rail jam or slope style

we are going to organize a comp here in Quebec City for a school project with profits going to the handicaped skier association. so what would you prefer ?

 
what would it take to get some hot skier here, and anybody ever orgainise a event that could give us some ideas about getting sponsers to get prize money

 
talk to ur local shops/reps, and have a written proposal, and make it professional, and then they know ur actually serious

just a jam

no competition but with a small entry fee so you can give some money to the hanciaped skiersand give some prizes given by sponsors.

people will have a good time for sure no matter how good they are

urban jam would be hela cool but not everybodycould hit the rail since it's urban and if someone crash hardon stairs or anything, well your in deeep shit.

you should work out with a resort so they can lower ticket prices ofr paticipants so there is more money for those handicaped peoples

some resort would certainly like that and the fact that tehre is a cause behind the jamwould get them some publicity

we are having a hard time with the resorts because of insurance, they are not to open because of injuries and resonability, they tell us we have to get insurance to hold this event or we are shit out of luck !!! any ideas ?

 
i organized a comp at my hill (check my sig). its not too hard. just takes time. if you do it at your hill and put say it is their comp then they will pay the insurance and you dont have to worry about that. unless you have that covered already. getting sponsors is easy. a shop is able to send you lots of swag. talk to some reps as well. even if they cant send you lots of crap, they will gladly give you a bunch of tshirts and stickers. make a proposal for a major title sponsor who will have more prominent advertising and will give you more stuff than the other companies. a shop is good for a title sponsor because they have lots of resources.

the problem here in Quebec is that the waiver form ain't legal, out west is different and the legalities are different. quebec laws suck !!! one way or another we shall have an event we are going to find out if the school is covered for this type of event... wish us luck and thanks for your comments

A rail jam would be so cool. Aight, I was watching fuel network one day and they had this documentary thing of a rail jam outside, in the parking lot of a snowboard shop in LA. Try to talk to the D structure people and see if you could build scafolding in the parking lot, or use a hill nearby(I haven't ever been to Quebec or that area, so I don't know what it's like), and build a down kink or something. You could make snow, haul in snow from resorts/ice rinks, or use snow around there. If you got it to be at d struture, and them to be a sonsor, it would be dope. I'm sure you could get some pro skiers if you did it that way. Good luck.

unless the slopestyle comp is super organized, it will just feel like another park sesh.

go for the rail jam it would be much better unless like previously said the slopestyle was really organized it would just turn into a rail jam

First where would you do it? Both would be good but it all depends where you are located. If a mountain lends you its park for a slopestyle it would be rad and a rail jam is cool too.

 
we are working on the location at this time, looks like it will be Mont Ste Anne just outside of Québec City. We are meeting the people at the hill this week-end.

 
ok here's what has develloped, the date is the last week-end of jan 29/01/05 or 30 so far it looks like a rail jam

Railjam man. In order to make money (your goal) you should have it at a place with high-exposure. It will be hard to make a profit at the resort because people have already paid for their lift tickets etc. (this only applies if the resort is open).

Plus, most people will be blown away by the fact that crazy skiers are jumping onto rails, i.e. they'll stop and look and hopefully give you money for your worthy cause.

Good luck with the event. Be sure to advertise the event. Perhaps you could have handicapped skiers present? That would really help. And if you want big name skiers, you either better know some or have a way to convince them (money usually works best, but I'm assuming you don't have that kind of dough to throw around...). Word.

yeah have the slopestyle thing with the jam in the city afterward. and if ur in quebec their might already be some pros floatin around so give them aheads up and i imagine they would come. and tell teh sponsers if for a good casue and i thnk they would be happy to give away some shwag.
