How To Build A Rail
Materials: 8 foot 2x6, 10ft 2.5inch PVC pipe (get 8foot if can) about a 6 foot 2x4 (maybe more), and screws.
First, cut 1/2 inch off the PVC on the diameter (use a table saw). Then stretch it over the 2x6 with a screw driver pull it over. Then tap it the rest of the way with a rubber mallet. Make sure the PVC is straight. You do not need to put screws in, it will stay on.
Next, cut out 3 18inch pieces of 2x4. Place the 2 outer supports 1 foot from the end (place the end of the support at the 1 foot mark, not the middle), and the 3rd one 4 feet from the end, place the middle of the support there the 4 foot mark is. (look at figure below)
Finally, cut out 6 pieces of 2x4, each end at a 45 degree angle. I don?t know how long they should be or, really are, just kind of improvise. Place them on the support and the main beam.
Be sure to pre-drill all the holes before putting the screw in, failure to do so can and will result in the wood splitting.
Tip: When cutting them, get your skate out, you don?t want them too long, otherwise when you are doing souling tricks, you might hit them.

Tips: The PVC will stay on there, it hasn?t moved since I built the rail, and it has been about 4-5 months. You can snowboard on it; it will take the metal edges, just watch out and don?t put too much pressure on it. I haven?t fallen yet, but I?ve scraped some off already. It will slide really well at the beginning, but after a while it looses the top layer and will slow down. Put some wax on it, candle wax or pretty much any wax will work. It doesn?t eat up the wax like a ledge does either so don?t worry.
The only trouble there is that if you go too slowly on a grind, and you reach the end it might pop the back end up. If you go at a moderate speed it will do fine, but if you are a truly beginner and you grind slow, put the supports more to the ends so it wont pop up.
