind plate like they used to, maybe something could come of it, maybe pick up some new ticks like a soul grind..or maybe not, it might be too snowlerbladeish. i wish skis had more sliding variations and the same capibilities as snowboards on rails

 
skiing will progress in rails more than anything else right now. the rails that crichton and liam are doing are so sick. and things are gettting so technical.

there are probably other people doing these but my friends and i do these things called japan slides, basically a japanwhile you slide the rail, one footed rail slides

i've been over the whole one footed thing for a while now, there are cooler things to be done. and to whoever said they doubt there are many people who can 'nail' a nose/tail press on skis, well i think you'd be pleasantly surprised to know how many can. i think skiing has as many possibilities on rails as snowboarding does, the only real thing they have that we don't is frontside and backside.

 
we have blindside switchups though, because we travel sideways on a rail when most boarders dont unless they are doing a 50-50. and i think mabye the grind plate wouldnt be such a bad idea. just refine the design a little bit cuz i heard it was really hard to use. if you could lock into a rail you could do any grab you wanted to on it. mute grinds, tail grinds, japan grinds, phil grinds, critical grinds w/e the fuck you wanted. you get me?
